My sons wedding photos in China

Recommended Posts

Beautiful! They look like a great couple. And as a girl couldn't resist gawking at the beautiful dresses, especially the more traditional Chinese one (brides wear red there :0). Would love to visit China one day or even work there where the need is greater.

Good looking young man Leslie . I'm sure she will adore you as a " mother-in-law" .....such an interesting culture and history in China. Does your son speak Chinese?

Congratulations !

Both my sons speak Chinese! Travis, the youngest is fluent and teaches English in Shenzen--a private tutor now after working for the school system then a university there. Jason. The one pictured taught English for a while but now works in international sales.

I learned about Jehovah when my last child Travis was a senior in high school and Amit's graduated. Nine of my children are responsive to the Truth but My boys will respectfully listen. Daughter wants no part of the 'cult'. :-(

No. :-(. But alas, that is my special project! To be kind and loving and little by little worm my way in to their hearts! Prayers appreciated!!!

I will, Leslie... I know how you feel as I am alone in the truth...

I know they are not witnesses from their choice of the red dress... I, myself, love that dress very much as I saw it, sadly when I zoomed the picture, I saw chinese dragon pattern in the dress... That's why I made sure with you by asking...

I'm saying this not to ruin your happiness, but to make sure of what I see... They are truly innocent as they don't have any idea about what dragon is...

Except the dress pattern, I love the last picture the most... It is mixture between east and west, modern and traditional...

Congratulation for your son's wedding,Leslie!

What's wrong with the dragon pattern? In the Bible the Dragon = Satan, but that doesn't have to apply to all dragons, right? For instance, a bear attacked David's sheep and a bear is in one of Daniel's prophetic visions, would thaat make it wrong to wear a Winnie the Pooh t-shirt? In Asian cultures dragons represent wisdom and are "good" versus the Western dragons that terrorized princesses in castles and needed to be slain by the trusty knight. So I didn't see anything wrong with the pattern of her dress, it's just a traditional Chinese pattern. Still, it's sad that they aren't Witnesses, I wouldn't have been tipped off by the pictures.

Sadly dragon is not a real animal, and in Chinese culture, dragon is always related to myth, where the story is about chinese god or goddess, and so on... For me, it is "supernatural" animal, LOL...

Besides, chinese view dragon as a symbol of luck, then somehow it is related to fortune...

So, I am commonly avoid this "animal" include most of Chinese Witnesses that I know...

Plus, dragon has bad record in Bible, so I don't like him no matter he is western or chinese...

But hey Jadon, I love that picture too except for the dragon part...

Oh, okay, I understand now. Sorry for misunderstanding! I still like the pattern of the dress and the dress itself. Even if they aren't real and connected to all sorts of mythologies, dragons are still interesting to me, like how muany cultures have the same types of made up animals. Like jackolopes, haha. I also like dragons from fiction, like Mushu from Mulan. I guess it is a conscious thing, because many things have pagan origins and we may not even know that.

It's okay Jadon! :) :)

I dunno what Jackolope is, then I searched on internet... This is a new thing for me, and I am happy to know others' culture... Thank you for adding my "enyclopedia"...

To Leslie,

Sorry if I have somehow ruined the happines of your son's wedding by mentioning about the dress pattern in your thread. It's better I start a new one if others want to discuss more about this matter..

No problem! You didn't ruin anything for me! :-). That ship sailed when I did not attend the wedding! :-). Yes a beautiful dress/dresses indeed! A traditional Chinese and an American wedding gown for 'both' cultures.

Congratulations Leslie,

They are a beautiful couple.

A marriage brings responsibility. Responsibility brings up thought. Thought brings up questions. Questions need answers. Answers only come from Jehovah's word. You can find Jehovah's word on JW.ORG!

Make sure they know about JW.ORG.

So there is hope.

Agape, Lee
