Recently I watched a film with the above title: "Amen." (Note the full stop.)

It is the story of a protestant chemist working in pest control and vermin control in Germany in the late 1930's. His niece is in a mental hospital and dies, but he notices that many others die too, and one family receives 2 different death certificates for their relative, each giving a different cause of death.

They find out that the Nazis are committing euthanasia, and he helps to organize a public outcry and protest and has the practice stopped.

Later he supplies Zyklon B canisters to Poland for "pest control", but finds that it is for the extermination camps.

His crisis of conscience compels him to join the SS to try to do his best to stop this, and also enlists help from a priest to try to get the pope to initiate a public outcry against the destruction of the Jews.

It is based on a true story, and the report of this man constituted main evidence of the holocaust.

The film is quite chilling, but not graphic in any way. It is very moving.

Highly recommended viewing.
