  3. Really enjoyed the video Knock Knock. The brother with the straw hat reminded me of actor Harold Lloyd. He was a comic back in his day. Very well done. And the brother who wrote the new song, very well done.

  4. Johan, I think there is a misunderstanding here. Yes, the law has the concept of private copy that applies in some cases and not in others. But I was not talking about the law. I quoted the Watchtower Library License Agreement itself, that says "You may transfer the Product to another party who is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses who agrees to be bound by the terms of this Agreement." If the product owner, which is the organization, allows sharing the files with other Christians, without specifying whether by means of a DVD, an USB pendrive or through a download, as you said elsewhere it's not cool to make rules where there are none. The purpose of the copyright on Watchtower Library is to prevent distribution to non-Witnesses as well as distribution of tampered with copies, not to prevent Christians to have a copy of the software. That wouldn't make sense.

    "Flee" by Ek Jonathan

This book does not disappoint, that's for sure and the premise is spot on. (I'm mid-way through the novel and I already have a "favorite character".) However, there should be another disclaimer at the beginning such as: "Please be careful: this novel may be hazardous to your health. You may inadvertently loose sleep reading this book until the wee hours of the morning. Also, the contents may make you skip a heartbeat, gasp, or will make you hold your breath in certain areas!" On with the reading!

  7. This was so great to see on JW.org just now....& I feel privileged to be a small part of it! I helped out on cleaning up the site of litter & contamination for a good 9/10months- then helped the decorating team paint some of the temporary structures for at least another 6/7 months- & now I have a cleaner assignment!! I'm hairdressing there every week!! & a great bonus is I get to chat to loads of brothers & sisters that worked on the Warwick project....what a great interchange of encouragement it's been & still is.

  8. Even the music in the film was good. It sounded just like a old non talkie from the 1920's. But the car he had looked like it was from the 1930's. Nah, not Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, with the glasses and the hat, his mannerism was just like the original actor. Charlie Chaplin, did more of the Little Tramp character. He didn't remind me of the Little Tramp. Whatever friends, this video the F&DS put out for September is just fantastic! I have already seen it several times and in different languages. Just sitting back and enjoying this instead of hearing and watching news about Satan's/Demons expressions - N.K. nuking USA, China, Russia, etc.

  9. Lyrics courtesy of Brother Chew's handy dandy transcript: Let’s Take the Leap JW Broadcasting—September 2017 To serve full-time, that’s been our goal. It opens up more ways to serve whole-souled. So if not now and if not here, This chance might slip away and disappear. Let’s take the leap; Let’s not hold back. Let’s not give in to doubt; Let’s not miss out. We’ll go in faith, Not looking back, not behind. Let’s look ahead With peace of mind. Jehovah knows; Jehovah sees. Before we ask, He knows the needs of each. Though it might seem beyond our reach, Let’s put our trust in him and take the leap. Let’s take the leap; Let’s not hold back. Let’s not give in to doubt; Let’s not miss out. We’ll go in faith, not looking back, not behind. Let’s look ahead with peace of mind. So let’s go through this open door. Things left behind will be replaced and more, Not only now but all that God has in store— The life to come forevermore. Let’s take the leap; Let’s not hold back. Let’s not give in to doubt; Let’s not miss out. We’ll go in faith, not looking back and not behind. Let’s look ahead with peace of mind. Let’s take the leap; Let’s not hold back. Let’s not give in to doubt; Let’s not miss out. We’ll go in faith, not looking back and not behind. Let’s look ahead with peace of mind. Let’s take the leap. Lyrics to all Original JW Broadcast Songs Oct. 2014 through Sept. 2017

  11. This is a very good story. I'm almost halfway through. One thing I really, really liked was: Absolutely loved the idea of the World's Fair. Also, what is it about the appeal of airships? Blimps? Dirigibles? Zeppelins? Both our own Tom Walker and EK Jonathan had airships as a main feature in New World mass transit. I can't remember if I was inspired by Jonathan's books or if I came about the idea independently, but I also imagined this as a very real idea.

Its very scary though, the FS knew what they were doing when we got the direction to prepare 'go bags'....Jehovah always prepares us ahead of time....:-)

  14. The terms of a copyright are defined by the holder of the copyright, not the government, and the branch has said it's acceptable to make copies for others via any convenient medium. A lesser-known aspect of copyright law is the fact that copyrighted movies distributed for personal viewing cannot be shown to large groups, or in facilities where the public may attend. That would make every midweek meeting a clear violation of copyright law, if not for the fact that the copyright holder, the branch, has given us clear permission to do so, just as they have given us permission to redistribute the Watchtower Library software. The government does give guidelines that are followed legally in absence of any clear license or permission from the copyright holder, but they cannot invalidate permission given by the copyright holder and declare WTL copies and midweek meeting videos to be illegal.

  23. This is a pic MH took this morning from his danglehead. We aren't close to all the fires in Oregon and Washington that are devastating the forests but the smoke has come all the way to the ocean. All morning the sunlight looks orange/reddish. Doesn't smell like smoke but you can sure see it. And it's so calm today, not a breath of wind.

  27. So the elderly sister in a nursing home with an old hand-me-down netbook should spend hundreds of dollars she doesn't have upgrading to something with a DVD drive? The copy of WTL I'm using right now was received via email from the CO. In my new hall (different CO) the software can be requested via DVD through the regular shipment, or publishers can leave their email or a thumb drive with the literature servant and get a copy of the DVD on a different medium. According to the SO, this arrangement was suggested by the CO last year.

  28. Tuesday, September 5 Scrolls were opened.—Rev. 20:12. The Bible informs us that scrolls will be opened to give us directions in new world living. By studying these, all people, including resurrected ones, will be able to know God’s will for them. These scrolls will surely give us further insight into Jehovah’s mind. Guided by an ever-increasing understanding of God’s inspired Word along with what will be revealed in the new scrolls, inhabitants of the earthly Paradise will certainly treat their fellow man with love, respect, and dignity. (Isa. 26:9) Imagine the educational program that will be carried out under the direction of the King, Jesus Christ! Everlasting life awaits those who respond favorably to the “things written in the scrolls.” Those who maintain integrity to God through the final test will have their name written permanently by Jehovah in “the scroll of life.” That can be our lot! w16.03 4:19, 20

  35. Multiple COs have given that permission, and since they are directly appointed representatives of the Governing Body, I think their word carries some weight. If you would like to hear the directions from a neutral source, you can call the branch at 1-845-744-6000. The lines are still open until 30 minutes from the time of this post, so you should have plenty of time to get a clear answer.

  47. When Sandy was coming along the Eastern sea board, I kept my eye on the weather channel. So when it looked apparent that it was headed up my way, I went out a couple of days before it hit, and got necessary things for just in case it would drag out and destruction of some kind would happen. Got some non perishable things, my emergency nap sack, medications, ins. papers, a couple of dollars, and went in-land as far as I could to get away from the bay (Chesapeake Bay, MD) where the waters would surge over the shores and houses down along the stretch of the shore line. I didn't want to go alone, so I invited friends and made provisions for those who had a harder time (health issues) then myself to escape from the danger. For those who couldn't leave, (like those in nursing homes, or paralyzed in bed or in wheelchairs and other illnesses where they could not be moved) I prayed for them to make it through the storm. (Proverbs 22:3) . . . The shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself, But the inexperienced keep right on going and suffer the consequences. . .
