I don't believe the Soviet Union ever really fell. I think it just went into a sort of state of hibernation.

I am not at all surprised the old KGB dinosaur Putin, with his strong links to the Russian Orthodox church, is so actively working against Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, now that any scrutiny concerning Russian human rights interests is no longer of any importance in Russia, since the country has already been marginalized about as far as it can be.

We can only pray that our brothers will stay strong despite all oppression. Somehow, I don't see Russia opening up to freedom of religion anytime soon.

It was interesting to note from this independent investigative website that one of the reasons they could see to enforce the 'extremist' rulings on these innocent people and seize Kingdom Halls (and the land they are on) by some local authorities in certain areas was because they wanted to offer the nicely prepared land to developers. Our Worldwide funds and voluntary work and that of the local brothers and sisters in that area, had gone to buying; clearing and supplying utilities to that land and then building Halls on it when we were legalized in that area. Then 5 years later they are reported as taking advantage of these laws to seize useful assets for themselves and possibly business croneys.

If we feel angry about this - then we know our heavenly Father will be too.We pray for them and about their plight. In other cases, I hope it shows up the Unchristian behaviour of various different churches who have petitioned against Witnesses and supported the property seizures in these ex-Soviet areas and backed the ridiculous 'extremist' rulings and right-hearted people there see it as a good Witness for us and against those organisations.

This reminds me of the injustice meted out on certain types of people in South Africa when the Apartheid Laws were being enforced. Authorities in some areas would let families buy land, wait until they had cleared it, paid for utilities to the land, built their home on it and cultivated the land and then seize it off them - because the new laws let them do it.
