One thing to consider, horrible occurrence, an unforeseen circumstance but we can be assured that Jehovah has these ones (these ever so faithful ones) in his memory awaiting the day of the resurrection. My brother as you travel to your convention and all those going, may Jehovah safeguard your physical souls as you attempt to nourish your spiritual ones. Indeed this sister is a fine example of diligently doing what Jehovah has asked with respect to gathering in the large congregation, her faithful attempt despite the outcome showed Jehovah several things about this woman's faith. Her decision to brave the elements despite likely being fearful showed she was also whole souled in her worship. While we do not know the day nor the hour, we know that all are being readied as to fitness for life in the new system of things. I sometimes think of those who fall asleep in death prior to outbreak of the GT as ones who are deeply loved and cherished by Jehovah as he has allowed for them to be ensured entrance to the paradise through their premature deaths. May her family (all 8 million of us) reflect on this woman's sacrifice and work to imitate her no excuses attitude. May her immediate fleshy family receive an outpouring of love and support from the brotherhood and the peace of Jehovah himself.

Oh, Obed, this is so sad but more for you since you can relate to the circumstances. What a brave mother to try and forge this river in a canoe with her children. I am sure they are used to do such things there but here we would not be able to cross a river in a canoe, we are not prepared in ability to do this. Obed, have you ever been on that river?

    Airline flights

This is kind of fun! Every day we see planes, sometimes very high, with or without con-trails. Have you ever wondered what plane is flying overhead and where it is going? Airbus A320, 330, Boeing 727, 747 or some other manufacturer. What altitude, what speed, what airline? Now you can see all this information instantly. You can watch the plane whose vapor trail you can see over head move across the land and see what the plane is flying over. It is fascinating to see how many aircraft are flying in your area. I can now see why an air traffic controller is one very, very busy person. A note to help you get more out of your visit to the site. This shows all the aircraft in the air right now. In the left hand column, there is a box called "planes". The number in the box is the number of aircraft airborne. This view is what the various airport air traffic management people see for planning purposes. Some additional tricks: Drag the map to take you to the area you want to view. To view your region or town, you can zoom in by tapping with your mouse. When you double click on a airplane, the left screen will show all the related information - airline, plane type, air speed, altitude in real time that is re-calculated every 10 seconds. On some, you can also click on view from the cockpit. A few planes will show as 'blocked", and these are likely military aircraft. 6. This experience was given by brother Splane of the Governing Body at an assembly in Ouhu some years ago. In an eastern European country in 1989 there was a huge 8.9 earthquake that killed 30,000 people in 4 minutes. It happened in the morning and a man had just returned from taking his small son to school. After seeing that his wife was alright, he went straight back to the school to find his son. When he got there he found it flattened, just rubble. He stood there devastated. Then he remembered a promise he had made to his son some time back. He had told him that as long as there was life and breath in his body, he would be there for him. So with that promise in his mind, he went around to the northeast side of rubble where his son's classroom had been and started digging through the debris. Soon a neighbor came out and told him there was nothing he could his son was dead, the man did not stop digging, he just asked " Are you going to help me now?" Later the firechief came by and told him to stop digging, that no one was alive and he was putting himself in danger. Again, the father simply asked " Are you going to help me now?" After many more hours of digging the chief of police came and told him he was putting other people in danger, ordering him to go home and leave it to the professionals. The man again said nothing but" Are you going to help me now?" Finally after 38 hours of digging through concrete and twisted metal, the man moved a final boulder and found a small space where several children had been protected. His son was among them. The first thing he said to his father was " Daddy, I told them not to be scared. I knew you would come". Brother Splane paused, and then he said... " The faithful slave is engaged in a massive search and rescue mission. It is an enormous task, and what they are asking of you and me is : " Are you going to help me now?" Then he walked off the stage. http://bestrealstories.blogspot.com/2010/05/fathers-promise-ill-always-be-there-for.html

My husband would love this. He has worked on planes for 25 yrs and can look up in the sky and tell you what kind of plane is flying, drives me absolutely insane. He will just point and say "that's a boeing 777" or whatever. I'll have to show this to him. He can add it to his collection of other flight stuff. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Hi JuliusMoon Reader can increase the font as much as you want (and intuitively sliding your finger on the right corner of the divece) Is it big enough? I don't know if the characters are correct on the above image but you can put any special font on the folder "sdcard/fonts". You can choose also the option "use embeded font" to use the font used to create the magazine. When opening, if the font is missing you have the option to download it. Hope this helps ;)

This breaks my heart (and I know it breaks Jehovah's too). It's so rare that you hear of something this tragic when someone is on their way to a convention but in the times we are living in, it shouldn't come as too much of a shock - but we've all lost a precious sister and her children and it hurts. Our prayers go out to those in her congregation and any who knew them.

  16. I don't look at 'defense sites' as a lot of the brothers on those tend to refute claims by apostates. We've been specifically told by the faithful slave not to try to respond to their false claims. Where there is no fuel, the fire goes out. Don't give them reason to attack! But I must say that the blogs by missionaries and need greaters are very nice reads. It's always encouraging to see how others are doing earth wide preaching the good news.

  26. In a conversation this morning, with an elderly sister, the tribulation came up. In this next week's WT study article, the picture on page 11, and paragraph 13 were discussed. We agreed that those 4 winds are going to be like the "wind sheer:, that causes planes to crash, trees to be ripped out of the ground, and general mayhem. I'm wondering if I am faith ready, and strong enough to keep my head up until Jehovah says, finis!

  28. I faintly remember trying different eBook apps for my Android device. The main problem for me as regards MoonReader was its lack of support for non-Latin characters. A major part of my theocratic activities focus on languages using Ethiopian characters (Ge'ez). Finding an easy-to-use/intuitive Android app that would make it easy to read/show publications of the Organisation has thus been almost impossible. It doesn't seem to be depending on whether an appropriate font has been installed on the device or not. I can see the characters just fine when for instance viewing the Daily Text on WOL in either Tigrinya or Amharic. Additional challenge has been to find an app that fulfills the requirement above, but also has no limit on the font size. Sometimes I've joined in at a Bible study where the Tigrinya-speaking student is also visually-impaired. If the characters are large enough he can read the Scriptures for instance, but most apps seem to be offering just a few predefined options, eg. Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge. How about XXXXXL?

That is true, I will leave it alone. I wanted to make it as easy as I could for the friends on here from around the world. But, as you say, it is easy enough to change locations. They have apps available for most all platforms. The one for Android is $2.99

Welcome to our exclusive club, Sharon! Everyone of us imperfect Witnesses can empathize, moralize, and dramatize their own personality flaws. But knowing that Jehovah has your best interests at heart, is drawing you closer, day by day, extending to you personally, the gift of prayer, should help you square your shoulders, stand up straight, and march to Paradise with us all! Right?

    China experience...WOW

We have a dear friend that spent 2 years in China. When we asked her about her experiences there she said the government knows Jehovah's Witnesses are there. It knows everything and the friends call it the sleeping dragon. It could swoop down and strike at any moment. The work that is done there is very low key and she asked us not to ask her about any details as the repercussions could be disastrous. Yes, she was in contact with Bethel and is now a Need Greater in Mexico. They stay at our house when they come to the states. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk

  37. My cousin on my Dad's side has been trying to trace our Grandmother's family. Her Mother became destitute after her husband died of pneumonia before the First World War. She had to work to live and her eldest daughter - my grandmother - along with her mother, became a house-servants after a spell in one of Britain's harsh 'workhouses' (they've all been closed down for decades now ). Her 2 little brothers ended up in the children's home - Barnardo's. They were sent, as children, with hundreds of other children in other church-backed children's homes, to the Colonies in Australia and Canada as hard labour on ranches/farms. We traced them to Canada on ship manifests and then to a Barnardo's office to be assigned somewhere and after which they are no longer there and they just disappeared off records. My cousin has contacted a man in Canada who says he has been trying for years to trace records as to what happened to such 'Home Children' as they are called, but warns us not to get our hopes up if records have petered out. Having read the history of what happened to many of these children, we are not hopeful. Many ended up in the middle of no where - wilderness ranches, no help, no medical assistance, no proper clothes for the weather there, not used to the environment and many died of exposure or overwork; exhaustion, beatings, starvation or disease. they were expendable as more were sent for many years to replace them, without anyone being informed as to how the previous consignment fared. Thank goodness for the resurrection hope to 'the real life' - these poor little souls born into merciless or thoughtless societies, didn't stand a chance in this human-ruled World.

  41. Crabby Old ManJuly 31, 2010 at 3:53pm PublicFriendsOnly MeCustomFamilySpiritual FamilySee all lists...news feedBountiful, Utah AreaGo BackWhen an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in North Platte, Nebraska , it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, They found this poem . Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital . One nurse took her copy to Missouri. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the St . Louis Association for Mental Health . A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem . And this little old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Crabby Old Man What do you see nurses? . . What do you see? What are you thinking . . . . . When you're looking at me? A crabby old man, .. . . Not very wise, Uncertain of habit . .. . . . . . . With faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food . . . . . . .. And makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . . . . . 'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . . The things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . . . . . .. A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not . . . . . Lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking? Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse. . You're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am . .. . . . As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, . . . . . . As I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . . . . With a father and mother, Brothers and sisters . . . . . . . . . Who love one another. A young boy of Sixteen . . . . With wings on his feet. Dreaming that soon now . . . . . . .. A lover he'll meet. A groom soon at Twenty . . . . My heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows . . . . That I promised to keep. At Twenty-Five, now .. . . . . .. I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . . . With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons . . . . Have grown and are gone, But my woman's beside me . . . To see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, . . . . Babies play' round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . . My wife is now dead. I look at the future . . . . . . . I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing . . . Young of their own. And I think of the years . . . . And the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . . . . . . And nature is cruel. 'Tis jest to make old age . . . . . Look like a fool. The body, it crumbles .. . . . Grace and vigor, depart. There is now a stone . . . . Where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . . A young guy still dwells, And now and again . . . . . . . My battered heart swells. I remember the joys . . . . . . . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . . .. . . . Life over again. I think of the years . . . All too few . . .. Gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . . That nothing can last. So open your eyes, people . . . . . . . . Open and see.. Not a crabby old man .. Look closer . .. See . . . . ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within . . . . .
