KingDavid got a reaction from sis little in JW Broadcasting for January 2019
    In German:

    Jahresversammlung 2018
    Vortrag Anthony Morris

Was gehört alles zu diesem Kräftemessen?

We received this email from out service Overseer:

In view of the potential for civil unrest in the next few days, we encourage you to take additional precautions to protect your families. Proverbs 22:3 states: “The shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself.” Since a disturbance can arise unexpectedly, family heads should consider what steps they may take to protect their family, such as avoiding unnecessary travel, not leaving their home at night, and avoiding areas prone to protests, if possible.

Seeing the world become more violent and divided during the last days is not surprising. Of course, as Jehovah’s people we will continue to maintain our strict neutrality and heed Jesus’ warning to be “cautious as serpents and yet innocent as doves.”—Matt. 10:16.

Then, last night, I saw this:

    https://www.wkyc.com/mobile/article/news/politics/elections/75-percent-of-americans-concerned-about-civil-unrest-election-day/75-6726609d-bbcf-4f3a-9637-748d4a60aa5c

A recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll found that 75% of Americans are concerned about civil unrest.

Police in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa have already limited or canceled vacations around election time so there will be more people ready to work.

I have some news which may dishearten some . Based on his age and general condition of the POTUS. He has a 94% chance of FULL RECOVERY without lasting secondary problems.
Not to rain on the parade or anything. But we who take care of the sick actually are pretty good at our jobs and Walter Reed is going to apply the very best of care.
My personal thoughts on this turn of events.
This is a family, of people.  The presidents son in law has said son very fine things about Jehovah’s People. The POTUS and FLOTUS are parents and grandparents. They are constantly maligned and double crossed even by people who pretend to be close friends. They live under circumstances for which probably none of us here would want to trade.  That is the life they are in probably not even knowing just how empty that life is in actuality. Never really knowing who to trust and who truly has your best interests in mind. Never knowing a true friend. From my standpoint it isn’t for a Christian in an Instance  like this to do anything but give consolation and offer prayers. So that is what I have done.

After a short vowel follows, according to the new German spelling rules from 1996, now a double s (ss), instead of a sharp S (or Eszett / ß).
For example: Fluss, nass, dass (In the case it means "so that". But the article "das" (means "the") remains an exception )

After a long vowel or a double sound (au, äu, ei, eu) follows a sharp S. So it didn't fall away.
    For example: Spaß, Fleiß...

Gerrit Lösch (I hope I translated him understandably):

"Suppose a smoker wants to smoke his goodnight cigarette in bed in the evening, but finds that there is none left. What does a good smoker do then? Would he say to himself, "Then I'll smoke an additional cigarette tomorrow"? No, he dresses and goes to a shop or a vending machine. That's how we should handle Bible reading."

"Falling asleep while smoking can be fatal, by the way. Falling asleep while reading the Bible is not a big problem. As long as it doesn't happen every day. It's not a sign of little appreciation, Jehovah won't hold it against us. It is a sign that we really tried!"

KingDavid got a reaction from ChrisC in German New-World-Translation (Revised 2018)
    For example Luke 22:20:
Rev.1986: "Dieser Becher bedeutet den neuen Bund kraft meines Blutes"

Rev.2018: „Dieser Becher steht für den neuen Bund, der durch mein Blut in Kraft tritt"

Today, the preposition "kraft" (uncapitalized, means "virtue") is almost only used in the officialese, for example:
"kraft meines Amtes erkläre ich euch zu Mann und Frau"
    or for fun:
    "kraft meiner Wassersuppe"

The word is often confused with the noun "Kraft" (capitalized, means "force, power").

Such examples may explain why the new translation has so many additional pages than the old one

Sorry, I thought the other thread was about the announcement and the release itself. The Bible will be available in so many languages that it would be nicer if each language had its own thread for the special highlights?

I liked Br. Lösch's suggestion if you're afraid to read the bible in bed and fall asleep: stand next to your bed and read it. 🤣

Or take a cold shower, you should be awake for at least 30 minutes. 😁

His point was: if you love something, you find time

Wow, you got a lot of exciting stories to tell. When did you leave Austria? The Elberfelder Bible was also in use for a long time in eastern Germany, because it contained the name of Jehovah in many places and was more easily available.

So happy for you German brothers and sisters. You’ve been waiting a long time for that.

One brother who works on convention planning and has lots of contacts in branch offices said the International Conventions in Miami and other Spanish speaking countries will be memorable this year. I asked why. He just said “wait. You’ll see”. I hope that means what I think it means.
