  1. I love this day text! After struggling myself for so many years with the physical responsibilities laid at my feet, work, health related, and aging parents, the toil that takes on my emotional and mental and spiritual well being - well, has left me exhausted. Last night, just helping get my mom ready, in the van, out of the van, parking, dealing with my scent issues in a newly renovated venue with new carpet, paint, etc along with extra hairspray scents due to rainy weather, my son also needing my support (plus my daughter and dad too), and a few other situations that cropped up this week related to memorial attendance...... It took all I had to just get there and strain to hear the speaker from where I had to sit. If I hadn't helped my dad he could not have done it alone. And his supoort driving us to and from the venue ( I only did the parking so he could take mom in - plus I stayed back until the perfumes of those coming in could settle somewhat before I attempted to breathe in there - with my new bamboo carbon filter mask I still suffered the effects last night and a little still now) .... If we hadn't worked together to get there we would not have made it. But we did! Yet, I felt disconnected and exhausted and overwhelmed. That made me sad, until I read this daily text!! Jesus and Jehovah understand the toil life sometimes takes on us. They understand when we try yet feel we've failed miserably!
  2. Venus, how do you use the molasses? Just on a spoon or in other foods? What benefits do you find from it?
  3. Ouch! Just reading your symptoms and pain made me cringe. I also find staying active helps. Even tho cleaning is probably too much at times, I would not be as mobile as I am if I didn't keep moving. By the time I finsh work in the morning tho and drive home (the sitting seizes me up after the work), I can hardly hobble into the house. Same in the mornings - fingers, feet, back, neck all stiff and so sore it's hard to walk down the stairs. It gets better as I move. I do need to start doing my stretches each morning (and probably before bed too) so thanks for the reminder. I've gotten out of the habit. I will add stretches am / pm to my daily reminder list on the fridge now.
  4. We have had a rough winter and are worn down so we are trying to build ourselves back up. We've also had a few lean years where we couldn't eat as many fresh veggies and fruit as we would have liked so now trying to concentrate on more good healthy foods. We have started our seeds for a little fresh produce garden. We are planning a better sleep schedule starting next week. I need to do exercise (other than the work we do cleaning) so hope to start back to T-tap and walking to DVDs in the house for now until it warms up and the ice melts. Plus I need to build my stamina and fix my pinched nerve issue that makes my leg go numb when I walk or stand before I can even walk around the block. Going for Mri for checking on the status of my spinal stenosis Thursday so I can start acupuncture, physio, osteo soon.
  5. We've been trying to do things to help each of us health wise and was hoping we could all share things we do / tried to feel better, have energy, get healthier. First, we are all drinking warm water with 1/2 a lemon, 1/2 a lime juiced, 1 inch sliced or grated turmeric, 1 inch sliced or grated ginger, and honey to taste (I will be buying mankua soon for its healing properties) steeped for 5-10 minutes. They say you can make it and steep overnight (and I guess refrigerate) to get more benefit from the ginger and turmeric. We are using it for the digestive properties (acid reflux, ibs, etc) and the anti inflammatory properties (arthritis, fibro, ibs, other joint pain) I've read turmeric also helps protect the brain and memory (I can use all the help I can get). This combo is supposed to refresh & energize you also and alkalize the body. We also are trying to juice / nutribullet daily - adding chia seeds and other healthy stuff to nourish our bodies more and reduce cravings / hunger. We mix it up with different greens and fruits. Any other tips?
  6. I don't know what a morel is - never heard of them. Guess I better go google 'em!
  7. Oh and I have a 6 drawer storage unit (those white / clear ones on wheels) that housed all our math manipulatives and markers, pencil crayons, paper, etc. (that needs to be sorted this summer and sold off / given away now too) Often that ended up coming and living in the kitchen / family room area too.
  8. We had a separate space for most of our time homeschooling - all the books, desks, crafty / science stuff stored there. But it always migrated to the main living space. Kitchen table, family room... It was good to have everything in one area but sometimes I found it easier to have a roller file cart (2 levels of baskets) to keep the main stuff we were working with close to our hub of living. It's just kind of come to a point where I have one bookshelf (gasp! Only one now!) of reference books and odds and ends of our homeschool life that I will sort thru again this summer. (I will sell what I know is no longer needed for us but I will keep reference for history/science and geography) We also have 2 bookcases of theocratic resources that I considered part of our learning journey there (I can't part with my paper books and just go only digital yet), a small desk and a sofa to curl up and read / study on.
  9. Wow! That's COOL!! Now to find a barrel....
  10. Lettuce is pretty easy, can be reseeded as you use it, and grows well in planters that hang from balconies. Do you have a balcony? A big pot that you can take inside for cooler months can be a year round herb garden - whatever you use most of - parsley, basil, chives, oregano, dill, cilantro, mint, - combine a few in a circle around the pot. Tomatoes too - stake (any tall stick will do - bamboo or something like it) in a large pot on balcony. You can do cherry tomatoes in one and regular in another. I like fresh salad ingredients so that is what I'm leaning towards.
  11. I feel so sick to my stomach thinking about the grief this grandmother (and of course the rest of the family) must be feeling. How could she ever anticipate such a senario? Oh,so sad!
  12. I want to keep the potted herb garden in the house year round (may add cilantro) but have a cat that wants to dig the dirt and make a mess. I need to figure out how to get him to leave it alone. Hanging from fence : lettuce / kale Big pots : tomatoes, peas, peppers
  13. Oops, just remembered my hanging fence planters / brackets, big patio pots are snowed into the garden shed. Hope it melts enough before I need them. I haven't planted anything for the past 4 years so forgot they were out there instead of in the garage.
  14. This sounds wonderful and a project my daughter will love!
  15. This is great! I can get lots of toilet rolls from my cleaning jobs (plus retrieved the ones from our recycle bin) Fantastic! Also lighter for window boxes which I will hang on the fence so the rabbits don't get the lettuce (and now that you mentioned it, Renee) , I'm going to plant kale since we use it so much.
