  1. There is a very worldly saying in the USA, 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,' meaning that sometimes it is better to just keep things to yourself. When one subscribes to the podcast on jw.org to get an email notification and download link to the Watchtower and Awake magazines, that download link is from the same site as the monthly program. No one seems to think it is wrong to download a pdf file from their email before the magazine is posted on jw.org but some have a problem with downloading a video before it is posted on jw.org or tv.jw.org. We don't belong to a secret society, so why act like it. The food is still coming from the faithful slave.

  2. There is really no need to talk about either. We closed the beard topic because it was getting heated. We don't need to rehash those arguments here. If we can't say anything nice then maybe we shouldn't say anything at all. Please leave the judgmental attitude at the door and let's keep this topic fun. Ok?

  3. In my case it is still an internet speed thing. I can download more quickly at night. Plus it used to take several hours to complete. So I start it during the night so as to finish on Monday during the morning. Our family worship is Monday night and if I waited any longer it would not be possible to see it at that time. Our congregation shows the video on Saturday, so I would like to view it at home before I go there. As you say, personal choice. It is still difficult to convey the fact that whether you go directly to the server or go to JW.Org and have them take you to the server, it is the same server at the same place and put there by the same people at the same time. I don't try to explain it to those who are not interested in the information. Just smile and wave.

  4. Lately it seems the broadcast is available on JWB just a few hours after its available by using the link, so unless you really want to watch the broadcast a few hours early, it's just as easy to wait for it to be available on JWB. It's a personal choice.

  5. What a wonderful thread! Like many of you, I have a million thoughts flying through my head. But something that stands out to me personally is how Jehovah helps me. When I wait on him, he opens doors. Big doors that I had no way to see over, under or around. His kindness is abundant, way more than what we actually 'need', but he gives it anyway. For this, I am truly grateful.

  6. The west has a saying, "Smoke & Mirrors" meaning it is an illusion. Used in so called "illusionists entertainment acts" What you think you see is not real. Holy smoke & Roman mirrors is just the writer's way of saying all the so-called changes in the Roman Catholic church never happened, giving a 'religious sounding' play on words.

When I saw those birds perched on those costly airline seats, I cracked up laughing. All that bird poo, they can't fly around because he had those face masks on them. But seeing 80 hawks sitting on those seats just was to funny to pass up. I hope I have the story in the right spot. With all that's going on world wide, I think this hit the spot for a small funny.

  10. Jehovah has always been there for me, even when I didn't deserve anything good from him. I struggle so much with feeling unloved and not Part of a famIly. But the scripture in psalms has been bringing me comfort for some time, "Even if my own father and mother should abandon me , Jehovah himself will take me in". With my mother's abuse, and my father as an alcoholic and stealing my identity, I never really had stable parents. But Jehovah has been the perfect parent to me. The main being in my life who truly loves me. Despite feeling like a monster most of the time, Jehovah continues to hold me close when I deserve to be let go to fall. He's always been there for me when I felt so alone. He's kept me alive during the times I wanted to die. And he's never gave up on me even when I kept doing the wrong thing all the time. There's nothing out there in Satan's world that can replace what Jehovah had done for me. I strive so hard to not do the wrong thing, and I constantly pray for the forgiveness I don't deserve. Battered and bruised I limp on forward with Jehovah holding my hand. The watchtower today really hit home for me about undeserved kindness. I love Jehovah for that kindness, and for being my Heavenly Father.

  11. A really good Topic Of course, there are many things I love about Jehovah. But one special thing for me is the fact, that he has given us the same characteristic traits he himself has. I am a very emotional person - Everytime I see somebody cry, I have to cry, too (even if I don´t know the reason or the person). Sometimes it´s a little bit annoying, because I really can´t control it. But then I think "hey, this might be a form of deep compassion - one of Jehovah´s great characteristic traits". What a great honour to have the same feelings Jehovah has! He lets us participate in his inmost nature - what a valuable gift!

  13. I totally agree with you and i understand what you're saying perfectly. But I got into trouble and made myself a bad name just because of the early access to the broadcasting. Now those who know think I'm getting those videos in some illegal manner. And to make things worse, I can't explain how I get them because they wouldn't understand. And because of this, I don't consider your post to be a joke. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

  14. What I like best about Jehovah is how his qualities perfectly balance each other. How his love, mercy and justice, all work together perfectly. His deep wisdom in dealing with a sinful world that is out of control. How he is going to execute justice while mercifully and lovingly saving the righteous. Once you see the big picture, you realize that Jehovah is doing exactly what has to be done, there is no better way. Everything he allows has to be alloved, or it would not work. Satan has to be allowed to test us and we have endure to have faith. If Jehovah blessed all of his followers with wealth and protected them from all harm, everyone would serve Jehovah. But few would serve for the right reasons. As a people and as individuals, we are refined. The selfish and haughty either become the unselfish and humble, or they don'the last long in the truth. They are weeded out. Even when we have hard times, we see Jehovah'set love and wisdom. I am deeply touched by how he watches over my mother. Her heat was off and after work I checked her furnace, it needed an expensive part that is hard to get and is not available locally unless you hire a heating contractor. But I knew Jehovah would make things work out. I could not locate a local source as I expected, and was checking for local contractors who service the model of furnace my mother has in hopes of finding one who would sell the part for cash. As I scanned the list on the Internet, I saw the name of the heating contractor I call at work for our building. I knew that he would sell it to me, I called and he had it and would have been gone in another 10 minutes. He was only five minutes away and I had the heat back on at my mother's that evening. The temperature that night dropped to about 10 F, so it was important that the heat was working. I am a practical person, but when I travel with my mother, the laws of probability seem to take a holiday as the highly improbable becomes common place. Booked hotels have an opening, parking spaces magically appear, wrong turns take right where you wanted to go. I have given up trying to tell Mom that something is never going to work, because I have gotten tired of being wrong. Jehovah watches over Mom like a hawk. I want to be as faithful as my mother because I want that too. Not so I would never have to worry about having a reservation or everything works out well all the time, though I could live with that. I just want Jehovah's eye on me like it is on Mom. Almighty Jehovah, sovereign of the entire universe, has a soft spot for my mother. That is what I want, I want to be Jehovah's friend like my Mom is. That is one of the dearest things about Jehovah, we can be his friend and he cares deeply about us. He positively dotes over my mother. Now my mother still has her troubles, but being a practical person, I can see that things work out much better for her than what they should. I see that with others in the truth too, and even in my own case. Jehovah lovingly and protectively watches over us. You can bet that if it wasn'the for Jehovah watching over us, the Devil would have wiped us out a long time ago. Each day my children come home from school, I know that it is because Jehovah is watching over them. Tragedies can happen, but even then we know that we will see our loved ones in the resurrection. Jehovah is always there watching over us and is always there for us. Hard times are coming, but even if my mother can'take find a parking spot, I know that Jehovah is with us and we'll wipe every tear from our eyes in the new world. Jehovah is a very endearing father to us.

  15. http://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/pope-francis-divider-1.3965860 Pope Francis is a conundrum. From a pontiff of glorious colours of liberation and freshness, he suddenly turns into a complacent grey and a very Latin American conservative. He promises much but, it must be said, delivers little. ... Catholic liberals and progressives have certainly felt empowered under Francis, but when they ask themselves what this has actually meant in the parishes, churches and pews, many admit that it's mostly holy smoke and Roman mirrors

Passports?!..Seems a bit hawkish if you ask me! So the Crown Prince can walk the hawk but not talk the talk, eh?! Well, it gives new meaning to the cultural phrase, "the hawk is flying high tonight". Uh, should this post go in the "bad jokes" thread?

  22. Monday, February 6 Let your will take place . . . on earth.—Matt. 6:10. About 6,000 years ago, God’s will was being done perfectly on earth. That is why Jehovah could look upon the fine start he had given to mankind and say: “It was very good.” (Gen. 1:31) Then Satan rebelled, and ever since, comparatively few humans have done God’s will on earth. But today we are privileged to be alive at a time when about eight million Witnesses not only are praying for God’s will to take place on earth but also are striving to live in harmony with that prayer. They do so by their way of life and by having a zealous share in the disciple-making work. Until the enemies of God’s Kingdom are removed from the earth, we will continue to pray for God’s will to be done. Then we will see God’s will taking place in an even more complete way as billions are resurrected on a paradise earth. (John 5:28, 29) What a wonderful time to be alive to welcome back our dead loved ones! w15 6/15 4:15, 17

  28. Xin chào, anh trai của tôi. ( Please excuse my accent!) I used to be surrounded by quite a few Vietnamese brothers and sisters when I was in a French congregation here. That's where I learned a couple of semi-Vietnamese phrases. There was a Vietnamese group in our hall (and it's still there today some 30 years later). I don't see them so much now anymore, but I can only imagine how excited they would be to hear that news! (Maybe they listen to the same grapevine you do.)

  33. Thank you for this post. You don't know what it's been like out in service and some of the things the friends have said amongst themselves. That a certain someone even looked like the devil. I just bite my tongue and tried not to say anything one way or the other. I would just tell myself , nope, don't say a word. I'm going to print out these reminders and possibly give it to them individually so as not to embarrass anyone.

  34. I love that Jehovah is always there. No matter what's going on in our life or where we are he is always available for us to talk to.I get lonely sometimes but all I have to do is talk with Jehovah about it and then pick up my bible and he talks to me and I feel so much better. I can vividly remember the days before I knew him. That was true loneliness.

  36. In my previous job, where I got laid off eventually, I had to work with an ERP software that didn't support copy + paste (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) Eventually I managed to program this functions into my personal cusomized GUI. When I told somebody about this asking if they didn't need this essential function too, they asked me with what authority I am tampering with their ERP database. I said it had nothing to do with the central database but completely client-sided. My team-leader impatiently replied she doesn't understand what this talk about "client-sided" is.. Only a few days later, it was decided the server room was to be regularly locked up at a certain time. when she left the company. I had instances before that job where I solved people's PC problems, for example by means of the "CMD" console or something similar and was actually asked whether I was hacking. It's so stupid, so absolutely ignorant and braindead that all I can do about it is laugh and joke about it, otherwise I would have to cry. So, I still think it's funny and I still call it "hacking" in respect to the overall ignorance of IT matters.

  39. Sunday, February 5 The sons of men promote depravity.—Ps. 12:8. With immorality so pervasive, you may wonder, ‘Is it really possible to live a chaste life?’ Yes, with Jehovah’s help. However, in order to live a chaste life, we must reject immoral desires. Just as a baited hook may attract a fish, so immoral thoughts and lewd desires—when not immediately dismissed—may begin to draw out and entice a Christian. They can appeal to our fallen flesh and lead us toward immoral acts. In time, the allure of sin may become so great that the unclean desire becomes fertile. At that point, even a servant of Jehovah may be ready to act on his desire when an opportunity arises. Yes, “desire . . . gives birth to sin.” (Jas. 1:14, 15) It is sobering to reflect on how a momentary desire can develop into a serious sin. But how encouraging it is to know that if we prevent unclean desires from taking root, we need not become involved in immoral conduct and suffer its bitter consequences!—Gal. 5:16. w15 6/15 3:1-3

  40. Several residents of Canada & the US have had their NEXUS border passes revoked. So much for people with permanent resident cards or green cards not being impacted. The choice to revoke the NEXUS cards - whose holders are already extremely vetted- is made by the individual officer. Just on noon news - TTC union locals ( Toronto Transit ) have been locked out of their offices by American union headquarters. The headquarters gave no warning and no reason. "Not open to any agreement" comes to mind.

  44. During the present political upheavals, I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself that I am an alien resident who has NO involvement with the land in which I live. It is hard, so I daily review these appropriate references when I am tempted to have a negative opinion. (Exodus 22:28) 28 “You must not curse God nor curse a chieftain among your people. (1 Peter 2:17) 17 Honor men of all sorts, have love for the whole association of brothers, be in fear of God, honor the king. *** w12 12/15 p. 23 par. 17 Maintaining Our Position as “Temporary Residents” *** Christians show the respect and honor that accords with the positions of those officials. (Romans 13:1-4) 1 Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, …4 for it is God’s minister to you for your good. *** w02 11/1 p. 14 par. 19 “Maintain Your Conduct Fine Among the Nations” *** Since Jehovah God allows humans to occupy various positions of authority, we show those humans appropriate honor. We even pray concerning them, to the end that we may be allowed to pursue our ministry in peace and with godly devotion. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) (1 Timothy 2:1, 2) …I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made concerning all sorts of men, 2 concerning kings and all those who are in high positions…

  47. (Edited)... I've own several cameras over the years and my latest one is the Nikon D3100 ( a beginners camera.) I have beautiful photos I had taken in my long-past travels , from the beautiful sunrise/sunsets in Oahu to the majestic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to a heart-tugging giraffe orphanage in Nairobi. Nikon does live up to its' reputation I admit. And too, I managed to obtain a couple of good lenses along the way and used them mainly for landscape shooting. (Autumn foilage, city backdrops, Bethel buildings, etc.) Jehovah willing, soon as I get on my feet again, I'll be back out in "the great outdoors" again. From a photographer's perspective, I Fall colors!
