Calling all Cooks! What's your favorite kitchen gadget?

Recommended Posts

I LOVE watching cooking shows but don't consider myself a good cook because I basically don't enjoy it unless I'm totally in the mood. But I just pulled out my pampered Chef kitchen Spritzer that you can put any type of oil in and you pump the top and it sprays the oil out for grills and pans and even salads! I fill it with Olive Oil and save a bundle on Pam's Olive Oil Spray! How about you? What is in your kitchen you love using or would recommend to others?

I am the wrong person to ask because I LOVE kitchen gadgets as well as cooking.

My current favorite is my Kitchen Aid mixer because I've made so many delicious near bakery quality goodies for my congregation and hubby.

I love cooking!!!!  I can't begin to figure out which gadget is my favorite.  All my kitchen gadgets bring me so much joy, lol!!!!!

My husband though would really like it if I had less kitchen gadgets, lol.  My kitchen is pretty packed right now.

This is one though that I have and I do love it.  It's a nutrition center.  I can make juice, pasta, grind coffee and herbs, mince garlic, and it does some other stuff.  It's the Omega 8006 nutrition center juicer, and I use it alot and really love it. .

I also love my bread maker.  I also have two slower cookers that I use a ton of in the winter months, one large for meals, one small one for sauces or queso.  I also have a very nice cappuccino maker which is awesome.  Then our regular coffee maker, my coffee grinder. 3 blenders that I use for different things.  Of course there is also my food processor.  I don't know, I love all my stuff and I think I would be lost without them, they make my life so much easier.

Maybe not a kitchen "gadget" but, we could not survive without our Keurig! (Plus it's the only kitchen gadget I can operate!)

I've got one of those too! Best part is, my husband can figure out how to use it and he makes my coffee for me on weekends! Love the K-cup flavors too, drining coffee never gets boring now!

Ava, your kitchen must be huge! Have to have a lot of countertop space and cupboards for all of that! That nutrition center is pretty cool!

It's not as big as I would like.  There is a way to expand it and make it really huge and I have the plans drawn up. Sadly, the cost is just not going to be in the budget anytime soon.

It's a good kitchen though.  Maybe one day I can expand it to make it my dream kitchen!!!

I absolutely love my small tools too. I think my favorite big one is my slicer. I'll buy whole salami, ham, roast beef, turkey and bologna and slice them thin myself. (I can save 3-8 dollars a pound buying this way) I love my 2 bread makers even though I only use them for mixing and the first rising. I then take the bread out, knead, put in bread pans and let rise in a cooler with a heating pad on low as the oven heats up, works like a dream. Then I love to slice the fresh bread!

Yes I love the Keurig, and the soda stream (Those are mostly for Lew, I'm not much into soda and cut down on coffee)

I have the salad master collection so use the rolling blades for grating carrot, hashbrowns cabbage etc. (it is time for making sauerkraut and this cutter makes short work of it)  Then a french fry slicer, it has several blades so I can do different things.

I use a smoker for salmon and tuna and chicken. (have a whole salmon coming in a day or so) The chicken bones get smoked too which I then put into a huge stock pot and make about 32 pints of delicious thick chicken stock.

But having said all that I have to admit I love my knives. I have a very cheap but super duper sharpener and my knives stay sharp and it's a pleasure to use them.

I do like my mandolin slicer and the kitchen aid mixer. Guess I do get a great amount of use from the microwave. We have a gas stove and a "fancy" electric on, but I prefer gas.

Don't use the Ninja blender as much as we should ... but, I have a small stick blender that also has a small food processor attachment - this I use quite a bit.

I would say the smoker, but that is not a "kitchen" gadget since I use it outside (can't smoke in the house)

I got a set of knives from Sam's Club - they were inexpensive, but they work great.

Nespresso machine, hmmm, think I've sen this.

You know I have a question for all these gadgeteers- I need a coffee concentrate maker. I tend to be a warm person so I'll want a cold fancy coffee. Any suggestions? I can google it but if I can get a swift answer here It'd help my time (or lack of it)

I'm not one who needs the "name brand" item for me to believe that I bought something good. If it's made well, fits in my hand and I know it will last if I take care of it then it has great value to me.

I have a sharpening stone and rod but prefered to use the OLD red handled knife sharpener grandpa gave Lew. BUTTT then it was lost! I was so mad, I've used it since we were first married. Lew bought me an inexpensive one from the local country store

http://www.yelp.com/biz/jacks-country-store-ocean-park?utm_source=ask that works great.

  • 2 weeks later...

Definitely my kitchen aid stand mixer. Best anniversary gift ever. Next is my 14cup elite cuisinart food processor. Next on my list is a new blender (ninja). Mine is fatigued. A must have, that I don't have anymore (it broke) is an immersion blender.

But my all time favorite is my chef knife. I bring it with me everywhere I need to help. I can't work without it.
