Samira, The same thing i was told from Georgian brother I spoke yesterday. He told me that bruthers are invited to Georgia for the convention. He said that Georgian brothers are organising everything to accommodate Russian brothers in houses of Georgian brothers. This is not a little thing. Why? Because of political situation between them. The last time war took place in 2008 when Russian military went to north Georgia and destroyed everything and killed innocent civilians. For this reason and for the similar history in the past, Russians and Georgians do not particularly like each other but our Russian and Georgian brothers love each other! Few years back, when Georgian brothers were persecuted, Russian brothers were inviting Georgian brothers to Convention. But how's Now? Georgian brothers invite Russian brothers to accommodate them in their own homes in Georgia, showing true love and hospitality to Russian brothers. This fact will be great witness to all, especially for Georgian population including the orthodox Church members as they all will see the true brotherly love! (John 13:34,35). Where can we find such love between one and other? Nowhere! Only Jehovah's people have the genuine love to the neighbors and brothers.10 points

Thank you my dear brother. This is the only way I can enjoy the broadcast. I never understand more than 25% of it. My hearing is so bad that I just cannot get it. Your transcript makes me be a part of it.7 points -

I suggest we hold back on publishing info that that gives off strange odors. Our Russian page https://www.jw-russia.org/ Has nothing even indicating that such is a possibility let alone a fact at this point. Look at the section below this fake news at "What Others Are Reading." As you say looks queer. Smells bad. Again like I asked Loopy, where do you get these things? Do you make an effort to check this out before putting it on our plate?6 points

We have to be so careful with links to odd looking news websites and pasting in cribbed genuine news photographs, but are not related to the actual story they are peddling. If it isn't properly addressed, then it's trying to be something it isn't. If you've never heard of it, then it's likely not real. Hackers and malware pushers can use these sites to lure folk to click on them and then you could be a victim of the nasty ransom-ware/malware that is happening all over the World at the moment. Lot's of businesses here in UK, even small family businesses, have had their PC's overcome for ransom and even when they have paid the ransom, their PC's are not recovered or only partly recovered and the nasty people demand more money to release the PC, but the data may be lost if it's not backed up and the 'back up' unplugged from the on-line system. Take care and don't pass the dodgy links around either! Shame on the wicked people using the fate of our dear brothers and sisters in Russia as click bait!5 points

So, I was using this illustration in a car group (of all sisters) this week. I frequently have to do a wrap-around review with a Bible Student. I likened it to knitting vs crocheting. If we drop a stitch in knitting, we generally have to unravel and go back to correct the error. But in crocheting, we can pick up a stitch from a previous row and camouflage a dropped stitch. So with our Bible students, we have to figure out if they are like knitters or crocheters. Some of our students carefully add one topic on top of another and add to their Bible information Base, incrementally. Most students need some coaching to pick up a stitch from a previous row because some new thoughts are being introduced as prior topical studying may not have been fully integrated. Don't even get me started on tatting.5 points -

ab.cnews. Very suspicious. Looks like it is trying to be legit. This is bad stuff. A brother repeated a comment that was, "untrue" news at the WT study last week. My heart sunk. It was regarding Mr. Trump taking a stand against Russia because of what is going with us in Russia. I'm about to the point of not believing anything about this mess unless I see it on our web site. I still need to figure out how, and, if to tell the brother he had a bad news source. (?) Maybe I'll privately talk to the WT conductor. I saw him have that look on his face. Maybe he already did.4 points

The part that sounds fake to me is the statements saying that people from other Christian denominations would not stand by while our rights are infringed upon. Not impossible, but highly improbable and not likely. Sure, you will have individuals from other denominations come to our defense, but I don't believe members from other denominations have organized protests in our defense.4 points

Tatting? You do tatting?? I NEED to learn this! And tapestry, I need to do tapestry. I want to make all the covers for my dining room chairs. And a stretcher frame with a tapestry pattern in the center for window coverings instead of any blind or curtain. Oh not to mention quilting. I really need to learn to quilt. I have some specific simple patterns in my head, just can't get them out in fabric. Oh sorry, got carried away.3 points -

Actually none in the new world will be strangers. We'll all be one happy spiritual family...literally. All will be good associates. Yet another word/phrase that won't be in the new world: "that dog, cat, etc, attacked me." Oh! I thought of another one: "that sounds like a good home security system. Where did you buy yours?" "Does it really work for things are getting worse in this neighborhood."3 points

And now that I am studying our Sister's pix, I may have been doing that stitch correctly, when I tried it before. The points don't look a sharp as I thought they should be, after doing a row or two, but the final result really shows an obvious pattern. Hmm. Always learning. p.s. I think it's like the square A and square B thing. Hmm (cubed)3 points

Not exactly. "Backup" means making a copy to be used by the original program or application. "Export" means making the data available in a format that a different program or application can use. If our notes could be exported as txt, rtf, HTML, markdown, etc. they could be opened in a word processing application, or even sent as an email to someone who doesn't have JW Library installed.3 points

I think I will follow this written pattern. I frequently make them up as I go along. But I have tried the chevron, and one really needs to know when to change that stitch. My corners were not quite pointy. Thanks for the pattern. I think I will try one in a large sizer to learn to spot the stitch changes. I don't always count. (bad, bad). I do prefer crochet over knitting.3 points -

Lake Ontario Overflows its Banks. Massive Flooding
katielou and one other reacted to TrueTomHarley for a topic
There must be a scripture somewhere insulting the sea. If there is not, there should be. Rochester, my home town, is not on the sea and has no beef with it, but it sure does with the lake. Lake Ontario is a mini-sea in its own right. Along with the four other Great Lakes, it constitutes one fifth of the earth’s fresh water supply. People have built homes on the shores of the lake, figuring that where the lake is, the lake is. Why would you not? But this year, the lake level is two feet higher than normal. Imagine! The entire lake! Let some math nerd figure out the volume increase – it shouldn’t be hard. Actually, the idea appeals to me, except I’m lazy. Give it to some kid for homework or let him bring it to class for extra credit. When a boat sails by, those people on the shore sweat. They do so even more some when a wind kicks up. Even in calm times, the water is lapping up against their foundations. Their beach as disappeared and their decks are submerged. The beach about which I wrote “Horses in Water’ no longer exists. http://www.tomsheepandgoats.com/2006/09/horses_in_water.html The government is passing out sandbags and sand to fill them with. Volunteers appear to help the beach dwellers out. My experience is that sandbags are okay for a day or two or modest rise, but not for much else. The lake level is supposed to be high – it is still rising – all season. Why don’t they drain the lake? someone asks. Just open up the St. Lawrence river more and let that stuff drain out to the sea. Unfortunately, people live along the river, too. An entire city is there, Montreal Canada, and they are seriously flooded as it is. To drain 1 inch of water from Lake Ontario will result in a rise of 10 inches for Montreal and other river dwellers. “Go for it, anyway!” say the besieged lakeshore dwellers, but Canada says ‘no.’ They’re funny that way.2 points -

Totally agreed. Based on my experience in Indonesia when we were banned in mid 1970s till early 2000s, the instigators were Christendom churches. These churches are now concerned given the rise of hard line Islamic groups in Indonesia as they find it increasingly more difficult to build churches. However, their difficulties are nothing compared what the Witnesses endured during the ban period.2 points

License renewed and multiple upgrades coming
Ferb and one other reacted to Brother_Bliss for a topic
The administrators renewed our license today, so any features that may have been disabled should be functional again. With this license renewed, we will be installing the latest version of the software soon, probably late-night Eastern Time (GMT -4). We will post a site-wide announcement when this takes place so that everybody can save their work. In addition to this, the server's operating system reached End of Life a while ago, so we will be installing a new version of the OS very soon. However, we have to outsource this to our host's server management team. Unfortunately, we are unable to schedule it, because they work on a first come first serve basis. When they decide to tackle this, we will probably be offline and down for 30 minutes. We will try to see if we can get some sort of idea when this will happen (ish) so one of us can notify you. But if you find JWTalk unavailable, this will likely be the reason why. Additionally, we have received reports that many of you are getting messages saying that this site is not secure. This is true, HOWEVER, in the last few months there has been a big push to completely do away with http and force all sites to become https. Browsers have been doing this by giving warnings about unsecure pages, and Google is penalizing site search rankings for not being secure. Since we never collected credit card information directly here at JWTalk but used Paypal for donations, etc, it really hasn't been a big issue. But since this is the direction the internet is taking, we are looking into what it takes to get an SSL certificate, apply it to JWTalk, and make sure the site still functions afterwards. Those are just a few things taking place. Have a great day and keep posting in the spirit of Christian love. - The Staff2 points -

Monday, May 15 Stay far away from [the immoral woman]; do not go near the entrance of her house.—Prov. 5:8. The danger of disregarding this counsel is illustrated in Proverbs chapter 7, where we read about a young man who goes for a stroll near the house of an immoral woman. They engage in sexual immorality. If only he had stayed far away from her! (Prov. 7:6-27) Might we at times show a similar lack of good judgment, perhaps straying into dangerous situations that could awaken wrong desires? For example, at night, television networks may relax their restrictions on program content. What if we occasionally channel surf? Or perhaps we might aimlessly follow links on the Internet or frequent chat rooms and sites that carry invitations to view pornography or offer other sexual services. Could it be that in such circumstances we would be confronted with something that would arouse improper desires and undermine our fight to remain chaste? w15 6/15 3:8, 92 points -
One additional way to protect yourself besides virus and malware protection is to buy a separate drive and have your C drive cloned to it and then disconnect it from the computer. This protects all your installed programs and data from this type of attack as well as a drive dying on you. All you have to do is unplug the C drive and plug the cloned drive in it's place. (Best done by computer guru as config is necessary) The only thing you lose is what you put on the computer after cloning. It is best to reclone at lease once a year.2 points
