A PROVOCATIVE billboard that is likely to ruffle the feathers of religious Australians has been erected on one of our busiest motorways.

A group of nonbelievers, Sydney Atheists, put up the giant sign on Sydney’s M4 motorway on Wednesday. It reads: “Have you escaped religion? We have!”

The organisation’s president, Steve Marton, told news.com.au the billboard wasn’t designed to offend, but to provoke thought.

He said Sydney Atheists was largely made up of people who had “suffered” under organised religion and included members who had “escaped” the Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Mormon and Jewish faiths.

The group believes that all religions are false belief systems that deny the realities of the universe and humanity’s place on Earth.

“This world suffers so much at the hands of religion; it doesn’t make any sense to believe these stories. It’s just fantasy,” Mr Marton said.

Like Atheistism is a solution to their problem? BTG and Atheists has two things in common. They don't worship Jehovah and they have killed billions of people too.

This brings us back to our WT study a couple of weeks ago? People think all religions lead to God or all religion is same in this case. Personally, religion has portrayed a terrible image of Jehovah, can people be blamed from feeling alienated? A God who burn people, source of death and take loved ones away, cruel for causing nature catastrophe and you name it. How can that be the loving God?

This is why as Witnesses we ought to speak up so people know who really Jehovah is...Even atheists and agnostics need the comfort and hope and answers to big questions in life! Which make me feel like Jeremiah 20:9 because people need to hear about Jehovah! No matter where!

On the one hand...I feel for people who once believed and loved God, but, "turned" atheists because of a horrible religious experience.  But, on the other hand, i  feel like...you wouldn't give up eating, claiming something was wrong with all food...because, you had a bad meal at one resturant. You'd just avoid that resturant....  and move on to the next.  :drink:

Psalms 51:6 "In the secret self...may you cause me to know sheer wisdom"

Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Mussolini, Kim Jong Il, and Jeffery Dahmer escaped religion. How many people suffered because of them?

People suffer under atheism as much as much as they suffer because of false religion: that's man's inhumanity to man.

How wonderful will it be when Jehovah brings an end to false religion and inhumanity! :)

Atheism is just another form of belief system in my opinion. And one that has as much blood on their hands as any false religion.

Atheism is inextricably linked to Darwinism. Darwinism is a very awkward set of ethics and has been used to support ideals such as eugenics, racism and even national socialism.

There is an expression called Social Darwinism. It is the belief that someone is allowed to basically bend all the rules and ignore any code of morals in order to achieve a sovereign position in society, whether this is in career, in politics or what have you. Meaning the people at the top got there because they are better than you. They are smarter than you, stronger, and you're just pathetic so eat their dust and accept that they have a right to live the high life on your expense, you dirty little pawn!

Atheism is also linked to a worship of mother nature. You simply can't escape that fact. Ever watch a nature documentary and wonder why they personify nature in such a fashion? In Germany you can't watch such a documentary film without constantly hearing stuff like "Mother nature thought of a clever way for this species to....." or "due to this, evolution found a clever way for this species to...." But if evolution and nature are by-products of mere happenstance, why personify them in such a way to give them the power of thought, planning and development, characteristics that define an intelligence?

Furthermore, atheism is also restricted to a merely three-dimensional and matter-based philosophy. If you speak to an atheist they often question supposedly ridiculous ideas such as an all-powerful being with no beginning. Yet, this type of thinking is based on a concept of time and space that our universe is restricted to. When you go beyond matter (which is automatically linked to time) and enter the quantum universe, where you don't have mass and therefore no concept of time, they are stumped.

So yeah, they escaped false religion and found a new one that has just as few answers to life's questions. Congratulations on that.

I had few conversations with them at the doors and I have touched on above points as well ... yes they get STUMPED.

But it's interesting to see how religion becomes a "target"

If they say there is no God, they are trying to convince themseles of that, so they don't have to bend to the will of a higher power. But they cannot deny the truths found in the Bible, about human nature, the laws that any society writes, the benefits brought by following those truths. They do teach us to benefit ourselves, and the bonus is that it benefits all mankind.

Just think, (I've had people say this), "if everyone practiced what they preach, the world wouldn't be such a mess." People in general are basically good. It is their envireoment and the culture they are raised in, that harms their inner person.

We were made in Jehovah's image, and I sometimes wonder if He cries about the crimes people practice on each other.

If there was no Jehovah, then up to this point their claim rings true.  And yet, we have searched further than just coming to the realisation that religion is bad.  The song 'Imagine', by John Lennon, resonated with so many people who could see this.  But that still leaves us with facing the future.  What future?  They are kidding themselves that humans can ever have any future here on earth.  And so they make preparations to leave earth and look for ways to colonise other planets, or cryogenically freeze themselves so in the "future" they can be reconstituted into a human again.  Or the future will include hybrids of humans and AI robots. Etc, etc.

Of course, that's not "just fantasy" either.....

Thanks to Jehovah for giving us this precious insight.  We can only try to help as many others as we can who still are searching for something better.

I've asked myself the same question. And seeing that Jesus wept about certain things and he was totally perfect, so his tears were not from any emotional weakness... but he was human and we obviously have that mechanism. It does make you wonder if Jehovah has something similar that our weeping is a reflection of.

Not sure if this makes sense: crying or weeping is the physical result of distress or deep pain we feel inside. Emotions often trigger something physical: like heart rate up when nervous, or sweating when nervous and or anxious, butterflies in the stomach when excited or happy or in love, a smile when feeling good etc... OK: may be not the best examples but you know where I come from! Anyways, Jehovah does not have a body like us or anything physical but he does have emotions. So we know he definitely hurts and it takes a great deal of self control from his part not to intervene now (lesson in the draw close book we had, sorry forgot what page). So whatever emotions trigger our crying: empathy, hurt he feels them too but it does not transfers into something physical ... Could that make sense at all?

You touch on some very good points brother that Neo-Atheists and their inherent 'superiority complex' often conviniently choose to ignore. As discussion and debate especially with acolytes/proselytes of the Dawkins variety, usually tend to lead to circular and the most utterly frutiless discussion.

As you've rightly said Atheism is a very nihilistic set of ideals that is based entirely on whimsical and arbitary definitions defined by themself, their own nebulous moral superiority or their own high priests (Insert Richard Dawkins here...) who have self annointed themselves as the passive aggresive, messianic, but benevolent saviours of humanity.

I once metioned the below to an Atheist in regards to the Big Bang and Evolution:-

"Chance and intelligence are diametrically opposed. Chance indicates a lack of order. But the Universe and every life form on this planet has order from an intergalactic to a microscopic scale. Order indicates intelligent design. Non-intelligence cannot produce intelligence.

The Atheists lauds and praises his intelligence and yet his intelligence is 'apparently' the result of a chaotic explosion that happened by chance out of nothing that produced order. Logically its ridiculous. Practically it's impossible. But the Atheist has no problem believing it. The irony...."

Only in a world led by Satan would individuals who claim to possess more enlightenment & intellgience than the rest of humanity (but clearly no wisdom) would such an ideology as Atheism make sense.

David wrote in Psalms 14:1 "The senseless one has said in his heart: “There is no Jehovah." See even the Bible calls these ones stupid. :)
