Bubble Rap, not Bubble Head

Recommended Posts

Who knew?  Well it's that time of the year when some people winterize their homes.  I can't do to much and I have asked for help from brothers and sister's to come to my home and help winterize my windows.  I got the thick plastic, and wouldn't you know it, the seal tape stinks.  It's toxic and it making me sick!  When I was purchasing it, it didn't have the smell, it came wrapped.   I went on You Tube, and saw a couple of different video's with people insulating their windows.  Some with that plastic where you blow dry it (don't like that), others used calk, but then I saw this one with a lady who said use bubble rap.  Yeah, that's right, bubble rap.  And you don't have to buy expensive stinky seal tape.   Depending on how thick you want it, you can use painters tape or some other brand, but not that toxic stinky seal tape!   If you want to do a square in your window with bubble rap, you measure and cut it out, then spray your window panel with some water and the bubble rap just sticks to it.  My windows have no panes, so its a measured cut of bubble rap.  Tomorrow, if it's not raining, and am not burning (my legs), am going to go to Home Depot or Wal Mart to see if I can get some decent non stinky tape!  Scotch tape won't work!   I know there are professional friends in here, perhaps with the RBC, but this was a good idea.  Is there anyone in here who has used bubble rap for insulation before?

Lol, I read this the first time chuckling because of the rap instead of wrap. Perhaps you wanted rapping bubbles as in hip-hop windows protection... Hehe.

In all seriousness, I've never heard of using bubble wrap. Doesn't the smell of the tape dissipate within hours of installation though?

Thanks for laughing out loud!!  I caught my mistake, I got so excited when I saw this video on You Tube about the bubble wrap, who knew?  It got me hooked.  I went out this morning to Office Depot, Wal Mart has the 1/2, I wanted 24 inches and 25 feet worth.  That will cover 4 of my windows.   I had to purchase, since I don't do holidays and such, someone's always got bubble wrap.  I tried it on my one window pane, and it's still there.  Am very impressed by this simple way of insulating my home!   I saw someone put up a picture in here, it is so EASY!  Am still laughing at myself for that "Rap"!  Well, am going to "Wrap" it up in here, thanks again you all!!!
