  1. Hello everyone, I am wondering if I can use specific verse of NWT and add in my application. Is there a thing that I might consider? Thank you for the reply! ☺️☕
  2. I love looking at the physiology of the human body. I'm awe struck by the complexity of the various components that make up a person. I also get so thrilled when I listened to the specialists talking about the damage to the musculature due to the myriads of injuries that I have incurred due to my carelessness. I wished I could have taken more care when it is such an intricated masterpiece. I don't think I have done much damage to my feet yet but my knees, that is another story. Seems I'm more prone to falls with each successive day.
  3. Anyone care to share their favourite poems or poets? One thing that puts me off poetry is that I find it hard to understand the matter under consideration. I even struggle with Shakespeare although I did the 'Merchant of Venice' in my school days. I also had this wonderful trainee teacher who introduced me to the love for poetry. Of course it helps that there free Shakespearean plays online during this lockdown period. A great way to come to love the arts and literature. https://www.theclassroom.com/benefits-reading-poems-11971.html (Updated September 26, 2017) Benefits of reading poetry 1. Academic Benefits The US undersecretary of education (2012), praised arts education, claiming it teaches critical thinking and innovation, helping students see the big picture. All of these skills, she argues, lead students to be more creative problem-solvers. Just like visual arts or music, reading and writing poetry require concentration, patience and attention to details, skills that can be carried into other areas of study. Further, poetry has been shown to increase reading fluency among young students by teaching them that the placement of words, as well as the words themselves, affects meaning. 2. Intellectual Benefits .....Additionally, poetry increases verbal intelligence by introducing readers not just to new words, but to different meanings for words they already know 3. Emotional Benefits Poetry enhances readers’ emotional lives. As reported by the UK's Telegraph Media Group, researchers from the University of Liverpool used brain scans to measure volunteers’ responses to reading..... 4. Empathetic Benefits Poetry increases readers’ empathy. In 2011, The Guardian News reported on its website that studies from the University at Buffalo indicate readers put themselves in the place of protagonists while reading, making them more sympathetic toward characters. By stepping into another’s life, readers shared experiences they could not have otherwise and demonstrated greater empathy for characters. These are changes Oatley believes readers carry into everyday life, which could have a profound positive effect on society. One of my favourite Poems :- 1. Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard BY THOMAS GRAY The curfew tolls the knell of parting day, The lowing herd wind slowly o'er the lea, The plowman homeward plods his weary way, And leaves the world to darkness and to me.
  4. What a beautiful video. It really brought Corinth to life for us. I hope it will become part of the media gallery of the study Bible. Link: https://www.jw.org/en/library/videos/#en/mediaitems/LatestVideos/docid-1001072308_1_VIDEO I hope we get more videos like this.
  5. Couplets frequently rhyme and have the same length and rhythm, or meter. There are closed couplets, where the two lines are separate sentences, and open couplets, where the first line runs onto the second line. Couplets whether closed or open, the two lines belong together, forming a unit and sharing a thought. https://examples.yourdictionary.com/couplet-examples.html Perhaps the best place to start when looking for couplets is with the famous couplets from William Shakespeare. He often ended a sonnet with a rhyming couplet that summed up the main theme of the poem.
  6. Who knows and uses Bible Maps ? Free Soft : Bible Maps. Install via Playstore. 100% free and open source Bible app for Android (only). Locate all the places mentioned in the Bible on a map 100% free of charge, with no strings attached. Complete Locations. All the places mentioned in the Bible marked on a map of the earth. I appreciate this application and you ?
  7. Is there a version of the Bible Translation of the new world in standalone on Android or Windows ? In France we had NWT Bible Pro. A Bible outside JW Library 👓
  8. Anti-trinity bookmark Bible cards View File I made some book cards which can be printed off and laminated. I measured them out and so when they print they "should" be the exact size which can fit into a Bible. I have covered topics quickly of why our Bibles say "a god" at John 1:1 instead of "was God", the meaning of theos and Jesus being called a god, as well as on the topic of 1 John and the falsehood of the "3 are 1" scripture. All with references and quotes to direct lexicons and interlinears (Diaglott) with screen shots for instant visual evidence also. I plan on just placing these cards at specific scriptures seeing that people who have trinity beliefs are quick to the draw on them. Submitter EccentricM Submitted 07/14/2017 Category Reference

  10. One of my favourite humorous books is by a chap from the Northeast called Scott Dobson and he wrote a book called "Larn Yersel Geordie" (Teach Yourself Geordie), which is the dialect they speak in the North of England in a town called Newcastle, and other areas around the UK that were mining villages (or next to them). I have attached an extract from the book which recounts the story of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. If you don't speak Geordie then you'll have no idea what it's on about but if you're familiar with the dialect and culture then you should find this a very funny take on the Biblical account! Enjoy your weekend!
  11. Over the last week or two, we've studied how the Church put the Bible under lock and key, when it wasn't destroying it outright. In 2008, this article came up in the news near here. http://www.thenational.ae/news/world/asia-pacific/catholic-dominance-intimidates-other-faiths#full I would especially draw attention to the second paragraph in the article: After hearing about how the bible was forbidden to anyone outside the Clergy in the Dark Ages, it struck me as amazing that this was happening in 2005; and probably still today. The tactics haven't changed in 2000 years.

  16. Just noticed Psalms is up in audio format now. Not sure if this has already been posted. If so then this is a reminder. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/
  17. Hi, does someone know if the large edition of the NWT is bound in "the old way" or with glue, like all of our new publications. I hope you understand what I mean. English is not my first language, sorry. Greetings
  18. I understand that this is operated by brothers? Has anyone used their services? http://meander.co.uk/
  19. Before learning the bible, i would marvel at philosophers, motivational speakers, etc. and their 'wisdom'. Thankfully, i now know that every so called wise saying, is just an interpetation of what the bible already said. Please post a worldly saying...along with a scripture... that said it first. I'll start with one by Abraham Lincoln, who once said: "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool...than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." Well, the bible already said it... Proverbs17:28 "Even a fool who keeps silent will be considered wise, And the one who seals his lips, discerning".
  20. http://www.clevelandbanner.com/view/full_story/16962037/article-WRIGHT-WAY--A-New-King-James-Bible Excerpts: A new King James Bible has broken a centuries-old tradition and is following in the footsteps of several Bible translations that restored the Divine Name to its original place in the Old Testament. The Divine Name King James Bible is raising eyebrows in the world of Bible translators for replacing the capitalized GOD and LORD with the English translation “Jehovah” in 6,972 places. Translators of the Divine Name King James Version are following the pattern of other Bible translations, including Young’s Literal Translation, Darby Translation, The New World Translation, The American Standard Version and The Bible in Living English, in restoring the Divine Name where it was originally written. Explaining their reason for restoring the Divine Name where it originally appeared, the publishers stated online, “Does it not seem clearer than ever why Jesus instructed us at Matthew 6:9 to pray ‘Hallowed be thy name’ not ‘hidden be thy name.’ Jesus faithfully showed why the name of Jehovah must be known to us, for only by that way would we know who Jesus is and how actually Jesus set the pattern for pure worship. “This is directly tied to our having eternal life, for Jesus himself said in prayer to Jehovah, ‘And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.’” — John 17:3.”
  21. Here is a brief video with instructions on how to import EPubs into Moon Reader Pro and organize categories.
  22. When you look for a scripture in the Watchtower Library CDROM, it shows the reading from the new 2013 edition. Is there a way to quickly see that same verse in the old version? So far the only way I know to find a verse in the 1984 Reference Edition is going to All Publications - Bibles - Reference Bible and use the menus to find the verse. If you are trying to read Psalms 119:150 that method is rather clumsy.
  23. Hi, I am towards the end of finishing my first novel: there are certain sections of it that I start with a Bible scripture that introduce or shed light on the subject. According to "Terms of Use" on the jw.org website http://www.jw.org/apps/index.html?option=YRTNYGRsZF&txtCMSLang=E, "Site visitors may download copyrighted materials from this site for non-commercial use only." Does that mean I cant "copy & paste" verses and use them in my (yes: commercial) novel? I know that the highly esteemed and priceless translation work belongs the the Society, but is there a "Bible exception? Or would i really have to use a Bible Translation that is free to use? Thx for Your input.
