Perhaps they thought he didn't have much time left and brought him home to die.

According to most reports he was recovering well, certainly not on his death bed.

Unfortunately, this situation is already bringing reproach on Jehovah's name, and will continue to do so for quite some time.

This report is a little older, but it gives a little more insight into how the branch is approaching this situation.

Guy Canonici, the president of the Jehovah's Witnesses in France, has told Sky News he has put over 1,000 Kingdom Halls (places of worship) on alert for the missing boy.
He said so far no one had come forward with any information.

This family is reportedly even refusing to cooperate with the organization, which undoubtedly has more information than any of us do, so we should be very careful in forming or voicing personal opinions of anyone involved in this situation.

(Proverbs 18:13) When anyone replies to a matter before he hears the facts, It is foolish and humiliating.

Doctors said Ashya only had four months left to live because of the aggressive nature of his cancer

The only source of that I've seen is an anonymous quote from "a friend", who was quoting "a doctor", as reported in a single tabloid that is known for outright lies and posting pornography on the sidebar of each page of its website (including your link).

All the properly cited sources I've seen, including social media posts by his family, suggest that there is a chance of recovery, albeit low, and none even attempt to place a time limit on his lifespan if he were to get prompt medical attention.

We are close to some in the same congregation as this family and who have been closely involved with caring for the family during this terrible time. No one knows exactly why the parents have taken the child or where. The statements from the police are a fair reflection of what is publiclly known as is the majority of the reporting from the BBC. Much of the newspaper reporting is sheer speculation and hearsay at best.

The family are described by those who really do know them as loving and caring. The parents, and of course their son, have been through a terrible situation and the medical situation is by no means clear cut.

Whatever your feelings about the sense of what they have done I don't think anyone can really imagine what they might be thinking and how we might act unless we have been in a very similar situation. Even then the medical details will be unique to this situation.

On that basis my view is that speculation and assumption about the ins and outs of this situation are, frankly speaking, unfair. I am just hoping there is some sense to their actions and that Ashya is not put through any more hardship than he would be were he still in hospital in Southampton.

I only read this in the British media..........and also BBC.....

Daily Mail is a British News Paper.....many Brother's are reading it......

I don't understand why people give The Daily Mail the time of day. It's a rag, with journalistic standards no better than the red tops.

I don't mean to offend anyone who reads it but it really is junk.

Just my opinion :-)

looks like the German newspaper "Bild"

anyway I am not reading any News Paper

only when I get the link online

have to say ....the write up was quite positive about us

and even the comments...

notice that they said the same as Brother Loesch at the convention,

that we are 20 million....

WHAT ARE THE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES VIEWS ON HEALTH?

The Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian denomination whose 20million global followers believe traditional Christian churches have deviated from the true teachings of the Bible.

They believe that the Bible is the word of God and consider its 66 books to be historically accurate.

Jehovah's Witnesses refuse blood transfusions on religious grounds but are open to other medical procedures.

The belief comes from a number of passages in the Bible, including Deuteronomy 12:23: 'Just be firmly resolved not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the flesh.'

Followers of the religion say the risks of avoiding blood transfusions are overplayed and point to studies which claim bloodless treatment are becoming increasingly safe.

Even in the case of court-ordered blood transfusions, which are clearly unscriptural, Witness parents are advised to completely cooperate with the courts and hospitals, not kidnap the child and go into hiding as this family allegedly has.

Is there a mention in any letter about this situation (not kidnapping the child) ?   I know the instructions urge to reasonableness, but is there anything even about this particular situation ?

" Indeed, what do you have that you did not receive ? "

The 1992 Kingdom Ministry (9/92 pp. 3-6) has extensive instructions regarding how to handle court-ordered blood transfusions. Throughout the article, it is repeatedly stated that we use legal grounds to present our defense, whether through the court or directly to the doctors, while regularly consulting with the Hospital Liaison Committee and, if necessary, the Society’s Legal Department. Nowhere is it even implied that anyone should take extreme measures to physically prevent the transfusion.

This is clearly about parents at the end of their tether with the health system and wanting the best care available. Blood and being Witnesses has nothing to do with it. Perhaps there are different ways of getting what they want. Perhaps others would do things differently. But until you are faced with the same circumstances you have no idea how you might react.
