In a landmark 5-4 opinion, the Supreme Court ruled Friday that states cannot ban same-sex marriage, handing gay rights advocates their biggest victory yet.

I'd like to think that this makes it easier for Jesus to separate the sheep from the goats but then I remember that homosexuals need the truth and can change their lives too.

Just heard on news that Justice Scalia in his dissent is concerned that ones of faith who do not support gay marriage will be viewed as bigots and not supporters of the US Constitution.

Wow.

There is a very popular song called "Take Me to Church" look up the lyrics and reason he wrote the song, very interesting.

I know that song.  From what I read the writer/singer was raised Catholic and left the religion over their stand on homosexual marriage.  Now he hates all religion.

Today's ruling is an interesting development.  It will be interesting to see ine coming days and months, how this affects ones of faith who do not support gay marriage

Bring it! I think its exciting. The whole world is Soddon & Gomorrah! Is it piling clear up to the heavens yet? Now maybe they will start attacking "religious biggots".

I haven't been watching the news but I can just imagine all the jumping around, rainbow flag waving, and hollering and hooting, and parading, and celebrating! yippee!

I hope not!  :)

The first sign we want to see is the cry of Peace & Security, I don't think attacking religious bigots is part of that sign.  :D

I was not surprised by this. The Devil knows his time is short and he has been working hard to deface Jehovah's institute of marriage. He has done this since the beginning. No doubt this highlights just how close we really are to the end of this system. Everything is changing so fast. We must keep on the watch!

I think this ruling just continues to show a changing tide between the government and religion.  It's just another thing that the US Government is doing by telling ones of religious faith that they are wrong.  And that is what Justice Scalia said, if you don't support gay marriage, you will be viewed as a bigot.

Watching President Obama right now.  On one hand, he says opponents of gay marriage have deeply held views which should be respected, but yet today's ruling shows changing attitudes in the country and we have made our union a little more perfect today and that love is love.

Churches throughout the country are concerned now about their tax exempt status such as religious universities who offer housing to married couples.  If they refuse to offer housing to gay couples, what will be the implications for them?

Like I said, this will be interesting over the coming days and weeks and months.

Maybe it will be a cry of peace and security for the people, not the religious organizations.. and then babylon will fall. also remember i think ... it's like they cry peace... but there really is no peace. They just think there is... of course they are all blind anyway.  ----- this is me rambling-----

Peace...... Love...... &....... Paradise......

The cry of Peace & Security may be when everyone reaches a state of tolerance that they don't care anymore. You have a point.

The whole world will be like a hippie commune...

Peace dude.

Just saw one supporter who said

"The US is a country one nation under god with liberty and justice for everybody and it's time for all to come together in unity while we move forward as a country"

There will be a lot of pushing and shoving until a non-religious organization can step in to control it.

Oh wait...that would be the UN... :)

I've said in the past on other posts, that I feel it totally possible that this becomes the issues for Jehovah's people. It's entirely possible that this issue is seen as a WORLDWIDE right and the UN abolish religion because it's religion that stands in the way of total worldwide acceptance. The world will then pat itself on the back and think it has solved a major issue. Jehovah's people will continue to be the only ones who apply Bible principles and therefore, will not allow same sex marriage or homosexuality amongst their thrones. The masses become outraged at Jehovah's people because of our stand. Non-Witnesses will have to make a choice of whether or not to stand by Bible principles or not (insert the separating of the sheep and the goats here).

Totally logical to me! Of course, I'm speculating, but it is one of the possible out workings!

It seems possible that this could be part of it but don't forget that the religious institutions willingly give power to the UN and may join in the cry of peace and security, so I'm not sure how these confrontations between BTG and the UN get worked out but if they come to an agreement over these issues then could it be part of the cry of peace and security?

It is just a continued theme we are seeing, more and more are turning from religion.  I was reading a blog post where so many people were commenting about "christian fanatics".  The more and more we see of things like this, the more and more people turning against religion in general and looking at religious people as the ones who are wrong or fanatics or odd or strange, etc.

That all fits. If the unrest gets bad enough for the political powers and religious organizations to turn to the UN to get help to settle things. Once there is a compromise, the political powers and religious organizations can jointly declare Peace & Security. Then the UN turns on BTG and most people will say they don't care, religion just created the problems in the first place. We see that attitude developing now.

What is interesting is I was watching the news a little while ago and they were speaking to someone who helped with the case getting to the Supreme Court and this person said something interesting.  She said "our fight is just starting.  We now have to work on getting religious institutions to accept this law and not deny services like baking a cake for a gay wedding or performing a gay wedding in their church.  This ruling is wonderful, but it's just the beginning, much more work is needed"

So right now, the laws still protect religious freedom, but yet, how long before that is challenged?  I saw some comments where ones were saying "next, down with organized religion"  "take away tax exempt status from the churches"

Definitely interesting turn of events.

Ah well at least we still have good ole' gay bashing rampant in Russia and Eastern Europe in general, ISIS throwing homosexuals off buildings and the Muslim world in general ready to stone/behead anyone thought to be gay.

Before anyone throws a wobbler at me I am not saying anything against Biblical standards, just think that the migration of the West towards the general acceptance of homosexuality is a product of the general move towards human rights, laws that, incidentally, help us have the freedoms to preach and teach that we enjoy.  Why would we expect the world's laws in countries like the US, UK, France, Ireland etc. to be limited to hetrosexuals?  It's inevitable that one will follow the other.  Immorality of one sort or another has been rampant for years and the marriage beds of countless hetro-sexuals have been defiled through adultery to expose the world's (including many so called Christians) lack of respect for the tenets of Biblical law over and over and over again.  The fact that 100 years ago much of the "Christian" world had wide stance against homosexuality did not negate their lack of adherence to other moral teachings or make them any more acceptable to Jehovah.

I don't really care if homosexuals are allowed to marry.  Legality in the eyes of the law means nothing as far as comparison to the Bible is concerned.  Smoking is legal but it does not change anything about the the reasons we reject it or mean smoking is any more or less acceptable to Jehovah.  On balance, I would rather live somewhere that means I can go about my business without undue fear of violence, imprisonment or even death.  If that means that homosexuals get the same basic freedoms along with some that perhaps we don't agree with then I don't think it's actually a bad thing compared with the alternatives.  It makes no difference to the acceptability of their behaviour.

Frankly I find it FAR more offensive when a "brother" manipulates another brother's wife, engineers a divorce, get's disfellowshipped then comes back in a few months or year as if nothing has happened.  That really does twist my melon.
