Old age can be challenging. Last friday, Sid and i were out scoping for rocks. Flat rocks for a walk way.
I spot, he does the rest of the chore. Its something we enjoy.
I was on flat groud. I did not pay enough attention to where to put my feet. (I had my walking stick, um, in the truck) The ground was flat, with a big rock here and there. Somehowʼ i lost my balance, started to fall, but blocked myself. (Big mistake.) Friends, I sprained my hip! As in, “sometimes a sprain is worse then a break”. Sid found he could not carry me. He moved the truck as close to me as possible. And, eventually, i was able to get in the truck.
But, i had to sit on the running board, (yes, we have one on the truck. It pops out when the door is opened. I sat on the running board, trying to catch my breathe, and was literally going in and out of consciousness, from the pain, as i sat there.
Got me in the truck, and, off to the hospital, some 2 and 1/2 hour trip.
I had mobility, but, very painful mobility.
I seriously prayed my hip was not broken. Really bad news for an 80 year old youngster!
An X-Ray and a CT scan later, nothing broken. My right leg was useless. We have crutches and a walker here at home. After falling a couple of times, i learned how to walk, sort of.
I am healing. Dr. says it will be a month, and, i will be my old,(old, old) self. I can walk, sort of dragging my leg along. I can get up and down the stairs. I’m still in pain, but I feel it’s manageable. (They gave me all sorts if medications. For pain, muscle spams, and inflammation, etc)
Iʼve Zoomed a couple of meetings. And, plan to go Sunday. The spasms are gone. Now it hurts, for the most time, just when i move.
Sid has been steller in taking care of meʼ, and doing everything in the house. I am being very good taken care of. And, i thank Jehovah for that fact.
I am constantly challenging myself. I move around, and do what i can. One gets really weak, fast, not moving around.
Watch out for falling, friends. I thought i was. Learned a lesson. I did.

I would like to listen to, “Draw Close to Jehovah”. How can I manage that? Please.
I’m starting to recognize the talks from the conventions. (Though the last talk on Sunday never gets old!) The Dramas, been that way for years.
I lost my app that downloads the current WT’s, so I can’t automatically listen to them.
So, this, I want to be my next mental adventure!
Right now, I’m listening to the Dramatic Bible Readings. (I think these are my favorites)
I woke up to Noah preparing the ark, and all that entailed, Saturday morning.
I listen to the current postings on JW.org. But, that is a stopgap. I want to see them!
My mind does not behave like I want it to. I feel like I always need to have it busy. Always.
TV? Bad for me. Most of what my husband watches I’d reality shows. Gold Digging, Homestead Rescues, oh, and that vet show from Colorado.
I have to make myself try to actually watch it. (I at least want to be playing Scrabble on the iPad)
Oh, and I love listening to our current bible reading.
I’m retired, but my mind isn’t!
Oh, this is not impressive. It’s sort of how I keep sane!
In reality, it’s nervousness. I’ve been that way since I was a kid. (Sitting at the table, reading cereal boxes)
We didn’t have a lot, as a kid, but we did have a “How and Why”, set of books. Have you any idea how much I enjoyed them? I still can smell the pages. (We also had a beautiful set of encyclopedia, Britinnica(?) Untouched, as our house burned down. That was for our future.
    I also took piano lessons.
    Then my Dad died.
    I became an unwanted step-kid.
Can you imagine how much I am looking forward to that first hug?

This morning, I dreamt about Paradise, it was extraordinary. I cried with happiness in the end when I finally could connect to the website that had a huge banner "Welcome in Paradise". My tears woke me up

This actually happened. We inherited this cat. His name was, “Dowg”, because he sort of acts like one. He will get into the bathtub with water in it. He’s fascinated by water. He will follow us around like a puppy. He picks up things and carries whatever around, in his mouth.
He came into the house, proud as a peacock. In his mouth was a hard plastic wrapper they put around wood.
The house is being worked on by the tribe, and he finds treasures they left.
Oh, and he is mouthy. I mean mouthy. He has a big vocabulary. Even makes noises when he sleeps. Like a dog!
Well my husband comes up with the. Best names after we get to know our critters.
He named this cat, “barking dog” in Yurok. (We are both Yurok Indians) And guess how it is pronounced? “May-Gok”. Yep. I didn’t think about it until a sister pointed out that names sounds like you know who. Then she said, she will just picture that one as a barking dog.
Yes, this is one special kitty!
