I think they are all great, and especially fitting for their particular times in history... However, I agree with you Glenn, Br. Rutherford was a real energizer, debater, and defender of the Truth... he would take on anyone without hesitation!  I've heard some of his recordings used in service back in the day, for example... "Religion is a Snare and a Racket!" ...Wow!

I must add, that Br. Knorr was the great organizer... such growth during those years!

From the 1975 Yearbook, Proclaimers book and the recent 2 part videos of our organization - I really appreciate Bro Nathan H. Knorr. During WW2 time how the (with Jehovah's direction) neutrality issue was handles, the Un was prophesied to come back, the spearheading of the preaching work, Gilead, tms, nwt and other developments came. All amist a world after WW2, all the regional world conflicts, cold war and others-really appeal to me. Light was about to get real bright as it is now. ☺

"there was Jehovah’s word for him, and it went on to say to him: “What is your business here, E·lijah?" To this (Elijah) he said: “I have been absolutely jealous for Jehovah the God of armies"- 1 Kings 19:9, 10 Reference Bible

A favorite? Voting?

Too much like judging to me.

I am not in position to judge the anointed.

They lived at different times but each in his time did "just so."

AH173's comment above is good and similar comments about the others might be appreciated.

But to pick a favorite? Shook hands with Knorr once, I was little, he was tall. That day he was my favorite.

I am not sying I am Superman, I am only saying that nobody has ever seen Superman  and me in a room together.

I really like Brother John's comment:

"I think they are all great, and especially fitting for their particular times in history"

Each were perfect choices for that specific time/era. :)

Thanks Brother Jerry for posting the talk by Brother Rutherford. :)

Before listening to this talk, I had always thought that

"Religion is a Snare and a Racket"

was just a short saying that Rutherford used to grab people's attention.

But as this is the "Theme" of his talk,

he uses several scriptures, likely from the KJV, that used the word "snare"

when involving false religion.

Then he talks about the scheming by churches that greedily take the people's money

and that this is the worst kind of "Racket" - a term used more back in his time which

people readily understood and definitely grabbed their attention.

So he had a powerful Theme and he did a real good job of using that Theme throughout his talk!

And he didn't even have training from the "Theocratic Ministry School" or the "Benefits Book"! :)

LOL.. Brother Knorr was awesome. I heard before he died, he was more thankful for the friends that help him through the years/

It is amazing how Jehovah used individuals at the right time. Very good points Ashley.

(Mark 9:33-37) And they came into Ca·perʹna·um. Now when he was inside the house, he put the question to them: “What were you arguing about on the road?” They kept silent, for on the road they had been arguing among themselves about who is greater. So he sat down and called the Twelve and said to them: “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and minister of all.” Then he took a young child and stood him in their midst; and putting his arms around him, he said to them: “Whoever receives one of such young children on the basis of my name receives me also; and whoever receives me receives not me only but also Him who sent me.”

My parents came into the Truth just before Bro. Rutherford died. I remember how upset they were. They hadn't been with the Witnesses long enough to realize that it didn't depend on a certain person. But I have to think about all the things that Bro Knorr instituted, Gilead school, Theocratic Ministry School and many others that brought us so much into the present organization. He was a tireless worker for Jehovah, travelled all over the world getting the org. going and expanding the preaching work. He set up the schools that helped us to be Ministers not having to rely on the testimony card or a phonograph record to preach the good news. Each one has had a part in making us what we are today but I have to say, I have a very soft spot for Nathan Knorr. He also married a sister that was from our Cong. in Colo. so we felt like he was part of our family!!
