Hi,

My name is David Crayne, a short introduction to myself is in the welcome forum ;-)

I love writing, and wanted to introduce my newest book "The New World Chronicles".

We are encouraged to think of the New World and us in it, and out of a personal project I decided to write a book about what it could be like. Description is at the end of this post.

Is there anyone else who has written "BiFi" (I call it Biblical Fiction). What experience have you made? Care to give any constructive criticism? I published it via Createspace / Amazon.

Description:

This is a compilation of short stories describing life as it could be after the beginning the promised New World, and after the end of the Old System of Things.

It is a fictious description of what life could be like in Paradise: a life without suffering, without pain and the problems of today. Although the characters on this small stage and their surroundings are pure imagination, the various fights they went through in the past, and probably some of the challenges they face in the future, aren’t.

The stories all happen between the Great Day and the End of the 1.000 Year Reign. They describe the hope, the freedom and love of the future, and the warning of the wicked past. A New World is being built. An old one is being dismantled. Old and new love is bound. Decisions have to be made.

This book is designed to give an enlightening, humorous yet faith-strengthening look into the future. They are a peek at what life in the New World after Armageddon could look like, in day to day life, from the viewpoint of day to day people.

Hello David,

There is another member who also wrote a book that if I recall was similar to yours. I'd have to search for the topic. He got a little flack around here from some of the more sensitive members (you only registered to promote the sale of your book, brother spammer - blah blah blah) and in response he put it in our old Files Library for free. Hopefully the fangs don't come out for you, lol!

I've got it on my computer here somewhere and should really get around to re-adding things to our new Files Library.

THANK You very much for mentioning this. All of the following words are written with the friendliest of intentions (just in case the written word sounds otherwise )

Of course one can think that an author Would only want to "promote" his or her book via a Forum like this, but please think this: where Would you let others know about this Special interest topic?

...and get feedback in the first place?

I put a lot of thought into this: there is no other way to let brothers and sisters know about the book. Due to the fact that yes, it costs something, it automatically has the aftertaste of "wait a minute, he or she is just trying to sell me something!"

It is mentioned here as I want word to get around about the thoughts I had: close friends really appreciated it and liked it. I got solid positive reviews and constructive criticism.

There are many sites that offer book covers, calendars and programs for $\£\¥€:

as I am selling this book for a price, I can't separate between "hey, check out my work" and "if you like it, it costs..."

It is work and time I put into it, and - I do not want to cash off from my brothers and sisters-, but I do want to work as a serious author.

Other brothers and sisters are musicians: I would also buy the CD and not expect it to be free....and not consider it spam if they introduced it.

Am I sounding right?

Welcome David! I would read and critique your book. I have also written a book but it is not related the New World.

Yep.

Feel free to pit a sample up - like amazon - and see what kind of bites you get.

Hey David I enjoyed reading your book! I must also admit there were a number a of errors-starting on page 15-that detracted from what could be a wonderful read! The timeline for each character was a bit choppy and was not fluid or free flowing! This business with Philemon...and where did he learn to speak with contractions...among other things. Thank you for allowing me to read your book it was quite the read! It allowed me to glimpse the desperately needed future.

Hi,

Thank You for Your Feedback!

On errors: i have read The manuscript Tons of Times and had Friends read over it: i Guess that is a Never ending Story. More Homework for me ;-)

Timeline choppy? I guess it depends on what the reader personally expects: it's a collection of short stories, and it is purposefully kept short but intriguing. Your feedback on that aspect is a first, but I will gladly keep it in mind when thinking of revising.

The whole idea was to paint a picture of paradise...with words. My personal picture, without dogma or strict personal manifestations. I am also looking forward as to how close or far I came ;-)

Thank You very much for Your feedback, very much appreciated. Maybe I can invite You to proofread my next upcoming novel ;-).

I love the book because it transported me in the delightful future. When I say the timeline is not fluid...if I can recall Chris somehow still had two small sons in the New World when 12 years had already passed from the Old World based on what I remember reading. I don't understand why the Friends were still searching for things and foraging for food and Philemon...if he is the same Phillemon in the Bible...I thought he had a wife or perhaps she did not make it...

And if I recall someone was drinking SODA?? there will be no soda in the New World LOL...I don't think so anyway. And then you made the black family the bad family who didn't listen. And last...well there may be more later...but you never start a sentence with a number instead you generally write the number out in letters. I especially loved the billionaire character and wanted you to expand his story.  I will accept the invitation to proof your next novel because the book was overall very good, and I will only say good things on Amazon.

Wow…You are a good critic ;-)

Chapter 1 – Scavenger

Why, one may ask, are the two looking for food in abandoned supermarkets?

They arent searching for „food“ as such, but luxury items. Also mentioned in the ex-billionaire chapter.

I think lack of food is at the bottom of the non-existent „what we still need“ list, -but-:

Picture:New World. Picture: reconstruction. Scene: Canada. You really dig pineapples. Upside? Paradise! Downside? Pineapples dont grow in Canada (or at least not yet ;-).

What about chocolate? Wines? Candy? What if you live on Hawaii but would want some maple syrup?

I doubt we would have the time or resources into producing such „luxuries“ –right- after The Great Day. (But lets not start a speculation discussion!)

The thought was just in basic terms: the non-essential could still exist in tightly sealed Containers in storages like a supermarket...…why not eat it ;-)

Quote: There will be no soda in the New World LOL...I don't think so anyway. End Quote.

I’d be careful there. Same reason I didnt mention steaks and burgers ;-)

..and about the „black family that didnt listen“? I will re-analyze that part, but there was absolutely no intent on laying that on any specific race. It doesnt matter but it was exactly the opposite: the black family took care of our „young“ brother, the family that didnt obey had no description whatsoever.

Hmm.  I have a "short story" that I started about David, ending with killing Goliath.  It's been in my computer, untouched, for about 5 years.  I kept re-writing and editing and finally I just didn't have any time left for it.  I also was only about a third of the way through and it was already at about 50 pages, so I guess it's not a short story anymore.   :uhhuh:

Maybe I should take it up again.
