  1. I think you guys are WRONG on the number of SONGS! Is there 5 MORE songs to go OR SIX more songs to go??? Yeah I can do math just like you can. But there is a song called Long Suffering, Song 78. We don't use that term anymore. Long Suffering is Patience and we already have a song on patience. Given the syllable difference, it doesn't seem likely that patience will just be substituted. The whole song will need to be reworked or replaced. 1. Our Sov’reign Lord, Jehovah, Is zealous for his holy name. He fervently desires To clear it from unrighteous blame. Through many generations, Great endurance he has shown; Long-suffering and patient, Not weary has he grown. His will is that salvation All sorts of people might attain. Long-suffering forbearance By God shall not have been in vain. 2. Long-suffering is needed To keep us on our godly path. It lets our heart be tranquil, Protects us from unrighteous wrath. It finds the good in others, Always hoping for the best. It lets us keep our balance In times when we’re distressed. Along with other virtues That holy spirit can bestow, Long-suffering will help us To imitate the God we know Hopefully the FDS will completely scrap this song for a prettier song! Also we have a lot of songs that will be reworded! The song that opened up the annual meeting last year, i think that was the year, had one of the new REWORDED SONGS at the beginning! It was much more beautiful with the rewording. So we have those issues as well. Also MORE than likely some disappointing changes as well. Will the "Depths of Sheol" be changed in God's Wonderous Works! I hope not!
  2. I kinda get the feeling that quite a few of the 2009 songs were Armageddon or Great Tribulation songs! THis is the WAY for example reminds us that despite whatever disappointments there will be NO HIGH WAY TO LOVE not FINER WAY TO PEACE or something like that. 134 SEE YOURSELF, is designed to get us to see our hope during the deepest despair! The songs about prayer or take my life, each are designed for us to deal with difficulties as they arise and remain faithful. These last few songs are songs for this system but i thought a lot of the 2009 songs were great tribulation songs. I've been thinking another Memorial song to change things up a bit would be good too.
  3. Here is an interesting article. Can you guess the top three longest books in the Bible? http://overviewbible.com/longest-book-of-the-bible/
  4. Here is a link to a good article on the oldest KJV DRAFT manuscript found. Jason BeDuhn also comments in this article as well. http://news.discovery.com/history/religion/oldest-draft-of-king-james-bible-discovered-15101.htm
  5. I think these two points are very interesting points! You I've been wondering if certain Presidential candidates who are encouraging and jerking at people to take arms to prevent mass shootings might be ominous! Can you imagine what people will do with all those guns as they become faint out of fear? Furthermore, we are already desensitized by shoots. Its just numbers. We could find ourselves in a mindless war zone in the coming years. Wow! all of this could be building into something! America may have it coming to them after all. (This is a personal reason I also thought it might be good to serve where the need is great.)
  6. Are you asking about the JW Library app or are you asking about JW Broadcasting? The two are totally different, although you can download videos that appear on TV.JW.ORG. The Greek channel is there. Unfortunately it is all in subtitles but its available.
  7. I use a Windows tablet. I like it because I can install the Watchtower Library and have access to all the information we have. But the buttons are way too small on my 8in tablet.
  8. I'm open to further discussion of the neutrality issue if anyone wants to discuss where lines might be drawn. At the meeting I'm assuming everyone else is talking about here, I remember my elders saying that its ok to have an opinion except you can't voice it. Later that day i was surprise to hear that he was voicing his opinion on a number of issues. lol Personally, i think one can technically voice their opinion on something and still be neutral. For me, I'm often open to fact finding and exploring ideas and wondering what might happen. For example, the issue that boggles my mind here in the US is how can people be so adamant about not having gun control. The only thing that I've gotten so far is that "People kill people and guns never killed anyone," "a safe society is a well armed society," and that the fear of the government is real. Those arguments sound beyond crazy to me. Now the government one does make me pause but... its not the government killing people right now, its all the lunatics shooting up everything. YOu might not live to see government takeover. I'm interested in what the other side has to say but i simply have not heard a convincing argument. I don't think i violated neutrality except to possibly imply that Putin's actions to "protect people" were simply ruses for land grabs. I'm not sure that is controversial really. I understand that we have to be careful. However, is the only true line where people start wanting to take action--either yourself or those you talk to? Personally, I hate Putin because of his record on religious freedom, otherwise, I couldn't care less about him. My further words May he rot in ... might violate neutrality.
  9. Its becoming blurry now. But I think Orthodoxy broke off of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) around 1000 CE. Since then, these two factions have been at enmity. Each excommunicating the other. The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), a sect of Orthodoxy, has churches worldwide. These nationalized groups are not centralized like the RCC and thus they are more like Protestant Denominations to each other. They also consider themselves the catholic or universal church. I'm not sure if they actual use those terms today.
  10. i just thought this was a joke even if he did say it! Generally I agree with you. Yet still, we have to be careful about spreading this world's propaganda. There is poison in the air only God knows which voices and what noise will stir the "sons of disobedience" to action! Some propaganda can be so well crafted that it is hard to sort out the truth.
  11. Russian Orthodoxy. From what I've read, he does seem to be a devout Russian Orthodox. Many other mainline Christians are persecuted even Catholics. I don't think Catholic were even allowed in Russian for years.
  12. Point taken! I could see your point more clearly if I was talking about Obama and I was talking about him badly all the time. Putin? Seriously, i think this one is hard. My point of shock, however, is due to the fact that IT IS the RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH asking PUTIN to protect Christians everywhere! The Russian Orthodox Church is ONLY interested in protecting itself. It has persecuted JWs, Pentacostals, Baptists, Roman Catholics, etc. It is hard to imagine that either one of them is really interested in protecting Christianity. I mean seriously?
  13. Yeah, there seems to be come people who were taking this seriously. lol I can't imagine why unless they were Russian themselves but even that is not a complete excuse. Russians are completed fooled by the propaganda.
  14. This is an interesting article about how people, possibly even apostates, make much to do about nothing. I understand though that the deaf are a sensitive people. But whoever this person is just jumped right to conclusions we can discredit. Its just goes to show how we can take something so simple and turn it into something it is not. http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/well-good/72742962/deaf-aotearoa-flooded-with-complaints-about-jehovahs-witness-church
