  1. Heat wave is hitting, so I'm staying inside. Been pondering some scriptures about environment and climate, such as Isaiah 35:1, "The wilderness and the parched land will exult. And the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron." Jehovah is a lover of variety, as proved by his creation. Not all locations will have the exact same climate and environment. Makes me wonder what my area will be when the time comes.

Beautiful points, Julie! Jehovah loves variety so surely we will see a variety of climate and landscape in the new world.

If you'd like to discuss that subject I suggest starting a topic about it. It will get a lot more attention than a status update like this. :)

  2. Pictures, videos, articles, inspired fiction, art... Oh yes! I plan to share!
  3. We can see between about 3,500 and 4,500 visible stars on any given night in a single hemisphere under perfect conditions. Let's see. Start off by studying each of those in depth. Classify sun. How many planets? How many moons around those planets? Any special peculiarities about anything in that solar system? What is the name Jehovah gave each of them (The end of the star numbering system! Yay!)? And after that? Maybe start with the brown dwarfs nearby that can't be seen with the naked eye and move outwards. That's not counting if you just want to jump to studying galaxies instead of stars! :rubs hands together gleefully:
  4. Look at coloring. It was a kids-only thing when I was young, and yet I remember my parents sometimes coloring with us kids. And now? Adult coloring books are all the rage! It's color! It's creative! It's so relaxing and a big stress relief after a hard day. Get out the coloring books, everyone! Let's color!
  5. It was iffy if I should get the Covid vaccination because of underlaying medical issues, but after weighing the pros and cons I did it. Wow, did the second dose knock me to the floor. For those with any auto-immune issues, a little publicized fact is that the side-effects can last up to a month after. For me it was 3 weeks before I started to rebound.

Wow! That's a long time. Much more than your 'arm will be sore the next day and that's it' that most of us experience. Glad you've rebounded.

  6. Welcome back, Sister Julieann, and welcome to Creative Writing!

Hope you get the time to post some of your stories.

I love "The Secret Garden" too. I have it downloaded on an audio book and listen to it over and over. :D

Thank you for the kind words! I've been enjoying the poetry in the club (poetry is something I've never been able to really write). I tend to write fiction instead. :)

  7. On making beds, I have only so much energy. No one else goes in my room, so not going to use the energy for it. Another rule we have in the house: Put dates on top of opened containers in the fridge. Yeah, it's annoying, but not as painful as getting sick from food that has turned. Not to mention it saves on the food bills, as you know what is getting older and needs to be used up faster.
  8. I don't have much money, but I'm writing mine! I think I have enough change around to send one letter to each of the addresses. Feels good to actively help our Brothers and Sisters in other lands.
  9. Helping my Uncle who is now diagnosed with the same brain cancer as Mom. The Verde Valley congregation is a true blessing to the family!

  10. I have an e-ink Kindle as well. I use the computer a lot, so switching to a reflective technology (paper is a reflective technology, just a really old one :P) reduces eyestrain. I can read on it much longer than backlight technology (computer screens, ipads, smartphones, and the like). So for me, it's much more than just reading in bright light. It's a fundamental difference in how the technology is perceived by the eyes. That said, yes, Calibre is a wonderful tool for converting formats.
  11. Waiting for the uproar from the scientific community. Watching how they react to things like this sometimes like watching a bunch of five-year-olds (who happen to use big words).
  12. @ Perspective: Sounds like a congregation I grew up in for a while. As a kid, it made a big impression on me that most of the kids, when they came of age, left the truth. Only a few stayed, and those that did, tended to move away to other congregations. For a kid, yes, that was a sobering observation. I was determined not to be so judgemental and taking things beyond the bible's words.
