Bad news.  Why have they done this?  Hopefully will come to their senses and bring him back for medical treatment.

The Office of Public Information for Jehovah's Witnesses said in a statement: "There is absolutely no indication, as far as we are aware, that their decision is in any way motivated by any religious convictions.  "Jehovah's Witnesses are encouraged to seek the best medical treatment for themselves and their children," it added.

Please guys,, don't listen to the papers. They tell 1/2 truths and omit all truth. Just know that these parents LOVE their child more than anything and are doing what they believe is best for him. The DRS DoNT. This is THEIR child and they are caring for him in the way they feel is right. Drs are short sighted And think they are GOD when it comes to health care. I watched the video on you tube and I could see big mistakes in his care in that 1 video. If I was his parent and he wasn't getting cared for properly I would go too!! Just pray for then to be strong to handle anything. My heart breaks for them

Yes, the media will only tell the portion of the story that makes the headline... truth is often irrelevant.  Need to hear all sides to the story before judging, and we definitely can't do that off the back of a newspaper article!

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof
is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Newspapers often do have a political bias, but if what you are saying is true then we shouldn't believe the various news articles promoting the international conventions because they are only telling half truths.  We can't just dismiss the media when they say something about us we don't like & then jump for joy when they say something favourable.

Hopefully the child gets the medical help he needs.

Ignoring the anti-JW slant of the article, the verifiable facts are pretty clear.

Regardless of parental instincts, children need food to survive, which he will not get when the feeding tube battery dies.

Regardless of one's opinion of any particular doctor, taking matters into your own hands to withhold medical care of a child is not obeying Caesars law, and only brings reproach on Jehovah's name (as is the case right now). Things would be different if they sought to have him legally released from the hospital, but as we learned in this weeks CBS, we are not to take legal matters like this into our own hands, regardless of how "right" we feel we are. Even in the case of court-ordered blood transfusions, which are clearly unscriptural, Witness parents are advised to completely cooperate with the courts and hospitals, not kidnap the child and go into hiding as this family allegedly has.

I won't comment further without seeing confirmed details of the case, but since we don't have sufficient information about either the family or the doctors, I feel it would be highly unwise to praise an action that, unless the police intervene, WILL lead to the death of a child, and will almost certainly lead to Jehovah's name dragged through the courts and international media in a murder trial.

One thing for sure is that if they were catholic the media wouldn't have drawn attention to their religion !Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2

I said this EXACT same thing to my husband! Because it's a "medical" situation, then our religion was brought into it! Now if the kid was molested then the Catholic's would of been brought into it. Hopefully the home congregation knows what is going on and can help. It must of been a very dire situation for them to do this without notifying hospital personal. No one likes to see Jehovah's name drug into this situation that is now 'worldwide" - it was on Yahoo's front page today.

You cannot kidnap your own child. And who said they Are withholding treatment?

I have to step away from this topic as it makes me mad. I've been where they are and how dare anyone say they are deliberately putting his life at risk. They love him. I've proved some doctors don't know squat, but they think they have full right to do whatever they wish because they think it's right. I know for a fact the parents should be given all pros and cons of medical care and THEY should decide. But doctors take the care of minors off the parents. Obey Caesars law??? This is satans world. Jehovah entrusts your child to

YOUR care. Not satans.

Ok.. Stepping away.. Far too close to home.

I have personally seen two cases of court-ordered blood transfusions. In both cases, the slave's directions were to obey Caesar and let the doctors give the blood, with specific instructions NOT to fight against the authorities by running away or "kidnapping" the child. (The information was presented in a local needs talk when some in the congregation suggested exactly that.)

The fact is that this kid is on a feeding tube, and that feeding tube will fail, sooner rather than later. So unless someone has mastered the skill of keeping children alive on prayer rather than food, he will begin starving in only a few short days.

Again, none of us have all the facts of the case, so let's please not give the public, possibly including those in the media, even more fuel for their "Witnesses would rather let a child starve than accept medical care" lies.

Note too the reaction of the branch. They didn't respond with praise of any sort, they distanced themselves from the situation, saying that medical treatment is acceptable and there is no apparent scriptural reason for this to occur.

So in following their lead, let's please pray for the welfare of the child instead of falling into comments that resemble something we would hear from the "faith-healers" of false religion

Didn't realize I was doing that either. Must be sleep-typing tonight - sorry.

By the way I thought the quotes from us were accurate and I was glad they were included in the article, sounds like even the congregation this brother and sister were from have no idea why they did what they did.

i agree that if this were a catholic or christendom child religion would not be mentioned.

but the reports ive heard so far have been fairly consilitory in their tone.

on a point of law they are not accused of or guilty of kidnap... this point was made on the bbc last night as was the fact that religious views may not have anything to do with why the parents have done this.

the parents have done nothing illegal and none of us know the full facts to judge why theyre doing what theyre doing.

i just hope the littlun gets the care/food he needs from wherever he needs it.

The parents have not done anything illegal by taking the child away.  And it has been estabished that the blood issue has not been a problem.  The child has already had several operations without problems.  If they want to find better treatment elsewhere, then why not tell the doctors.  Maybe they could have provided the correct medical provisions and help.

Saying that, you don't just take him without explaining why or where you are going. Listening to the BBC News this morning, they did not mention that they are Witnesses.  But what will happen if the boy dies, I don't know.  The story has gone international.

Officers said they now thought his family had "taken steps to be able to feed him".

Although the arrest warrant was "based around neglect", Mr Shead said this did not necessarily mean the parents would be charged with that offence.

"It purely gives us the power to arrest and then we will be able to speak to them," he said.
