Does anyone know the equivalent app for ipad of the JW Reader or if that is compatible?

Also what other essential apps are recommended?

Just moving over from Android Nexus 7 to Ipad Air. So any help is greatly appreciated.

So far I have installed idownloads plus & documents by readdle.

Equipd  ..  $3.99 and well worth it!         >>>    ???    >>>    APPLE ... Is there a way or an App for taking notes (like Assembly/Convention program) on one side of the screen, while having the Bible (or JW Library) on the other side of the screen?

Another vote for Equipd - and there is a new version of it coming soon which should be even better.

I also use iBooks, Adobe and Documents, but I tend to try many things and use the one I like best for a particular purpose.

A good thing with Equipd also is that you can go to it while recording in Notabilty, use the Bible picker to get straight to the verse(s) and click 'copy to clipboard', back to Notability and paste, and I can do that before the scripture is read!

I have not figured out how to do the cut and paste, but I do know, a double click will leave apps open. Before the meeting, I clear all but I books and JW.org. Well, the bible anyway. (You clear them by an up swipe) and I try to remember to turn the speaker off when I get to the hall.

And a TMS school work book is right here on our site for iPad users. It's fantastic. Has the bible high lights, as well as the rest of the school reference material. No need to worry about the Insight book. It is already downloaded in this app, as needed.

I use Notability to take notes. I think I will try to insert the scriptures after the fact, at home. Then maybe I can learn to do it at the hall. Some one always kindly comes up with convention notebooks.

You will just enjoy the electronic notebook more and more as you use it! Have fun!

I want to age without sharp corners, and have an obedient heart!

In the top bar of the Bible on Equipd, just to the right of the scripture reference are some icons. The first one from the left, nearest the scripture reference, is 'copy to clipboard'. Like two overlapping boxes.

Then back in notability just touch the screen where you want to type and the option to paste will come up.

Hope this helps.

Also does are there Apple alternatives for the Android JW Reader and Watchtower Library?

Equipd is probably the only app you will use until the official JW app is completely updated to include other publications.  It works by caching the files from the offical website.  Once the JW app is updated, Equipd is still a good tool since it contains other languages.  Good for those that study with others in different languages.  It is very easy to use and the briefcase portion allows you to store articles that may be helpful in the ministry.  I've personally created folders to cover politics, patriotism, homosexuality and blood transfusions and other items for those who ask.  The reason I have that is in case I am located somewhere that doesn't have WiFi (data plan for hotspot is a little out of my range right now) I can pull up an article to go over the material with the householder.  I agree with Christopher, check out the website. It's a great tool.

We are also in the middle of our Circuit Assembly looking around to see what and how others are possibly doing this. Trying to do in a smooth/easy not clumsy fashion so we don't loose focus on the speaker/talk info.   ....we may have to buy and try that Notability app you spoke of - just not sure if it fits the nich we're seeking ... or maybe it's a better way to get similar results. ... thanks all for continued help.

Hi Chris,  this thing that you do with Equipd & Notability [i'm gonna need further explanation how later]  - can it also be done with Documents?  ... cause I already have that app and I DL'd the CA program in Documents and made note boxes  highlighted right on to the program and have been flipping back to JWLibrary  or Equipd for Bible   ....  must be a simpler easier smoother way to do what I would like to do with our iPad. (please see my post above) ....  btw, great CA, Jehovah's speeding up our education!

All I do to cut and paste is to hold down on a word, options pop up, copy, double click on the iPad button on the bottom, open the other app I am using, press the spot where I want to paste (in Text mode) and paste. I do that for all the scriptures I want to move to whatever I am doing or studying.

I study my Watchtower and mags, and the KM in Notability. I like the books better in GoodNotes and EZPDF Reader. I like taking notes in GoodNotes as well. I have set up different "Bookshelves" for my Book, and CO visits another for Assemblies. I can put the Assembly program as the cover page. I also use the Meekspace for getting midweek study, I think you have to get the app thru Meekspace web site, but the icon is cute so definately worth the trouble.

I use FreeVideo for all my Theocratic videos. Equipt is definitely worth the price since that gives you the books off line once you cache them. So having the insight, Reasoning book, ministry school book...nice.

The only way to have various apps open in an iPad is doing the double click on the bottom button, that will show you what is open and going back and forth from like Notability and Bible...it will always show them together so your not having to hunt for them. Have two showing on a screen would be nice but if there is a way, I haven't found it.

Hi

Excuse me for my English, I am dutch.

In addition to my former question i am happy to tell you that I found an other epub reader that allows highlighting in the deeper links and in the bible text popup’s as well.

Its called NeoSoarBook (free) however the use of it is not as smooth as ibooks. For instance it doesn’t have the beautiful text popup’s on the same page (like in Ibooks) but brings you to a complete other page from which you will have to return back to the original page.

So for now I will stick to ibooks but will use NeoSoarBook during theocratic ministry school review because of being able highlighting the large part of text in de deeper links. (epub version)

I will keep on searching for a good epub reader that enables me to highlight bible text popup’s and text in deeper links

When I used pdf readers before to study the wt I scribbled and draw circles and arrows to underline certain words or thoughts.

A feature I sadly didn't find in any epub reader so far.

As a wt conductor I love to look at the pictures in a wt study article and like tot enhance the picture in order to see all the tiny details.

Often the little ones in our congregation will tell a lot of stories about the pictures.

Love to listen to them.

Ibooks let me enhance the pictures beautifully.

So I guess I will keep on searching for a good epub reader capable of doing all the things above mentioned. Highlighting text popup’s, (on the same page), highlighting text in deeper links, scribble and draw circles and arrows and enhance pictures. (that’s all :D )

I hope someone of you is also interested in such an epub reader and will also search with me.

I like to hear from you

your brother Ron

Hi Vic

Thanks for your answer

I carefully read your message a number of times in an effort to understand fully what you mean.

Scribble, draw circles and drawing arrows will probably only be possible for now in a good pdf reader.

In order to make that possible, I need to export the article from Equipd to my mac through email in Equipd format.

I did just that a couple of times.

Than on my mac in de print popup I choose for save the article as PDF and than tried to read the article in documents 5 by Readdle. Most links will bring me to Equipd bible verses, however sometimes not to the right verse.

Other links to an article from the WT brings me to WOL and than to the article right away.

So the links seems to work. (almost completely well in Documents by Readdle)

I tried to read the PDF file in adobe reader but the bible links didn’t work there, but when I touched the wt article link a popup asked me whether I would like to go to http://m.wol.jw.org to open te wt article.

I think I need to add-on PDF expert to documents 5 by Readdle.

Furthermore I am looking forward to Equipd 3.0

It’s a great study tool!!

I use the mentioned Documents by Readdle for studying pdf's since iBooks does not allow you to underline pdf format.

All epubs I just use the stock iBooks app - clean and works great.  Just wish you could pick more fonts - I find the limited number it comes with look pretty much the same.

Hi

As you know I was looking for a possibility to highlight, scribble, draw circles and arrows in my epub study wt.

And as some of you wrote, there are some good PDF readers that let you do that. Sadly there are no epub readers available at this time with these features.

So I discovered wwww.epub-to-pdf.com and converted the Epub January 15 WT from epub to pdf. All links stay alive and accessible!!

This method works fine although there might be other ways to convert epub to pdf as well.

Using a good pdf reader like PDFReader Pro now I can do all the things I wanted and above all add text at any place on the page where I want it to be in scalable fonts.

It works really great! Also within the text of every link!

The only negative point is that de links open on a different page and not in the nice popups on the same page. But than again that is a minor issue compared to the positive points .

So for now I am happy, in the mean time looking forward to the next update of Equipd.

May be the above story is interested for others that also like to scribble, and draw while studying there epub to pdf converted WT.

Thanks again.

Ron

If you double click the home button - all the open apps show and that seems the easiest way to switch back and forth.

I am going to have to try notability.

Just a note: I am a HUGE Android fan,  but I must say - that equipd app is enough to make me switch to an iPad - especially if you are doing any type of foreign language. IT is SO EASY to switch back and forth from one language to the other.
