This weeks watchtower is so timely.... From paragraph 4: Yet, as Satan’s system nears its end, we can expect the issue of neutrality to become more prominent. The world is filled with people who are “not open to any agreement” and “headstrong,” so it will only become more divided and polarised and paragraph 13 Taking undue pride in our place of origin is at the heart of nationalism and could be the first step on a path to compromise. There is great unrest in the UK today. Looking on social media this morning, people are very angry about the decision. Lots of name calling and arguments. There's a strong sense of patriotism being spouted by the camp who wanted to leave the EU. The watchtower is a great reminder for us not to not get swept up in it.....but also very exciting to see how overnight things can change and Bible prophecy being fulfilled. Our congregation really belted out 'hail Jehovahs firstborn' last night, felt very emotive.24 points

I found a wonderful way to super clean those greasy filters attached under the kitchen microwave. (I initially was going to replace them but I looked online and they costs between $5 and $40.00.) I'm learning how to "be my own handyman". So, I took them out and submerge both filters in boiling hot water for up to 10 minutes with a small cup of baking soda and a squirt of dishwashing liquid. (The baking soda acts as a solvent). I couldn't believe my eyes as the grease was dissolved from both filters in less than 10 minutes--looking brand new! However, this process only works on soft metal or aluminum filters. I also cleaned off old rust formed in my bathroom sink using coca-cola. (The cola contains phosphoric acid which is a solvent.) Using the cola and crushed aluminum foil, I wiped off the rust within just a few minutes. One more handy tip: distilled vinegar and water works wonders in the home (kitchen, bathroom, windows.) It'll save you money as opposed to buying chemical cleaners--which can be a health hazard.6 points

Brexit Ramifications
Miss Mouse and 3 others reacted to Sallyforth for a topic
I've been following this Brexit issue for a while and there seemed to be a pretty strong consensus that the Remain side would win right up to the night of the vote. But as a Witness we all recognize the world was prophesied to become increasingly ungovernable. So for us I don't think it's as big a surprise as it is to the rest of the world. Clearly, government, media, and financial leaders underestimated how "the people" really felt. I do admit, however, that I will be afraid to look at my 401K figures for a bit. Perhaps, for a very long time.4 points -
By calling "you know who", out, you have diminished his power. That is part of his game plan, weaken our resolve, make us suffer discouragement, and blame someone besides the real culprit. We truly are fortunate to know the cause of the world's woe, and who to blame!4 points

This thread is primarily to share handyman tips and ideas.. A couple of months ago one of the drinking fountains at the Assembly Hall plugged up, I was trying to snake the drain line but was having a hard time getting the snake past the first turn. I wanted to see how the drain line was installed but it was inside of a wall. I found a access plate on the wall several feet away and it was just barely large enough for me to hold my phone inside the hole and video the drinking fountain drain line coupling configuration. Once I knew where the drain line went, it was easier to get the snake in the right place to clear the line. I was worried about holding my phone inside the wall, if I dropped it I would not be able to retrieve it. If only I had something better to grip it.. Fast forward to today... While browsing a newly opened Dollar Store, I found a 24" telescoping cell phone selfie stick. Perfect! It has just been added to my tool box of odd tools. I plan to use it in the near future to video my attic before I climb up there. It will also be handy to video hard to access areas in the garage and workshop.3 points

We might not necessarily have to "go" anywhere. We may receive instructions to stay at home with the door locked and curtains drawn. The point is to be ready for whatever happens next. You may have to leave your home if mobs are forming and roaming the streets. Who knows what's going to happen next, but it will happen fast. Having a 3-day supply of necessities like it has been suggested by the GB is just makes good sense.....3 points

The Brexit drama and its ramifications will play out in the coming months, with political commentators giving these possibilities for other European countries: What Greece fears most is not an anti-EU referendum influenced by right-wing parties, but rather the EU pushing Greece out in order to save cohesion among the remaining members. Denmark has so far relied on Britain as a strong ally in negotiations with the EU, Without Britain, Denmark won't have the locomotive to tow Danish interests. Swedes probably would start to have bigger doubts about whether their voice as a smaller country without the euro would still be heard in Brussels, should the EU continue its integration process. Geert Wilders, the head of a right-wing populist party, has supported a Brexit and hopes for a similar referendum to take place in the Netherlands. His anti-muslim immigration stance is giving him a lead in the polls. Hungary, as we know, was also opposed to the mass refugee influx, and was the first country to boldly close its borders. They will be having a referendum, which may further unsettle EU cohesion. Hungarians will be asked to decide whether the EU should be allowed to resettle refugees despite a lack of consent by national parliaments affected by the decision. The French are some of the biggest EU skeptics: 61 percent have an unfavorable view of the union. France still has not managed to fully escape high unemployment numbers and weak economic growth. Many French also watched with disbelief when Merkel opened Germany's borders to Syrian refugees in 2015. http://www.smh.com.au/world/brexit-these-countries-could-be-next-now-that-britain-has-left-the-eu-20160624-gprn1c.html#ixzz4CXzPQy8t Short term pain, well it will be hard financially for some as the monetary markets bounce around. We have always had clear direction from Jehovah to keep our eyes simple, keep close to our congregations and help out our brothers and sisters, and focus on the kingdom. These tumultuous times do affect us, but we are buffered to some extent because we are doing what Jehovah is directing us. And we know he will look after us materially whatever happens.2 points -
'Whole food' chocolate pudding
Cherie and one other reacted to bagwell1987 for a topic
I think it's the cacao, it's not your average cocoa, it hasn't been cooked. It retains all the enzymes and has a richer deeper flavor. And the honey is best when you use what's local to your area. And I used real vanilla that was bought for me in Mexico (I'm pretty sure that's where it was), MD brought it back for me. And yes the avocados are neutral in flavor. You can still taste them a little bit but it's so creamy and chocolately you almost have to force yourself to taste them. For MH to eat it and ask for more, it has to be good. He HATES avocados. I put strawberries on his too, oh wow did he dig in.2 points -

Not sure where to post, but wanted to share . . . Last Saturday was not a good day. I decided to go horseback riding, something I hadn't done in over 30 yrs. It turned out to be a big mistake! I got on the horse and started out slow but then we went a little faster, and before I knew it we were going as fast as the horse could go! I couldn't take the pace and fell off but caught my foot in the stirrup with the horse dragging me. It wouldn't stop. It just kept going around and around in a circle. Thank goodness the store manager at Wal-Mart came out and unplugged the machine! :-)2 points -

This should be in its own thread.. This is big, leaving it hiding behind a US political stunt doesn't do it justice. If you separate them, they could stand on their own, but together, y'know? It would be huge, but separate, but, together all at the same time. . Kinda like a 2 headed monster--- (yes, sometimes, I can't even stand myself )2 points -
Sister Nancee as you guessed, the avocado acts like a thickening agent. But what is better is the rich chocolate taste from the cocoa. (You can't really taste the avocado since the fruit in itself has a mild flavor!) Try it, you'll like it!2 points

Just read in the Korean TImes, that their money "Won" went down a lot due to England separating itself from the EU Union. So then the people S.K., said that if N.K. tries anything against them they are all willing to fight to the last (except we know it does not include our brothers over there). So this to me is a unique report, prophecy in motion and I can only pray that the end comes next year (if that is Jehovah's will).1 point -

Good idea. Any kind of remote camera is a good thing. Back when I still worked for a living I used a camera quite often for this type of thing. It was before I had a cell phone, well before they put decent cameras on phones. Reach cam into tight spot, flash, check display...when I got back to the shop I had photo evidence of what I had been doing all day. Nowadays I use the phone camera display to look up onto the rare shelves that I can't see into...1 point

I have been thinking about that chocolate pudding since you posted the recipe....because it looks so good. Tell me, what do the avocados bring to the pudding recipe...I imagine their flavor doesn't overtake the cocoa....right. Are the avocados like a thickening agent sort of? Anyhoo, your culinary creation looks like it'd taste great...right up my alley...so to speak!1 point -
