There are news releases on JW.org regarding our Dear Brothers and Sisters in Eritrea, South Korea,Singapore and Turkmenistan. 714 are being imprisoned for their faith.

The article gives their names and sentences. There are 5 articles.

Our dear ones need our prayers as so many others do earth wide. Whether illness, or persecution we all face Satan's wrath for worshipping Jehovah.

We've been discussing the amount of problems cropping up lately. Seems to be so much, so bad and so convoluted.

I saw these lists and was wondering if there was any way of writing letters to any of them?

I've been praying for these ones since I heard of their circumstances, especially those in Eritrea. I pray Jehovah comfort them and give them joy despite their horrible circumstances. Perhaps they get to witness to other prisoners who would not normally hear the good news! There is a reason why Jehovah has not dealt with their situations yet.

These brothers and sisters are a burning light in a dark world!

How can it be, that humens treated like this, just because they won't learn how to KILL other humans (that's what war is).

It is - for nearly everybody - obvious what a great injustice happens here (thx to internet).

What do weapons, soldiers, patriots bring to this world - just go and take a look to the "news". Everyone can answer this for himself!

What i also wonder about is: How is it possible that these "prison-employeers" are able to go (at least a few of them) in a cell and maltreat (torture and abuse) someone

how has NO chance to protect himself. How cool is it to abuse a complete defenseless and need help from 3 or 4 colleagues? Will tey go tell his friends in the pub?

Do these people went home after work and say hello to their childrens and wife?

I will pray that they have the strongest faith, as in Paul's case. When he was in transit to Rome, and was bit on the hand by the viper. Paul just shook it off, because the spirit had said, he was going to Rome, and to Rome he went!

Hopefully these dear ones have as much if not more faith, then he showed.

The being in prison for undefined amount of days, months, years...decades ( ) seems to a habit hard to kick for Eritrean and Ethiopian societies.

It is really crazy how our brothers have had to suffer in those conditions. Hardly any Tigrinya language meeting seems to go by without the brothers mentioning the plight of those in 'biet mayserti', or prison. Latest I heard a brother mention this in his prayer was earlier today/yesterday (called in to a Tigrinya meeting on Saturday afternoon).

There are some unconfirmed reports/experiences how a couple of those at one time guarding our imprisoned brothers in Eritrea have since started studying/become Witnesses after themselves having fled to Europe from the East African dictatorship that Eritrea has become. I say 'unconfirmed' because so far I have not seen/read such experiences in our printed publications. ! Maybe due to the fact that the 'situation' is still ongoing.

Some Eritrean brothers and sisters have told me how apparently the current president/dictator of Eritrea, Isayas Afeworki, while acting as a leader of a guerrilla movement which wasfighting for Eritrean independence, told his supporters how basically resolute and brave Jehovah's Witnesses were [more on the problems faced by Witnesses, see yb92 on persecution under the Derg in Ethiopia]. Anything to motivate tne troops, I suppose. However this Pharaoh-like obstinate political leader has since shown his true identity. I wish we would still be asked to send letters to various heads of state...
