  1. Indonesia is located directly north of Western Australia in the land down under. New word: north
  2. Oh - just wanted to add that the newspaper report for the above experience had included the fact that she is a Jehovah's witness and wouldn't take blood. What an amazing witness!
  3. I have an experience that has just happened recently. My dear friend's daughter had a cardiac arrest just outside of MacDonald's, dropped to the ground as she was walking into the store. An ICU worker who, uncharacteristically, had been eating his lunch in his car nearby, saw her go down and rushed to her and began CPR. A MacDonald's employee (who was a 3rd year paramedic trainee) also stepped in to help. Another worker phoned 000 (or 911 in North America). They worked on her until an ambulance arrived. It was discovered she had a huge clot in her lungs, and lost an enormous amount of blood as a result. Her haemoglobin level plunged to 51 (far below the normal range of 121-151 grams per litre) She was put in an induced coma for 2 weeks. During this time, hospital staff told the family 3 or 4 times that they needed to say their goodbyes. Then her 2 daughters came to say goodbye. It was at that point that Rebecca woke up. She says the girls goodbye's woke her. The medical team couldn't believe her cognitive condition, believing that if she should survive, she'd remain a vegetable and would need round the clock care. Two weeks later she was discharged from hospital. She then had to learn how to walk again, having lost almost all of her muscle while in a coma. She is dealing with immense chest pain due to the extended period of chest compressions during the emergency. The young man who first responded to the emergency, also tended her while she was in hospital. She is making a remarkable recovery. Coincidences? I think not.
  4. I remember when the Society announced that "this generation" didn't refer to those from the time of 1914 and having understanding. I was baptised in 1986 and was becoming uncomfortable using this tact when witnessing to people. So I just didn't. I also remember an elder have THE worst time getting his head around the new information. And from what I heard, there were ones who left because of this new understanding. Could that example apply with us today?
  5. I don't seem to think much about Armageddon. I don't remember even going there. I was baptised in 1986, and had wished then that I had done it sooner. Now, I serve Jehovah because I just love Him so much. When certain things happen in my life, I know Jehovah is watching over me. I wonder at times, why He even wanted me. I'd say I'm not alone. I find my service to Jehovah gives me stability in an uncertain world. It gives me peace of mind, a calm heart, joy. These are profound. Can people in this world attain that kind of peace? I don't know. But I treasure my service to Jehovah. Personally, I never thought this system would go on this long. I remember the brother who studied with me had doubts about the system going past the year 2000. I hadn't thought about that, still don't. I was just happy to be counted among Jehovah's people, still am. I don't care how long it goes - psst - actually I had hoped the system would be done by the time I had wrinkles !!! I am 100% certain however, that Jehovah will bring the end in His time. When there can never be a question about his rulership and authority. He knows when that time is, and has known it all along.
  6. Oh wow! I am so grateful for all your comments and suggestions! Thank you B I G time!
  7. I tried to download Goldwave. Got an error - how do I work around this? Thank you again!
  8. How cool is that ??????? I tried to use Audacity, but there are restrictions without paying. I'll try Goldwave. Thank you so much for the information!
  9. I realise the society has got so much covered as far as recordings. I was talking to this brother about the book of Br Max Liebster, and how much it had encouraged myself. And he expressed a desire to "read" it. I'm not talking about embarking on a recording of a number of publications - just this one. Then I'd burn a CD for him, so he could play it back.
  10. Not sure if this is the place for this request. I've been looking for free recording software, so I can record readings for a brother who is going blind. I'm in a bind financially, so I can't afford a hefty outlay on software. So I was wondering if anyone here knows of a software package I could use to do these recordings. Many thanks to all of you.
  11. I remember attending a convention in Montreal (early 80's I think). This was a first for me. I was blown away by the fact that people were served lunch quickly and no one complained. There were around 70,000 pople there. I am so happy I have that memory to revisit any time. I personally appreciate these old provisions.
  12. We use Ministry Assistant and message reports from the app. So much easier!
