If you’re “ugly”

Recommended Posts

So we were out with some friends on Saturday night; at the end of dinner one the brothers busted out pictures of when he was 14 and 16 years old...to show that he wasn't always bald and out of shape (he did this because 2 or 3 nights before, after the Service/School meeting we went to their home and were poking fun of him over coffee)

Not wanting to be left behind I showed him a picture I had on my phone when I was 22 - everybody started saying to stop showing my brother's picture and to show them a “real picture” of myself at that age.

I had to wait for my wife to come back from the restroom to "confirm" my identity (Shameful credibility I have - Yoda

Now this leads the conversation to talk about paradise, perfection and how we will revert to our younger selves. I then pointed out that I would be unrecognizable because of my dark and dashing good looks as I would revert to what I looked like in the picture.

I know, I know...but it’s the truth – but never fear my trusty wife put me in check when she burst my bubble as she told everyone that she conveys to my daughter the importance of spiritual beauty instead of looks because of what happened to me  and goes on to deliver the final blow by saying,

I quote “It was a LIE, A LIE!”

Anyways – we all had a good laugh at my expense, but I asked everyone at the table, which I will now ask all of you:

In paradise:

If you’re “ugly” will you stay “ugly”? And…

Will we have the ability to change our physical attributes once we reach perfection as the WT study last week mentioned in the last couple of paragraphs (e.g.: short to tall – big nose to small nose – brown to blonde hair – brown to green/blue eyes - ETC...)?

There are really ugly animals as well as strikingly beautiful ones. Some have defects as do humans, so if it's the defects causing the uglyness then more than unlikely they will be corrected when we are perfected, right?

And if so, there will not be ugly humans,I would think. After all we are born and grow up imperfect. So how could we say how we will look when we have been made perfect, while we are yet imperfect?

It will be interesting to see though! Many celebrities have make up on,or get alterations done to themselves to achieve that perfect look. But that's different from being made perfect by Jehovah's hands. But we shall see, I don't care if I am ugly in the new world as long as I am there. Better to be ugly there than in this awful world, where its a concern of many.

Proverbs 27:11- Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, So that I can make a reply to him that taunts me.

I'm thinking that since the Bible mentions different times that say, for instance, Moses, Sarah, and David, were "beautiful" in appearance, that it's a realistic possibility. :ecstatic:

Even babies react to attractive people differently than they do to, ahem..., less attractive people. (Don't blame me, blame the babies)! :whistling: So yeah, I'm all for looking good in the new system! Is that wrong? Don't see why it would be. Why shouldn't we at least get to look the best we are genetically capable of looking? And if we're perfect, why wouldn't we be attractive?

Meanwhile.... :taz: I just have to deal with it!

The Bible also mentions ugly people it just does it in a dignified manner....Example Leah, Rachel's sister was ugly:

But the eyes of Le′ah had no luster, whereas Rachel had become a very attractive and beautiful woman

We have to remember for those whom Jehovah resurrects he will give them a body he chooses (I am sure no ugly people will be re-created) the rest of us if we survive will just have to live with what we are. :uhhuh:  Plus with hard work and no fast food t.here will be no over weight people soon after Armageddon which will help most with there appearance and then their is the de-aging process so <_< .... just my 2 Cents.

My 2 cents. Our minds are imperfect our bodies are imperfect. In paradise we will return to perfection. Jehovah doesn't make mistakes, so whatever is "good" in his eyes will be good for all

Is. 41:10 " I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness. "

There are definite imperfections we are either born with or develop that can cause us to look less than attractive (i.e. - the elephant man) that I'm sure will be done away with. I think for the most part, there will still be variety but within certain perimeters as set by Jehovah. But I think that the biggest thing that will change will be mostly our perception of what is beautiful and what is ugly - the world has shaped that for us since we were young - in the new world, Jehovah will shape our perceptions.

Think about definition of PERFECT .... And UGLY ...

They are not compatible .. Jehovah can correct our physical appearance in the New World .... He himself said I am making all things NEW !

I know a sister, she is in her 60's. Very nice sister, always smiling and giving her best for Jehovah. She is a widow and... just got old... how can I say, she has "shrunk" a little... she looks like a not-so-evil witch from a Disney movie.

But this sister, she always have, in her wallet, a picture of herself when she was in her 20's... and just... wooooaaaahhh... there is no word... she was s-p-l-e-n-d-i-d.

She is waiting for the time when she will become like this again.

That's also part of our hope. Forever young and healthy.

You were so attiment about Jehovah correcting our physical appearance in the new world, I just couldn't help myself and had to ask! LOL I do feel that Jehovah meant "man" to have certain attributes with variety's (like a strong jawline, taller than a woman, broad shoulders, more muscles all over, powerful legs etc.) and he also made women to have certain attributes (long shiny hair, curvy features, less muscular, generally everything is rounder and softer and smaller) and I think Jehovah will "tweak" us all within those original perimeters.

Of course ! you'll be round and beautiful !

Hypothetically this will introduce new saying for single brothers in the New World..  is she R&B sister ? (round + beautiful)   :lol1:

Wait a minute Danny Boy, I have the most big beautiful dreamy eyes and would not want to change them or anything else about me...well okay, okay I would want perfectly flat abs the way Eve probably had. And my hair, so maybe I would want it down to my rear instead of my back. And by the why I happen to be attracted to ugly men who are very masculine in nature. And most ugly women are very shapely. So everyone is happy. Really I don't think we want to change how we look we all just want to be perfect with our looks and that won't come until the New World. So in the meantime we develop and work on beautiful happy personalities.

I don't know...but I've head it said:

"Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone".

"I've also heard that beauty is in the eyes of the BEER-HOLDER " lol

Seriously....I say some will be prettier than others but no one will be "ugly". I don't think Jehovah would allow it in paradise. A couple of small adjustments perfection will take care of that should be all it takes. No major changes, but I think we'll be amazed what a few minor changes will do. :encourage:

To actually be beautiful - just another reason Jehovah gives us to endure this UGLY system of things. That reminds me - Satan is no doubt a beautiful spirit creature but how many of us actually think of the word "beautiful" when we think about Satan? Not even wordly people think of him as beautiful and they don't know the full extent of his ugliness like we do! Satan will definitely stay UGLY till the day he dies.
