NEW YORK (AP) - The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has expanded its definition of marriage to include a "commitment between two people," recognizing gay marriage as Christian in the church constitution after decades of debate over same-sex relationships.

The redefinition was endorsed last year by the church General Assembly, or top legislative body, but required approval from a majority of the Louisville, Kentucky-based denomination's 171 regional districts, or presbyteries. The critical 86th "yes" vote came Tuesday night from the Presbytery of the Palisades in New Jersey.

"So many families headed by LGBTQ couples have been waiting for decades to enter this space created for their families within their church communities," said the Rev. Robin White, a leader of More Light Presbyterians, which advocates for gay acceptance.

After all regional bodies finish voting and top Presbyterian leaders officially accept the results, the change will take effect June 21. The denomination has nearly 1.8 million members and about 10,000 congregations and is now the largest Protestant group to authorize gay weddings churchwide.

They do Believe in this point. Huh.

I was talking to this guy yesterday. I have posted a subject in the Ministry topic.

He said they don't do this practice. But this is exactly why my Dad who was a member in his early days left. Because it wasn't a teaching in the bible. But Men are condemend for such practises,

"It's a known fact that eighty decibels of rushing water is one of the most pleasing sounds known to mankind. On other hand, ten and a half days at sea is enough water for anybody."

Gabe, I know a brother accidentally ran into a gay parade in NY city and one of the groups was backing them up was the Presbyterian Church.

"Tickling their ears"!  Shows you that these supposedly religious leaders will bow to pressure and go ahead and tickle the ears of the prospective members ... so they can make more money from the contributions ... they do not care what the Bible says (therefore, they do not care what Jehovah says).

  • 5 weeks later...

That "narrow gate and cramped road" is ignored by those in Babylon the Great!...And yes, greed motivates false religion to be more liberal and excepting of things and practices that Jehovah disapproves if.

It does not surprise me that sectors of Christendom are more lenient and tolerant of ungodly same-sex marriage....For so long the "Great Harlot" has blurred, misinterpreted, mistranslated, or twisted God's Word. She, the Harlot has misrepresented Jehovah God and His Son Jesus Christ and now her adverse judgment is near! The Harlot's prostitution with the world and her political entities is near. (Revelation chapter 18).

Good riddens to her!
