  1. About 7 years ago, my husband was denied baptism over a partial beard. He shaved, and got baptized. But this set a scene for his journey. He eventually (as a result of many accumulated wrongs, and his own mental illness) he drifted away and became inactive. He has recently been drawing closer to Jehovah and the congregation again. Today I will have to present this update to him tactfully. Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk
  2. Expecting parents are anticipating and preparing for the arrival of their new baby. As the day draws near, they move into the "nesting" phase. This is crunch time for them. They don't want to be stuck in a situation where the baby has arrived, but they haven't prepared enough. They have to baby proof their home, and they can't leave the hospital without that car seat! We, too, are expecting; expecting Jehovah's day.. We should all be in that nesting phase now as we are in the final days of the last days. Now is not the time for being nonchalant. We must make every effort to conquer bad habits (baby proofing) and develop godly qualities (car seat) so we can be prepared for life under Jehovah's rulership. Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk

  4. I heard stories of my great grandfather bailing the brothers and sister out of jail. The sister who always assisted with my own study when I was first in the Truth also told me stories. She was 8 years old and remembers having to run to the nearest brother's house down the road to warn them that the authorities were on their way to search them. Sent from my SM-G981W using Tapatalk
  5. I don't follow earthquakes but can anyone tell me if there has been a greater increase in the last month or two? Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
  6. Does anyone have the music for our kingdom songs (Sing Out Joyfully) already transcribed for various instruments? I'm looking particularly for flute (so basically transcribed up an octave). Or perhaps someone knows of an app or software that will do it for me? It's tedious to do and I'm looking for a short cut. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
  7. I wish I had the patience for knitting. I always found it was too slow to complete anything. This sweater is beautiful. And the yarn you chose will look amazing!
  8. Jehovah has said that miracles must stop for a time. But we have many first hand witness to His promises being fulfilled. This give us a solid foundation to build up our faith that Jehovah will yet fulfill all His promises. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
  9. Two things that come to mind: 1- we are imperfect, so feeling pity may not come naturally. This is something we may need to meditate on. I find that remembering how grateful I am that some took pity on me (I was a return visit for 10 years before accepting a study) is helpful. 2- Jesus condemned the Pharisees. 10. This is similar to mine with a few differences I add 1/2c parmesan 1/2c grated carrot I use breadcrumbs instead of oats. And 1/2 tsp of sage (trust me...it works) I love dry mustard!!! Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
  11. My son is getting married! We are throwing a wedding shower for the couple. His fiancée will be a new sister and pioneer to our congregation starting the day after the wedding. So I thought it would be nice to just ask get-to-know-you type questions to her at the shower instead of traditional bridal shower games. What sort of questions would you ask? 12. Mmm...I love homemade pizza...and I take it to heart! I use 00flour and I follow Reinheart's recipe. I do a series of folds rather than kneading. I cold ferment for a minimum of 24 hrs and up to 72 hrs. The longer fermentation also make for a tastier crust. But too long just spoils it. I find the optimum to be 36 to 48 hours. I find it is necessary to keep the hydration just right too. This helps when stretching to form paper thin crusts that get so cracker crisp on a hot stone (ok...I'm done for it... I'll be making dough today). So I measure everything by weight and I use a scraper when folding my dough so I don't have to add flour. Then I heat my stone in the oven for at least 2 hours at the highest oven temp I can achieve. OR the best is when I can heat my stone on my charcoal grill at its highest temperature (exceeding 600°F on a hot day and a strong bed of coals). It's the next best thing to a wood fired oven. At these temps I have to keep the toppings thin because they cook real fast. If I want more than just cheese and pepperoni then I heat at a lower temp so I can bake them a little longer. I prefer making my own sauce. Canned tomatoes, lots of oregano, some basil and hot pepper flakes, and some olive oil, salt & pepper. I don't exactly cook it. I just heat it enough to release the oils in the pepper flakes. I also prefer fresh mozzarella and a sprinkle of more oregano on top of the toppings just before cooking. Something that I've done a few times now is to mist the crust part of the pizza with a touch of water just before baking...I find this helps to get more oven spring to achieve a nice puffy ring around those yummy toppings. After writing this I'm realizing why some are weary of inviting us for meals because they think we are "foodies" Sent from my SM-G903W using Tapatalk
  13. I studied with an English woman for a while and she had me try clotted cream. So delicious! I went home and tried to make some even though she had warned it wouldn't work with heavy (35%) cream. The cream has to b heavier than that still. She recommended trying to get some right from a farm. Sent from my SM-G903W using Tapatalk
  14. A sister in our congregation is trying to have the young ones perform Now Is The Time for the rest of the congregation. It would be nice to have a copy of just the instrumentals for this original song. Does anyone have it or have access to it? Sent from my SM-G903W using Tapatalk

How I Found the Truth

  • How I found the Truth
I come from a well known family of the Truth from Montreal, but I did not know them and was not raised in the Truth. As a young adult my husband (though we were not married then) worked occasionally with a Witness brother who answered all my husband's questions. Then one night this brother offered my husband a ride home and rather sneakily obtained our address and apartment number. This brother and his wife then knocked on our door for the next 10 years! It wasn't until my mother began studying that I finally accepted a study from this sister in an effort to shut my mother up :)
My husband began studying with this same brother about 5 years after that.
Now I enjoy hearing stories of my great-uncles and great-grandfather from the many brothers and sisters who knew them.
