We went to a hotel on Pearl St NY and it was at the end of Brooklyn Bridge. We discovered it was right next-door to a Kingdom Hall - just off Chinatown, so covered Chinese and Spanish speaking congregations. Then we went into the Hotel and registered and followed the porter with our cases to the room. He crossed the room and opened the curtains and there was the building with the sign right across the water from us. Very comforting having that glowing through the window all day and night along with the time and temperature. Here's the view from the window: The brothers and sisters in the Kingdom Hall next-door to the Hotel were very welcoming when we popped in on their pre-ministry meeting. They were the Chinese congregation getting ready to go out round Manhattan's Chinatown.4 points -

This doesn't surprise me at all. I mean, well yeah it does because I didn't know of a "new" organ. But it doesn't surprise me because Jehovah is a God of purpose. Everything he created is for an exact purpose or purposes as in our mouth isn't just for eating, for example. It can eat, talk, express emotions, breath, (yes, as in breathing through your mouth) and the "etc" is for probably more than just mentioned but I just don't know what else.1 point

11 things people think are terrible for your diet that actually aren't
Thesauron reacted to hatcheckgirl for a topic
Gluten isn't bad if you don't have coeliac disease. I was told not to avoid gluten as it is a fad gimmick used by marketers. What gives that bloating feeling is not the gluten but the refined processing of the flour itself. Avoid white bread, eat multigrain bread instead, in moderation. Bloating is gone. You have to have a doctor establish whether you have coeliac disease, though many jump on the bandwagon thinking avoiding gluten will make them healthier.1 point -

11 things people think are terrible for your diet that actually aren't
normadenardo reacted to vern for a topic
carbonation isn't the issue its the fake sugar / highly processed sugars/ flavor technology and chemicals. Gluten isn't the issue its GMO and pesticides caffeine......... not sure why....lets just say some have alterior motives....others say coffee is good for antioxidants---- if your conscerned choose lighter roasts over darker ones. eggs.....not sure......its animal proteins and some have suggested 5% of diet of animal protein doesn't kick in cancer statistics...... scriptures says not to be a "glutton of meat"; how you define that is your meditation. (please don't negate the scripture using meat because that's what the scripture said specifically in comparison to wine...same issue moderation) Artificial sweeteners --- nuff said.... Cheese........ this is where the over processing comes in. If you have to cook the life out of something to make it not hurt you then something is wrong. organics and not made in America.... and not every day --- have a diary fasting period to clear it from your system; your sinuses will thank you. GMO's.......... the plant knows something is wrong and those DNA fragments do not stay in the genetic make up of the plant and the DNA moves around knowing its not suppose to be there.........from what I've read.......lots of other stuff has been said...........me i don't want it... thank you.. label it.... Fatty foods...... not sure what to think....... maby its a processing issue like some of the other things that shouldn't hurt you: what i can say is that my grandmother whom i took care of for three years with diabetes improved with eating less or no refined oils. nothing else helped her sugar levels more then lessoning the fat load..... blocks up the cells from being able to let surger in; thus the over production of insulin. type 2 diabetes; and womens issues with insulin resistance and hormone issues...... imagine men have some kind of hormone issues too.... carbs.......... all plants are carbs.......... its a misunderstanding of how diabetes works: the issues to complicated; but again; over processed carbs like white flour/ table surgar/ etc etc / white rice/ ; carbs without the natural fibers.... overmilled. scripture says "bread that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice" so i doubt carbs is an issue in themselfes.... Fish........ problem with fish is the toxins/radiation/mercury/metals/ they are absorbing from the unclean oceans... I'm not sure the protein make up of it; if its an animal type of protein that should be in the 5% range of diet... Salt: again its a processing issue; table salt is fake Lab produced "salt" ; what you want is sea salt; preferably sun dried....1 point -

I just did a 10 sceond search and didn't come up with statistics myself. Wonder if there is any valid statistics, wouldn't think so since the Pope seems to be against having actively gay priest? I did find this article that appears to be from a gay site: http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2017/04/20/how_the_catholic_priesthood_became_a_haven_for_many_gay_men.html So how many gay priests actually exist? While there’s a glut of homoerotic writings from priests going back to the Middle Ages, obtaining an accurate count is tough. But most surveys (which, due to the sensitivity of the subject, admiittedly suffer from limited samples and other design issues) find between 15 percent and 50 percent of U.S. priests are gay, which is much greater than the 3.8 percent of people who identify as LGBTQ in the general population. In the last half century there’s also been an increased “gaying of the priesthood” in the West. Throughout the 1970s, several hundred men left the priesthood each year, many of them for marriage. As straight priests left the church for domestic bliss, the proportion of remaining priests who were gay grew. In a survey of several thousand priests in the U.S., the Los Angeles Times found that 28 percent of priests between the ages of 46 and 55 reported that they were gay. This statistic was higher than the percentages found in other age brackets and reflected the outflow of straight priests throughout the 1970s and ’80s. The high number of gay priests also became evident in the 1980s, when the priesthood was hit hard by the AIDS crisis that was afflicting the gay community. The Kansas City Star estimated that at least 300 U.S. priestssuffered AIDS-related deaths between the mid-1980s and 1999. The Star concluded that priests were about twice as likely as other adult men to die from AIDS.1 point

Each human on earth suffers due to our inherent imperfection, therefore we are all 'sick' in the flesh, in the mind, in our souls. However, in the new system, initially we'll go to bed feeling unwell, we can look forward to each new morning, feeling better and better! In addition, those we've lost to the enemy death will be resurrected in a new body where imperfection in a physical sense won't reside again. Then it's our privilege (those of us who survive the system's end) to teach these ones about what we've experienced and how they can join us for evermore.1 point -

This is going to leave such a stench on the church. We recently had our census results showing for the first time there are more people answering "No Religion" than religious people. So more people here are viewing religion as no part of their lives anymore. This will have a huge bearing on those left still clinging to some sort of religion, especially those who are still catholic.1 point -
Same problem with the Dutch one. If I remember correctly the Spanish, Dutch and some other translations were released at the same time, right? It was a literal translation of the English one, and difficult to read. Also a lot of the citations in Dutch publications were from other bible translations. But we now have the NWT; really, it is completely different, and they did the translation work in quite a short time. Conclusion: I have good hope for the Spanish translation. You will have it very soon, and it will be in the language of your heart[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4] Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G903F met Tapatalk1 point

katielou reacted to GrumpysWife for a topic
Friday, June 30 No resident will say: “I am sick.”—Isa. 33:24. There is no doubt that God has the power to affect someone’s health. The Bible confirms that. At times, he punished individuals with sickness, such as the Pharaoh in Abraham’s day and later Moses’ sister, Miriam. (Gen. 12:17; Num. 12:9, 10; 2 Sam. 24:15) God warned that if the Israelites proved unfaithful, he would afflict them with “every sickness or plague.” (Deut. 28:58-61) On the other hand, Jehovah could remove diseases or prevent sickness. (Ex. 23:25; Deut. 7:15) Also, he could heal people. After Job had been so sick that he longed to die, God healed him! (Job 2:7; 3:11-13; 42:10, 16) Yes, God definitely has the power to intervene and heal a sick person. It is similar with his Son. We read that Jesus miraculously cured lepers, epileptics, and blind or paralyzed ones. (Matt. 4:23, 24; John 9:1-7) How strengthening it is to think that the healings Jesus performed are a foregleam of what he will do on a grand scale in the new world. w15 12/15 4:3, 41 point -

Love these pic's Ross. I long for the day when I can stand in a waterfall and bask in the warm sun. I was raised in Jewell, Oregon. http://www.vannattabros.com/geo10.html We had a creek behind our house that had 3 swimming holes, and a rapids down from the house. Those were the days. Quite the historic old town. In the link you'll see the store and hotel. The store was still there when I was a child, rebuilt some years before by Mrs. Meyers and her husband and 2 sons. When I was young Mrs. Meyers had died and the two sons, Loggers, just closed it up with all the stuff still inside. Shame. Stayed that way for decades, think it's still there under all the over-growth. One of the son's is still alive, in his 90's I believe. Then the pool hall became the Jewell Tavern. Boy that place had quite the reputation! Every year it slid just a little further toward the creek behind it and there was a bet as to how long it'd take till it fell in! I guess it finally was torn down before it fell in. The Jewell garage was just across the street and was still standing when I rode my bike past it in 1974-77. There was a road next to the garage, just a few feet down that road, on the left, was the road to the pioneer cemetery, my place of refuge as a child of not-so-good parents. Had a beautiful huge oak tree where all the babies and children were buried. Ahh, nostalgia.1 point -
