  1. Thanks Brother Enoch! That was such an encouraging article, here are a few quotes that I really liked, 1 made me laugh and 1 made me have tears(tears of surprise at the outstanding kindness and generosity that was shown to Brother Herd and his wife) Wow, what that sister did touched my heart!

  4. I found out this morning that a brother in my congregation knew Brother Christensen in Denmark. Here's what he wrote to me: The brother also gave me permission to share the address with other brothers and sisters who might be interested in providing some much needed encouragement to Dennis. I am assuming the Russian authorities do not censor his mail but may inspect it before giving it to him. Send me a PM if you would like to write to him.

  5. That's what I thought. Is this going to be another letter-writing campaign? The only difference is that all the letters will be addressed to one person. But... just think of the encouragement...!

Plain out encouragement of ancestor worship and idolatry. But I also feel so sorry for those in there who have a clear spiritual need and connection to Jehovah.

  9. Just a little update on this. Frank went to Lew's landing Monday and Lew told him I was a sister. Frank was so happy, said he's been wearing the pin for a long time and Lew was the 4th person to identify with it. Tonight Frank called Lew about something for work. I was doing laundry and heard the very last of the conversation before they hung up. I asked if I could call Frank back. Lew doesn't like to combine work and personal stuff but I said "He's my brother!" I think I made him feel guilty. So he let me call him back. We, Frank and his wife Cheryl (!!! ya Cheryl, go figger) and I had a great 10 minute conversation. They were getting ready for meeting. They are so sweet! He said he's going to keep witnessing to Lew, maybe....just maybe. I said go for it. (Lew heard me) They're in a local congregation just West of Aberdeen, WA. So glad to talk with them.

Pretty awesome though... the translating abilities! Where was that when I was in school? and YES... Can you imagine!!? hundreds of letters ...

  14. I would LOVE to write a letter to Bro. Christensen and his wife. But I have reservations about the accuracy of Google's software. (Based on experience.) I would feel comfortable sending my letter to a local Russian congregation here (there are several in the U.S.) and kindly ask someone to translate it for me. (No longer than a page, of course.) I'll have to give this some thoughtful prayer.

  15. That group has been around for a while. They seem to get all bent out of shape whenever religion or belief in God is mentioned by someone, or especially if some government gives a grant to some religious group, and sue the individuals responsible. Oftentimes they win in court. Next they will likely start demanding that all people should be free from religion and start suing anyone who believes in God. Will they have something to do with Gog of Magog's attack on false religion? Time will tell.

  19. Brother Morris mentioned Dennis Christensen in a talk today, since his parents and siblings live right near the Scandinavian branch office. Brother Christensen is enduring in a biblical sense. He highlighted in a talk about endurance the need to not flee from our trials. Ex., if we do not get along with someone or have been treated badly by a certain someone, we do not change congregations. We endure, we do not flee from our trials. Just like brother Christensen. He also mentioned him by name in the finishing prayer. Brother Morris mentioned Dennis Christensen in a talk today, since his parents and siblings live right near the Scandinavian branch office. Wt library 1702 update

You had said previously that "my disk is not full" so I assumed you had checked how much space you have available. The video file that causes the exception is 65mb in size and may be the first file of substantial size that will be installed during the update. IF the install program checks your available free space at that point and determines there is not enough room for the entire 1.3GB to complete the install, this could be the issue as Stavro says. Please let us know what happens when you try to install to a different drive or free up space on your system (C) drive. When you can, of course.

  25. I'm curious what sort of people walk in those churches. Cause the bible isn't hard to read. The scriptures are very clear and could be understand very clear. DEUTERONOMY 4:15-19 15 “Therefore, watch yourselves closely—since you did not see any form on the day Jehovah spoke to you in Hoʹreb out of the middle of the fire— 16 that you may not act corruptly by making for yourselves any carved image having the form of any symbol, the representation of male or female, 17 the representation of any animal on the earth or the representation of any bird that flies in the sky, 18 the representation of anything creeping on the ground or the representation of any fish in the waters under the earth. 19 And when you raise your eyes to the heavens and see the sun and the moon and the stars—all the army of the heavens—do not get seduced and bow down to them and serve them. Jehovah your God has given them to all the peoples under the whole heavens. EXODUS 20:3 3 You must not have any other gods besides me. These people are attracted by rituals and are like the Pharisees that where only asking over and over for signs before they would believe in Christ. When there's no religion left, and we will go on to search for good hearted people, then they must show their true face and accept the truth or turn their back to the religion. These rituals are disgusting.

  26. Yep. I saw people lined up to see this severed arm. Disgusting. How did it come to this? They go onto something about layers of holiness, or some such thing. It’s revolting. There they were, lined up to see a cut off hand, crossing themselves, touching the glass, and moving on. Grown, responsible people. (Well, sort of) Can you imagine? And, Jehovah has to see this. The end is coming!

    Wt library 1702 update

From this line of the log, it seems that there's not enough room on your hard drive to apply the update. If you have a secondary hard drive or thumb drive with more than ~10GB free you should be able to reinstall WT Library there and get the updates just fine, otherwise you may need to clear out some older programs/files to free up enough space.

    Wt library 1702 update

Interesting. It appears that the problem start at this point: "01-02-2018 21-36-22-36M: A file exception occurred for file C:\Program Files\Watchtower\Watchtower Library\E\rs_data_indexing\PUBS\NWTSTY_E\MEDIA\nwtsv_E_270_r720P.mp4" It's as if the video file is corrupt. Not sure what you could do about it except maybe to try deleting that file before applying the update? I'm not recommending this, just throwing it out there. Hopefully someone else will get an idea from this log file.

  32. Like the text said, Jehovah does not expect us to renounce our culture. That's what makes being in the truth so amazing - learning and living side by side with all the diversity of cultures that make up the human race. It makes our lives so much more interesting and fulfilling. Sometimes challenging too, which is why we have a nice reminder in today's text. Because pride is at the cause of all these challenging situations when we are rubbed up the wrong way (be it due to cultural differences or any other issues that come up). Which is why Phil 2:3 comes in handy to smooth over issues and dampen undue pride.

  38. Hi Greg, Here are a couple of ideas you might like for exercise. > FUN I find the best motivation for exercise is doing some form of exercise that is fun! So running or lifting weights I don't consider fun, but I love tennis and other sports. And so when I am playing tennis or basketball or soccer, I don't think of myself as "exercising" but instead just having a good time. The drawback is that you have to have some brothers to play with in these sports. So what I did was make a list of brothers from various congregations who like to play certain sports and then I call them and make plans. So an example of a schedule is playing tennis 1-2x during the week and then a game of basketball or some other sport on the weekend, this helps to give me exercise 2-3x a week. Plus I am having "fun" and enjoying the time with my brothers! > Combine Exercise with your Hobby But sometimes there is no one available to play sports with, so here is another idea. Since you love photography, what if you could combine this with exercise? Here is what I mean. You must live up to your name "GregEXPLORE", so if you were to go exploring with a "Road Bike" or "Mountain Bike" you would find that you would be exercising for several hours as you "explore" for good photography spots and also you can look out for some wildlife while biking. And when you find a good photo spot or see some cool wildlife, then you can take a break and take your camera out of your backpack and then enjoy your photography! Then when finished, pack up and go be GregEXPLORE some more! Or head home if you are tired. I have a "Road Bike" and I am surprised how many miles I have been able to go and how it strengthens my legs and helps me get more exercise than I would normally since I am having "fun" because I am exploring rather than doing some boring form of exercise. So go explore Greg!

  43. The ol' puppet master, he thinks he's something, showing people what he thinks they want to see, tickling some ears as he goes.. In a number of ways I respect him, or, at least, his abilities. That might not be, probably isn't, the right way to say that but I don't have better words right now. I don't condone his actions but he is an interesting person to watch. He is a very intelligent man and puts on a very complicated bit of theater. He had a lot of training in a lot of ways, mentally and physically. And, I suppose, a degree of some sort in Political Intrigue/Theater Arts.(P.I.T.A.) He was presented as a Major in the KGB, has been in the political arena (circus?) for many years, has no doubt done some fairly rough things. And he's still alive. A lot of his opponents are not. There are some things that he alludes to, in those articles, that are easy to follow. His comparison of Lenins tomb to the Basilica is a nice bit of sarcasm, his blaming Lenin for the eventual collapse of the U.S.S.R. is curious, I wonder where all that's headed...? I have long felt, and tried to explain to some friends at times, that socialism does resemble Christianity, in a twisted sort of way, that there are elements of both that cross back and forth. I usually get funny looks. I try to make the point that the thought or concept of 'all for one', 'all are equals', 'everyone has what he needs' bla bla, yada yada, sounds like a sweet plan, right? The problem is when you have man ruling man and some pigs are more equal than other pigs. Then socialism turns into communism and that ain't no good. It just demonstrates the need for the incoming Theocracy very ....um, ..vividly? It can certainly be garish at times. It's fascinating watching the wreck of this system crashing down. I sure hope I'm around for the Final Act....

I'm not a MAC user but a brother who uses High Sierra said this solved the problem. I'm just hoping this may be of benefit to any who are trying out High Sierra. Right-click the WT Library file from the Applications folder. And you open a menu and choose Show Package Content and click Wineskin. From the menu, click on Set Screen Options and deselect Auto Detect GPU and Use Direct3D Boost and click Done.

Where can you find such unity and faith as it is between us? There is no better privilege on earth then to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, especially this time, as we are approaching the end of this system of things. Thank you to all brothers who prepared the JW Broadcast for us.

  48. I had no idea what to cook tonight (this thread is very inspirational!), so when I looked into my fridge and pantry, I made this: Lentil soup with Chorizo, and freshly baked quick bread Puy French lentils - cooks quickly and no soaking, about 20 mins Chopped onion and garlic Chopped celery and carrot Saute all ingredients in olive oil for about 6 mins or so Add chopped chorizo, saute until crispy Add 250mls or more of chicken stock Bring to the boil, then simmer until cooked - 30-40 mins or so (season with fresh herbs and salt/pepper, careful with adding too much salt because chorizo is salty) Meanwhile, make the bread - it's a quick bread, no yeast 2 cups plain flour 1 tbls baking powder salt butter milk Rub butter onto pan, put in hot oven (250C) Mix all other ingredients until dough resembles pancake mix Pour into loaf dish/pan and bake around 20 mins or so This bread didn't quite turn out as good as I expected, but it was a first try. Maybe you can share a better recipe here! But the fresh bread went very well with the hearty soup. Voila!
