So far, however, none of the items turned over to the authorities -– including a mangled piece of metal that officials say turned out to be part of a domestic ladder -– appear to come from MH370, according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

I am still not convinced.

I understood that sentence to mean debris turned in by locals, NOT the confirmed Boeing 777 flaperon. And since MH370 is the only 777 to crash in any ocean, and all the others are accounted for, that narrows down the potential sources significantly.

Who would they be, Glenn?

Just to go over the facts here, a beach cleanup turned up the 'flaperon' and several other pieces of debris (a clothing bag was one such) that could have been from the 'plane.

Right from the outset the view of anyone who had anything to do with it was that only the flaperon was connected with the 'plane and it was just in case that all that stuff was sent to France.

I think any reasonably intelligent person 'taking the lead' would have followed this from the beginning and been well aware of these things all the way.
