'Mormon missionaries' caught on camera as they beat and rob victim at gunpoint after knocking on his door for a chat about religion Two suspects, not believed to be members of the Mormon Church, were dressed in typical missionary attire during the Las Vegas assaultTwo men posing as Mormon missionaries are wanted by police after they knocked on a door under the pretense of chatting about religion - before beating and robbing the victim at gunpoint. The suspects attacked the man at 6am on June 27 near Flamingo and Buffalo roads in Las Vegas. Police released stills of both suspects today. The pair reportedly knocked on the front door and asked to be speak with the resident about religion. After chatting for five minutes, the suspects whipped out a gun and robbed him. (This caught my attention, because since we are in the DEEP part of this system of things, there will be individuals who may pretend to be like us, who may become copy cats like these individuals who were caught on a surveillance camera, but yet were not caught officially. We all need to be vigilant, particularly perhaps even more so, our brothers).

Oh dear, this is awful. The news is already filled with mass murders, the poisoning of massive amounts of people in Egypt, failing nuclear plants, school shooting in GA, Australian thrill kill, dolphins dying, small fish in the Pacific with bleeding eyes/mouths/and bellies, road-rage etc.... now we may be scrutinized in our ministry for fear we are targeting innocent people. I think I need a 'time-out'. We are surely living in times 'worse than in the days of Noah'. Isn't it amazing how much is happening in such a short period of time? The Convention was reassuring as is the publications and meetings of late- and all these referring to points in the Draw Close Book. As well as getting more proficient in the use of our Bible's. The service meeting last night about the content of the SAD about Bible use is the same as the Symposium from Saturday at the convention. Are we getting the point? If we think things will slow down for us when the GT happens, well that may be sooo not true. We may need more than ever to have extensive Bible knowledge- even if it means just to get it in there so Jah can bring it out. We are on the verge, I feel it more than ever.

    My GPS is My Wife

Sent this to some friends and they suggested I post here. Hope you enjoy! I have a little GPS I've had it most of my lifeIt's better than the normal onesMy GPS is my wife It gives me full instructions Especially how to drive "It's thirty miles an hour", it says "You're doing thirty five" It tells me when to stop and start And when to use the brakeAnd tells me that it's never ever Safe to overtake It tells me when a light is red And when it goes to greenIt seems to know instinctively Just when to intervene It lists the vehicles just in front And all those to the rear And taking this into accountIt specifies my gear. I'm sure no other driver Has so helpful a device For when we leave and lock the car It still gives its advice It fills me up with counseling Each journey's pretty fraught So why don't I exchange it And get a quieter sort? Ah well, you see, it cleans the house, Makes sure I'm properly fed, It washes all my shirts and things And - keeps me warm in bed! Despite all these advantagesAnd my tendency to scoff, I do wish that once in a while I could turn the damned thing off.

Big City NY and Armageddon? T R O U B L E! Think, too, of all the money being saved by utilizing all of the newest technology including the self-sufficiency of being more of a green space. Wind turbines, geo-thermal technology, sooooo many ways to use natural resources now. Quite sure these types of things will be utilized. Jehovah's organization is a progressive one!

Interesting question Chris. I've wondered about this myself. After reading the article about the new development at Warwick (posted Aug 5 on jw.org/news) I posed the same question to my daughter who recently visited up there. Something she was told was that the new Warwick HQ for JW's was 'being built with the new system in mind'. I find that interesting and if true it makes perfect sense. Although completion is still some time off yet. But, think about it. What will the governing body need to be concerned about and involved with immediately after Armageddon? If they were in the city and completely surrounded by devastation, this could make it very difficult for them to function as they would need to. I understand the buildings in Warwick are mostly low rise and will probably be built to newer building codes able to withstand severe weather and earthquake forces, etc. It would be much easier from Jehovah's point of view having them out of the way (in rural surrounds) when that day finally comes. I understand that their transportation costs will be much higher now that they're off the beaten track and away from that more central area of NYC but we can be sure this all has Jehovah's stamp of approval. Jehovah knows the times and seasons. He held off bringing the flood in Noah's day until the ark was built and Noah and his family were safely inside and ready. I wonder if there is some kind of parallel with the new HQ buildings in Warwick....

There is a more recent article here http://nation.foxnews.com/2013/08/18/%E2%80%98million-muslim-march%E2%80%99-scheduled-911-currently-has-57-supporters-facebook#ixzz2ceAhToh1 that states: "However, the group's plan might be a little too ambitious. American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), based in Kansas City, Missouri, has just 57 supporters signed up for the September 11 event on Facebook." But then there is this article here http://www.mrconservative.com/2013/08/23107-hundreds-of-bikers-will-stage-a-counter-protest-against-million-muslim-march-on-dc-this-september-11/ that asserts "Bikers" will stage a massive protest against the AMPAC protest. Fukushima apocalypse...

I think Lin's just stating the obvious - we don't worry to much about those things because we know whats in store, just a tad different then the world. Which is why we can use this a added motivation to help those that are putting their heads in the sand to act on the only real solution, Jehovah's kingdom. The more this becomes a news item the more people are going to talk about it. That made me check on SE and found that this thread is ranking #2 on duckduckgo.com and #6 on Google search results for the subject. It's nice to know that people will come here and not see us overly concerned about it because we know what Jehovah has in store and they can also benefit from the conversation because we are also talking about the only legitimate solution there is for mankind. Of course we are worried about our brothers and sisters in and near Fukushima. I Fukushima stands out as one of those items on a long list that shows that man isn't in control of what he is doing. I'm wondering how many (brothers and sisters), in the end, will be affected by this. I know right after it happened that 1 was missing and we lost another But haven't heard much after that. Like you said Jdog.. back to that preaching work!

    Accident in Service

Backed into a tree out in service last week. Backing out of a drive way, looking over my shoulder, sisters all yapping;) then crunch!!! this tree was hanging out over the drive way on my drivers side rear and I just didn't see it. Dear hubby is a veteran and sometimes goes to VA for medical needs. So I asked him if he thought they (VA) would help with the repairs. He gave me that impatient, perplexed look and said "WHAT are you talking about"? (Thinking I'd flipped) I replied, "... because, it's a "service related" accident" heheheh, i'm so funney

I always wanted to visit World headquarters - however because of its location in Brooklyn-I would not. 30 + years ago my sister & hubby went and parked on the street near Bethel -brothers were amazed they still had a complete vehicle afterwards. I understand it has been much improved since then. Warwick--out in the country, low impact, energy efficient -my kind of building-right up my alley

  16. we sometimes think in favor of moving to new congregation mostly of what we can lable the situations that sound too much to handle for oursleves...partlythe issue is inside us...if not let ask ourselves to clear; does moving change the attitude of our brothers and sisters in the past congregation?....just think like this if everyone in the congregation thought the same way and decide to move into the new congregation and you all find yourselves into the same new congregation how will we react? will we move back to our old or find new one again?we should never overestimate what others have to do against what they are suppossed to do because their one of JWs-matured spiritual brothers and sisters, elders, overseers,COs,ministerial servants, annointed ones....our spirituality have to depend on our right attitude and strength from jehovah..when we see something that sound like we cant handle-we have to reflect back that its time to make ourselves stronger to cope....its never a good idea to avoid it for whatever reason-i think the best thing to do when the thought of moving came into our mind is to re-evaluate our situation to assure that we have done enough for ourselves..since we have seen the issues that may put our spiritual life to handle (a problem)we are in a better position to do something in our capacity by re-adjust our attitude and see how lovely this will come out not in a second or hour but continuosly...its time to pray honestly and hardly to jehovah over this asking for his strenghth for the all of us in the congregation... I love this fact:All congregations passed through four seasons like winter, summer, spiring and autumn..this reflect the fact that wether we move or stay in a congregation (new or old) we will experience the difference seasons...spiritually we must have the strength to endure all the seasons together as we hardly do mostly in our normal life....If your thinking of moving just think this way, better seasons are coming soon..

    My Dog is Weird!

Our dogs are on a raw food diet (meats and a vegetable/fruit blend that we prepare in a large batch, then freeze in smaller portions. One is a real food hound - she'll eat just about anything at any time. The other one is a bit more finicky. However, they both LOVE ice cream! One funny habit my food hound has: about 30-45 minutes after eating, she'll come over to me for a chest skritch, and then she will belch! At least I don't have to put her over my shoulder, and she doesn't spit up like a baby

I think they just painted over the words on the building. So they put down a drop cloth over the sidewalk. But is is rather sad. We do know they are rebuilding in Warrick. I wonder if the brothers are leaving NYC because stuff may get bad in the city? I think anywhere we live is going to get bad. But being in high-rises is going to have it's own specific set of problems. I do know that many brothers and sisters had PTSD after seeing the carnage across the river from headquarters. They watched it out their windows. How horrible. So this is a good thing.

And of course, none of them or their families are in any danger, just the poor unfortunates who happen to live on or near the areas their fighting over at the time. Truly unfortunate circumstances. The various heads of this wild beast can't continue to swipe at each other. Up coming Watchtower issues (July, November 2013) are really faith strengthening to counter all this heartbreaking news. The Navy hasn't yet responded to Jason Heap's application to be a 'nontheist' humanist chaplain, but Congress is considering a measure to ban atheist chaplains in the military. A U.S. Navy chaplain in Kuwait leads Marines in prayer before they head off to battle in Iraq in March 2003. Jason Heap says he wants to serve those sailors who don't believe in God. (Rick Loomis, Los Angeles Times / August 17, 2013) Jason Heap grew up in Texas among Baptists and Lutherans. He earned a master's from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. Now, at age 38, Heap wants to be a U.S. Navy chaplain. But Heap is a humanist who doesn't believe in God, and the U.S. military has never sanctioned a humanist chaplain. Nor has the Navy acted on Heap's application, filed last month, to become its first approved humanist chaplain. Heap says he's not trying to make a point or bring attention to himself. He says he wants only to serve his country — and those sailors who don't believe in God and hold what he calls "nontheist" beliefs. See above link for entire story. 25. I must say something to this article! But it is going to take time for me to stop giggling! Humanist? Rightttt. A thought that wandered into my mind this morning; if God meant for humans to die, then live in heaven, why even create the first pair? That belief has Satan as it's author, and flies in the face of common sense. God is a god of love, not destruction. One of my neighbors, here in the housing complex where I live, absolutely hates JW's. This woman won't even glance my way. I am willing to bet a Witness, maybe a family member?, told her the "truth", and she is playing ostrich. I was going to take the trrouble to find out the reason, but realized that Satan can use someone like that to destroy, or damage my spirituality. So, I'll just let her "stew" in her own juice, until she discovers she was sooo wrong! Difficult to even approach someone knowing that their feelings are askew. Many Thanx for letting me sound off, fellow believers. Agape'

  28. Years ago, a workmate told us he had had one of those out-of-body experiences during some surgery. He had the usual sensation of floating above his body, even though he was under general anesthetic at the time. He said he could see himself on the operating table, and could hear the doctors talking to each other. Following the surgery, after he came out of the anesthetic, he asked the doctor what had happened. He asked if he had almost died on the operating table, or if his heart had stopped, or other near-death scenarios had occurred. The doctor couldn't figure out why he was asking, since everything went well during the surgery. All was normal! So, what had happened? He never did find out. And he did not become a believer in life after death following that experience. (October 8, 1984, Awake, pages 3-11.)

The new building plan is to complete the 4 year project in two and a half years. Also, since there is no longer a need for the kind of access to shipping that once was there, being in a remote area should not increase distribution cost to any extent. They can now send complete documents, books, magazines, etc. around the world using the Internet and they are printed where needed. And, since more printed material is moved via truck instead of rail or ship, the cost of moving the short distance they are moving will be offset by not sitting in the backed-up heavy traffic that NY City has. I just wondered why they didn't move to a more "agreeable" climate, like that around Atlanta, Ga - a city that is also a major hub for transportation and Internet usage. But, they are directed by Holy Spirit - not by what I think or wonder

My 2 cents on the subject: "where 2 or more are gathered in my name, there is where my spirit will be"... no matter the faults, idiosyncrasies and short-comings of others, ourselves or the servants in the Cong., we are there to serve Jehovah with joy. The freedom to do so should always outweigh anything else. I go to meetings to serve Jehovah and be obedient, the bonus is, I love my Congregation - as a whole. I don't love everything they do, individually, as no one loves everything I do. Making allowances for others means they are making allowances for you.

  35. Wednesday, August 21 Time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.—Eccl. 9:11. As we draw ever closer to the end of this wicked world, more and more of Jehovah’s people are being affected by disasters and tragedies. We may find that our hearts are weighed down when we lose loved ones or suffer personal difficulties. Or we might even find ourselves plagued by some distressing circumstances or perceived injustices. Our anguished hearts may cry out: ‘Why, Jehovah? Why me? What did I do wrong?’ (Hab. 1:2, 3) We need to be careful not to assume that such events are an indication of Jehovah’s disapproval. Jesus highlighted this fact when referring to two tragedies that occurred in his day. (Luke 13:1-5) Many calamities are the result of “time and unforeseen occurrence.” But no matter what the cause of our distress, we can cope if we focus our attention on “the God of all comfort.” He will give us the strength required to continue on faithfully.—2 Cor. 1:3-6. w11 5/15 3:16-18 http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2013/8/21

Just because cats eat meat does not mean they were created as aggressive killers .... carrion is still meat. Since animals were never intended to live forever, what was to be done with their carcases? If the only thing any living creature ate was vegetable, would that mean that all dead animals would have to lay around until the heat and air decomposes them? ... without the help of animals or insects .... Insects? ... well, if animals are to be vegan, why not insects? It just seems to me that some animals must have eaten meat before man did. I am not quoting science, just my own thinking.

"Science" also teaches evolution as truth, so they have no credibility as far as I'm concerned. Jehovah can accomplish anything, even things that science says are impossible. He is going to resurrect the dead! He can't change animals eating habits?

  45. Being there is stunning! We went as a family years ago after they scraped paint off the old joint. Some places they actually found GOLD underneath that paint. My girlfriend attends ASL and for many years they held all their DCs at the Stanley Theater. She went to the restroom during a session once and noticed something. The A/C had just kicked on in the lobby and as she climbed the stairs she heard the chandelier tinkling. She realized that had she been at a hearing convention she never would have heard that sound. The thing that kills me is the feeling one gets as they sit in the theater. They can raise and lower the lighting behind the 'buildings' in front and on the sides and make it look like daylight or night. In daylight there are clouds painted on the beautiful blue sky ceiling. At night, with lowered lighting there are tiny lights that twinkle in the ceiling replicating the stars. Very cool. It is supposed to look like an Italian courtyard in front of a palazzo. Just beautiful and clever designing of our brothers.

  47. Wow so much work it looks nearly impossible! Or simply just overwhelming. It looks like Jehovah "proceeded to fill [them] with the spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in every sort of craftsmanship and for designing devices, for working in gold and silver and copper, and in working of stones to set them and in working of wood to make ingenious products of every sort. And he has put it into his heart that he should teach" (Exodus 35:31-34) Many brothers, ones of which have no professional résumé or experience on construction and how things are put together, are pulling this off. You would think a certain task would be overwhelming, but not so with a person who 'actually' loves Jehovah with every ounce of his life, not so with a person who 'worships' Jehovah in the true sense of the word and doesn't take that word "worship" lightly. If a person loves Jehovah from the bottom of his heart he will never consider a task as a burden, but a privilege despite it's difficulty, a privilege to know that every drop of sweat he puts into his hard work that his Creator is looking down on him with glad feelings in his own heart. The man knows that a sacrifice is not a sacrifice, unless it's a sacrifice. Doing hard and seemingly impossible work for our God gives us exactly that, a deep sense of sacrifice, which is why we are strengthened soooo much when we carry it out, knowing also that Jehovah is helping us also. I believe working hard for Jehovah God in any fashion actually helps a person develop 'intimacy' with God. Intimacy is what gives a warm attaching connection between us and Jehovah, which is really a result of deep love.
