This article reminded me of a comment my eye doctor made a few months ago. He said, it used to be that men his and my husband's age would have already been dead from a heart attack or something similar, but now they are living long enough to die from cancer. (both have cancer).

The mess I'm in I suffering longer. On the good side, I can get high on my pain bills and chocolate longer. I hope to God I get stronger medicine soon.

Don't worry "partaking" of chocolate will continue in a new world LOL

Man was created as an intelligent creature with the desire to explore and understand :)

Who wants to live longer but be sicker for longer? Is that really "progress"?

Bring on the new world!

Sometimes they confuse life expectancy with average lifespan.

I have done genealogy for years. Some family lines I have traced back to the 1500's.

Life expectancy has not changed in the last 500 years. My GGRANDFATHER, born in 1788, was working in a coal mine in Dahlonega GA at the age of 90.

My GGGGRANDPARENTS, Thomas Fields, born in 1800, and Susannah Humphrey, born in 1803, lived to very old age. Thomas died in 1889 at the age of 89, and his wife, Susannah, died in 1893 at the age of 90. I could give you many examples. These people had high LIFE EXPECTANCY.

Average life span is different. A lot of women died in childbirth and many children either died at childbirth or shortly after. These deaths were caused by poor hygiene or lack of medical knowledge. Doctors would perform an autopsy in one room and go into another room to deliver a child without even washing their hands. This brought down the AVERAGE LIFE SPAN.

However, even if people are not actually living longer today, it is true that many of them today are sicker than in the past.
