I have been thinking of using a Tablet for everything at the meetings, even personal study.

Just wondering if anyone here currently uses this method?  Is it really more beneficial?

I also seen an older couple at our recent convention using one each to record their notes!  I hate my handwritting so that would be amazing!

Anyways, just looking for input, advantages/disadvantages, etc.

I have a nexus 10. I use it for the book study and WT study to have them in french (instead of asking a printed version).

I use it to take quick notes for some point sometimes too.

And I use it on stage to do my speeches sometimes (type it on computer, and sync on my tablet by google drive).

That's nice.

no I do not... about 20 are used in our cong yet never from the platform... personally I like taking notes on speaker's delivery and brothers' comments and enjoy flipping to scriptures in a printed Bible with pages...

also do not care for the glare they give off toward others... I chang where I sit to keep avoiding them in the KH... in the conventions if you sit up top, tablet use on the floor seats can become quite bothersome while you're trying to concentrate on the speaker's delivery... I'm sure the friends do not realize this yet the flashes of light from the glass is distracting

sorry, it is not my intention to be negative, just being honest   :peace:

I sometimes use tablets to get through the meeting, especially if I have a headache, I will use aspirin tablets ..... :?

Oh, that's not the kind of tablets you were talking about :shrugs:

I do not have a tablet to use ... however, when I am operating the sound console, I use the Watchtower Library on CD to look up the scriptures and to follow along in the Jeremiah book (or whatever book we are using if it is on the DC). I have been doing this since long before tablets began to be used.

We do have several in our Hall the use tablets during the meetings.

BTW ... we have a computer at the console because we use it for the music and to record the meetings in mp3

I use it at all the meetings.. Still prefer using the bible with all my notes and crosss references...

I use it in the service alot.. Especially foreign languages... I show them a scripture and article in their own language..

I just preload the common languages in our area as a PDF .. And then direct them to jw.org at the end of the call..

Today I had a Punjabi and a Thai call .. Works very well..

What do you record the convention  with?

I have an FM to MP3 recorded. The batteries last an entire 3 day convention and I get it on a mini SD card.

Until mine died recently. I was using my Note for everything. I will get another.  But I found this device handy as all the study material is on my Note. I am seldom home. So whilst waiting to pick up the kids I do my study.

I also am very forgetful so I as Everything like the reasoning book app. & my Bible is also on my note..I use the voicerecorder to record the meetings as I use to like to take notes. My kids still need to be taken care of so I can catch up later.

I don't use because I don't have one. But I had and didn't use it either... I would be the only one using it and didn't want that...

Anyway I think that we should use the physical bible at the meetings... I think that was pointed out on a recent wt study. But for taking notes or search a subject on the fly don't see any problem...

Yes, I use a tablet. I record the assemblies and conventions as I take notes. Notability. I am not comfortable with using it for the WT study. Unless it is like today. I glanced at the WT, saw it had been marked in, got out next weeks WT and studied it. I did not have to announce to the congregation my goof. I have the magazines, and all the publications in iBook. Especially if it is in ePub. I do use the tablet for the songs. But I have always loved books. Never mind how precious the bible is. But, yes, I do use the tablet, and actually enjoy it.

my daughter ...picklepants ... uses one and im a bit bemused by it all. i can certainly see whatan excellent tool it is .... but i like holding the w.t and the bible in my hands. the only problem i can see happening is that we might get out of the habit of handling the bible itself... i assume that no one uses one out in the field? you want to hand someone your ipad... he might say "thank u " and shut the door!

I use mine most of the time and even use it for scriptures in the WT study but I have my Bible with me and use it to look up scriptures in the Public Talk and the ministry school. I would use it in service, along with my Bible if there was a subject I needed more information on, and especially doing incidental witnessing.

I too would worry about forgetting how to navigate around in my Bible if I exclusively used the tablet.

With the real Bible of course.

Yes, with a real Bible. But, know what? I talked to a brother at the DC that, as he is taking notes, can actually cut and paste the entire scripture in his notes, as he is taking the notes. Me? It would be a challenge to do it after the fact. But I have. My way. With the notability app, you can touch in your notes where you want to hear, and the recording goes there. I was doing notes for someone who missed that meeting. I put the scriptures in, using my bible. A tad challenged, I am.

You know, I would imagine with all the technology out there today, anti glare gorilla glass is a possibility. Never thought of that. When we were told not to be disruptive with iPads, I thought, what?? Then it dawned on me, holding it up, video recording. Not good. I don't see it at conventions, but I do see those tablets held up elsewhere, recording away.

Actually, yes, they are used out in service. We had a part on the service meeting here in the States a while back explaining just how to do it and it was to include demo's.

Also, this has become a standard way of service for many ASL congregations.
