What is wrong with this painting?

Recommended Posts

One day, in my high school art class, our teacher, Mr. Giovanelli, held up a print of "The Creation of Adam"*.

 * The Creation of Adam is a fresco painting by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling, painted circa 1511–1512. It illustrates the Biblical creation narrative from the Book of Genesis in which God breathes life into Adam, the first man.

(Fig leaf supplied by me for modesty's sake :D )

Mr. G pointed to the print and asked, "What is wrong with this painting?"

After five or ten minutes of our incorrect guessing, he finally said, "Adam has a belly button in this painting.  Adam would never have had a belly button, because belly buttons come from umbilical cords and Adam never had an umbilical cord."

Mr. G was a real deep thinker, and an extremely talented artist.   He's just one of the many people that I can't wait to see again,  when they're resurrected in the paradise earth.

Opinions are like belly buttons.

Everybody's got one.

Well, except for Adam.  :D

Wow!  Thanks for the link!  Pretty interesting, and entertaining, posts!

I had never been able to access that part of this message board before.

Guess my limited access is a little less limited now. :shrugs:

Still can't participate in threads in real time, though.

There can be up to a ten hour time delay from when I join the discussion

and when my posts finally appear.

Three of my posts either were never approved, or vanished into cyberspace,

because they have never shown up, at all.

Maybe they are trapped in the board's Bermuda Triangle. :shifty:  :D

You have access to all forums except the "Comfort and support forum" and this is temporary. The topic I posted the link to is in the "Deep research" forum that you have access to. Also, if any of your post seemed to have "vanished into cyberspace" they were most likely posted in the wrong forum and were moved by a moderator to the correct one, leaving a forwarding link behind. With the number of moderators we have as well as the locations they live in, the board is being covered 24/7, with few exceptions such as meeting times, etc. So I seriously doubt your posts have waited up to "ten hours" for approval. Maybe you just need to refresh your browser page once in a while or more often. :)

You might also try using the "search" function while in the main index page, using key words to try and locate a topic before starting a new topic. Most everything has been covered at one time or another. But, that doesn't mean you can't start a new topic on the same subject if you want to. Just be prepared for members to post links to the older topic.

Have fun!  :)
