The most I've learned so far is that they are actually fleshly brothers meeting for the first time after separation from the Korean War.

They met during inter-Korean temporary family reunions. S. Koreans were allowed to spend 3 days in N. Korea to meet their N. Korean relatives from whom they had been separated since the War.

These 2 brothers hadn't seen each other since Vietnam, not knowing that both of them had become Witnesses..
