The Minister's Sermon

Recommended Posts

This joke has been passed down in my family and I'm not sure where it's originated from. I'm a bit sketchy with the exact wording as it was hard to read my grandmother's writing but here goes. It will require you to look up the bible but that's half the joke so I'm not going to quote them as it wouldn't be as funny.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has heard of this before as I'm sure its been around a while.

Ok here goes...

The minister's sermon:

Introduction - Mark 7:16 (KJV)

Body of the talk - Mark 9:44

Conclusion - Acts 19:41

Congregation reaction - Acts 28:24

Results of it all - Acts 19:32

Minister's visit - Rev 3:20

Householder returned his card at church the next Sunday with this added notation - Gen 3:10

For some reason I don't get the last part of it (Gen. 3:10). But it's interesting that you got this from your grandmother - even as far back as that, the clergy had a reputation of being essentially useless.

Don't live for the moment - live for the future! :D

If you read the first 2 scriptures in the NWT, then the minister said nothing.  Is that part of the joke, or I am making my own one up?

Yes that's part of the joke. Use the King James Version for the Intro. It's easy with the JW app.

The minister visits the church member at his house and then he writes the note on the card the minister leaves. The note says what is written at Gen 3:10 does that make more sense now? Like I said it's sketchy
