  2. I hadn't seen AMI Duos before, it looks really solid and would be a great no-fuss solution to Android on PC. My current PC and several before it still use their BIOS. I like Remix OS because it's free (based on open source Android-x86), and adds desktop functionality like right clicking and multiple windows. I'm a poor techie so I don't mind setting up new OS' as much. I've had issues with several Windows 10 apps including JW Library, so I mainly stick with WT Online Library on PC, and WT Library for older archived articles. I love JW Library on my tablet however, it has a 128 MicroSD card and an HDMI out so I can download every single video and plug it into any TV. Sorry, I get very

    Catching up...

Feeling overwhelmed now. My sister that was DF'ed called me Thursday night. I let it go to voice mail. She said she needed to talk to me about our sister. I called her back immediately and was told that she had accompanied her to the doctor that day and was told her melanoma cancer had metastasized to her spleen and lymph system. Four to eight months was the best they could offer with no treatment of choice for this type of CA. My son Jason, whom I had not seen for 6 years moved back 5 months ago. I got attached to my beautiful red haired Chinese granddaughter and he let me know 1 week ago they were returning to China. They left two days ago. My other son and his family will be arriving from China in April. I dread it. He is an active alcoholic and I hate getting sucked into that situation because I am just so darn good at supporting bad behavior when I feel like I am Fixing or helping". Have attended two AlAnon meetings where I will not get sucked into that role again. Hard to talk with friends about alcoholism because they have such a forgiving nature that they do not know how to detach and use tough live. My charge nuse nurse told me that I need to learn to set boundaries and how to say no. She said she has observed my kind and generous attitude and asked me if it was hard to 'be all things to all people"? Right after saying this we were in a room admitting a new heart patient when the roommate, behind the privacy curtain started moaning extremely loud, and almost screaming in agony 'Father God! Oh precious Jesus! Help me! Help me please ". She repeated this three times and I pulled her curtain and said "Mrs. S--------, may I help you?" She got such a nasty look on her face and barked at me "Is your name Jesus?!" I said "well, no. But I am here right now". My charge nurse found it hard not to laugh out loud, and as we walked out of the room she put her arm around me and whispered 'See? Quit trying to be all things to all people!" Point taken. I need to buckle down on reading my AlAnon book before my son arrives. So dreading his move back.. he is such a manipulator. If this appears in the open to public area---please move it to a private.

  4. Nnaemeka, will you correct Jesus too? (Matthew 7:26, 27) . . .Furthermore, everyone hearing these sayings of mine and not doing them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and struck against that house, and it caved in, and its collapse was great.” (Matthew 25:1, 2) 25 “Then the Kingdom of the heavens may be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were discreet. And Paul! (Romans 1:21-23) . . .For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their senseless hearts became darkened. 22 Although claiming they were wise, they became foolish 23 and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and birds and four-footed creatures and reptiles. . .

    Confusion Reigns Supreme

I began my digital life with Morse Code back in the late 1950's and it is still a beautiful, simple binary (or trinary) code used today. By 1980 I began a 20 year affection for command line computer processing. I used DOS right to the end of 1990's. I still get out my older computer and run through some DOS exercises (the keyboard was king). No one in the commercial market ever asks me what I want in computer systems, they just tell me what I can use. Sigh.

    The Bad Joke thread

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were camping. In the middle of the night Sherlock Holmes woke up and looked at the night sky above him. He called to Dr. Watson to wake up. When he did, Holmes told him to look up and tell me what you see. Watson said "I see the moon and stars." Holmes said "and what do they tell you?" Watson said "They show evidence of a grand creator" Holmes asked "what else?" Watson said "They show the limitlessness of the Universe, the unaccountable number of stars and Planets show the insignificance of mankind and the galaxies cry out and glorify the creator." Watson added "What do they tell you Holmes?" Holmes said "They tell me someone has stolen our tent."

  14. It's so easy to have the transcript these days with the branch providing official subtitles along with the videos. The first few months when the broadcasting came out I used to type out the transcripts by listening to the audio. It took about 10 pages per broadcasting. I remember the interview of a brother that worked on the watchtower farms. I think he was from Texas. It took me couple days of days to transcribe his 10 min interview Sent from my LG-H440n using Tapatalk

  15. Everything seems to change. But rarely do we find things that are "Immutable". So I thought this may be a good word to use sometimes when trying to help someone see the differences between human laws or certain theoretical scientific laws by humans that can change when new evidence is presented versus Jehovah and His "immutable" Laws and Truths. This term could be useful when brothers give certain talks, if the brother of course just gives a brief explanation since it is not a common word. I really like this interesting word that actually points toward the Creator and His laws and His Truths! Therefore this word could be used to help others in some way in the ministry or from the platform. Below are some articles in which the FDS has used this term. What are your thoughts? How can this word be used to help others? (Merriam-Webster) Immutable : not capable of or susceptible to change *** w91 12/1 p. 19 par. 16 Practicing Pure Religion for Survival *** The “good news” that they preach is that shortly God’s immutable purpose will be accomplished. His will is going to be carried out, “as in heaven, also upon earth.” (Matthew 6:10) *** w81 8/1 p. 19 par. 15 A Field Producing Wheat and Weeds *** Wheat seed never transforms itself into weeds. This would be contrary to Jehovah’s immutable law: “Let the earth cause grass to shoot forth, vegetation bearing seed, fruit trees yielding fruit according to their kinds.” (Gen. 1:11, 12) *** w80 2/1 p. 4 The Power Behind the Universe—A Mysterious Force or a Real Person? *** The more scientists probe the universe, the atom and all forms of life, the more their studies reveal the beauty, the harmony and the complexity of all these things. The immensity and intricacy of the universe make men’s minds reel. But there is no effect without a cause. Behind all this beauty, this marvelous manifestation of wisdom and dynamic power, can you not “see” with “the eye of reason” the “invisible attributes” of the Great Maker? Obviously, the universe is governed by immutable laws. Does that not prove the existence of a Supreme Lawgiver? *** w76 9/15 p. 572 Hebrews: A Superior Worship and Its Requirements *** And what solid grounds we have for strong hope, for God not only gave us his word but also stepped in with an oath! By reason of these two immutable things we can have a hope that is like an anchor, both sure and steadfast. *** g 12/07 p. 7 Is Death Really the End? *** The fact that we have an inborn desire to live and an enormous capacity to learn leads to a logical conclusion: Humans are designed to live much longer than a mere 70 or 80 years. This, in turn, leads us to another conclusion: There must be a Designer, a Creator, a God. The immutable laws of the physical universe and the unfathomable complexity of life on earth fully support belief in the existence of a Creator *** g78 12/8 p. 11 Who Can Be Secure Today? *** Despite today’s pressing problems, Christians can look to the future with complete confidence. The future is secure, just as God’s purpose concerning it is immutable.

  16. Okay. I've been downhearted ever since I heard the 2016 WTL is not compatible with either my Dell desktop's XP operating system, or my new Mac Mini. When my copy of the CD-ROM came in a few weeks back, I asked the brother at the Literature counter to please give it to someone with the correct operating criteria. Today, he tells me that the new 2016 WTL CD-ROM works perfectly fine on Windows XP, and he handed my copy of the disc back to me. I got home and inserted the disc. It downloaded and installed PERFECTLY. I used it. It works PERFECTLY. So...is the feature that is not compatible with Windows XP the automatic updates part? I am sooooooooooooo confused. But also DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY!! Cuz I count on my WTL for research...a LOT.

  21. I also have 128 MicroSD and download everything to my tablet but use Chromecast to watch on my TV. However, I like to study from my laptop so having JW Library as well as WT Library all in one place would make things simpler for me. I just need a free emulator and have no idea of the best one to go with. Not quite that dark, though I remember those days. I was horrified when Windows came out. I actually enjoyed DOS.

    What is "Immutable"?

"Immutable" does sound as "that cannot be muted" but actually it is a word loaned from Latin. The Latin verb "mutare" means "to change", and the adjective "mutabilis" means "that can change". Therefore "immutable" is something that cannot change.

  28. Some people keep insisting that the "Mark of the Beast" in Revelation is going to be a literal mark. Back in the 90s it was believed this would be a tattooed bar code on the forehead or palm Nowadays it seems the idea is an RFID chip implanted. As technology has advanced, these ideas hae advanced Even some Witnesses are starting to promote this thinking as if that scripture in Revelation about the Mark of the Beast has not been fulfilled or completely fulfilled yet After all, here in the United States we don't need to use some literal mark of the beast or profess our allegiance to the government in order to buy or sell merchandise. Therefore, they conclude, there must be a later fulfillment. This thinking ignore the composite nature of the the book of Revelation The entire prophecy takes place since 1914 and it has the effect worldwide. The "mark of the beast" and the implanting in the palm and forehead has been visible since 1914. The mark is also visible worldwide, including those nations that lack electricity, computers, barcode readers or RFID detectors.

Who said it wouldn't work with XP? I know Sharli said it didn't work on hers and XP is not in the list of system "requirements", but it is always good to try it first before deciding that it won't work. There are many factors that will either allow or disallow a program to work on a particular version of the Windows OS. Sometimes you just need to try.

  33. Watchtower Library 2016 (and 2015) will run on XP, just not "supported". You be surprised how well Windows 10 runs on a old machine. I upgraded a 12 year old laptop with XP to Windows 10. You can try it for free for 30 days without a key.

  34. The announcement at our hall said that 2016 WT Library would not work on XP, and an older couple went out and bought a new computer, probably due to that. *facepaw* I mean, it'll probably run, but I'd guess it's just not supported. I'm going to help them set it up this week, but it makes me feel bad if they felt they had to upgrade to use it... granted, if you're still running XP, by now it's dreadfully slow or completely vulnerable to security threats. >_> Do you mean an android emulator? If your older PC is capable of running Bluestacks or an equivalent emulator, you can run Android apps on PC. Pretty much any Windows OS that is older than 7 should be converted to an Android or Linux variant OS for the sake of security and speed. ^^; My personal preference is running Remix OS or similar inside of a Virtual Machine, but that's a bit more technical..

    What is "Immutable"?

I had the same thought Sr. Fae. I looked up "UNmutable" thinking it might be this word (cannot mute). It simply says that this is an old and obsolete spelling of IMmutable. I looked up "un-mute" ant it says it means to restore sound. English is strange.

  43. I was preparing this weeks bible reading isa 59:1 and 15-17 shows that Jehovah sees all the injustice and on his set time he will act for his people in the meantime his hand is not to short to support all of us to endure witch trial we face ( isa 59:1 Look! The hand of Jehovah is not too short to save, Nor is his ear too dull to hear. isa 59:15-17 Truth has vanished, And anyone who turns away from bad is plundered. Jehovah saw this and was displeased, For there was no justice. 16 He saw that there was no man, And he was astonished that no one interceded, So his own arm brought about salvation, And his own righteousness supported him. 17 Then he put on righteousness like a coat of mail And the helmet of salvation on his head. He put on the garments of vengeance as his clothing And wrapped himself with zeal like a coat. 18 He will reward them for what they have done: Wrath to his adversaries, retribution to his enemies. And to the islands he will repay their due.)

    Potatoe Leak Soup

3 or 4 large size potatoe's, 2 medium size carrots, 2 leaks peel potatoes, wash and cut by 4 pieces. was carrots, peel, cut into 1 inch size cut up leak's, into 1 inch cuttings, put in water (sink or bowl) to get sand out. have a pot (half size) not to deep, add 1/2 amount of water into the pot. Start to cook at medium/high heat. Add potatoes, carrots and leaks. Stirring every so often. cook till you can put a knife or fork into the potatoes. stop the cooking, and hopefully some in here have a blender or kitchen aid blender or something like it. (Make sure your blender will not crack with hot liquid or food in it) scoop up potatoes, cut up carrots and leaks into the blender. Add some water, so it will not be to thick. grind or whip up the ingredients all together. If it looks to thick, add water from the pot you cook the three ingredients. Do not make it to runny. pour what you have in the blender or kitchen aid into a separate bowl. Stir it. continue process till the pot is empty of the potatoes, carrots and leaks. Left over water preserve in another container. grind or whip up smooth, and pour what is left into bowl. Stir with a whisk. Same pot, now with no more water in it, pour in the creamy soup, if it looks to THICK, add some of the water to it. Set to low/medium heat. Just for starters, you can add 3 bouillon chicken cubes. Stir with the whisk. Taste it. If not enough bouillon, then add another one, don't over kill it with bouillon. Taste it after stirring. If it looks to thick, then add a little more water. Do not over water it. You want it creamy. then when you get to the point where you think you like the taste, you add 1 small pint of heavy whipping cream carton (not can). Pour into the soupy mixture. Whisk it (stir) taste to see if it is okay with your taste buds. This is good to eat and it can last in frig for 1 week. Do not add any salt, or pepper. If you add onions, it may taste more like onion then leak, potato and carrot soup. If anyone else has something like it, please give us your recipes.
