That is a good question, @Shannie The anointed have a different hope, but aside of that they are as imperfect as we are and with the same weaknesses and shortcomings. Some struggle with immoral desires or with materialism, some are afraid of man, some are stressed due to bad health or the problems of life, some fight negative feelings and often think they won't make it... Exactly like those of the other sheep. Satan takes advantage of those weaknesses the same as he does with us. But he has a special hatred of the anointed, since they are the ones who will "crush" his head. So he makes even more efforts to influence them.6 points

We have a few sisters that drive the forklifts at the warehouse - my daughter is making room for forklift in her schedule and she should be receiving her invitation - perhaps by next week. The first thing the Elder who oversees the warehouse asks when someone inquires about working at the warehouse - Is you DC-50 current and have you included this skill on it?5 points

NEW VIDEO : David Schafer- Survive the Great Day (Rev. 16:16)
ExquisitePeace and 3 others reacted to Cushi for a topic
Yes, it does. There’s at least two places within the same chapter that do. The first occurrence is often taken out of context, but the second is to be taken literally. The first is at surah 6:5, which says: “but when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” - translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. When read in its proper context, this scripture is only talking about the tribes who continued hostilities against Muslims even after they migrated. Also, a reference is made to the 5 tribes that did not honor the treaties they made with Muslims. But the scripture that does incite violence to nonbelievers is verse 29 of surah 6, which says: “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the people of the book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” The next verse justifies why they can do this because it says that anyone who even says that Jesus is the son of God is “cursed” by Allah. The Quran is also very anti-Semitic and says that Jews are cursed and even quotes Allah calling them “apes and pigs” numerous times and says that they will be turned into such. I really found it to be an incredibly boring book. The only parts I found interesting were the many verses that are plagiarized from the Bible. The Bible has practical advise on how to have a successful marriage and raise children. It has prophecy, accurate chronology, genealogy and history, wisdom, beauty in the psalms, poetry and much more. I didn’t get any of that from the Quran. Just a bunch of praises to Allah.4 points -
It was so nice reading this item on jw.org especially as I know all the sisters personally. It’s an understatement that they work hard! I saw many tears from these sisters interviewed, saying they didn’t know if they could get the hang of operating heavy machinery or have the skills needed! Sometimes even getting stuck in the mud! But with much training & encouragement they became excellent operators. I feel privileged to have been able to work alongside many of our lovely sisters. :-) I also wanted to learn to operate heavy machinery until they nabbed me for my hairdressing skills!! Hehe!! :-)4 points

I see your point brother. Yet, there are many of Jehovah's people who are living under ban in the majority of Muslim-dominated countries, as well as in China, Singapore, Russia, Eritrea, etc. No doubt that our loving Creator and His glorious Son will take care of his faithful servants during those momentous times. For now, they are compelled to be "cautious as serpents yet innocent as doves." We pray for them also and they, too, pray for us!4 points

Yes! That hailstone message talk will be exciting won't it? I'm looking forward to that symposium very much along with the other subjects including the Cry of Peace and Security, The Great Tribulation, The Attack of Gog of Magog, Armageddon, The Restoration and The Final Test. In all my days in the truth I've never seen a line up quite like that. I guess these will answer all your questions plus many more in other threads - and will elaborate on comments made in talks in the AGM, Broadcastings and morning worships. It's almost like we getting tasters at the moment. Can't wait.4 points -
Brother Schaffer actually gives us the answer to this in his talk, which was so loaded that it may be necessary to listen to it a few times. I definitely had to.. Listen for the part about the wonders that the magic practicing priests were able to pull off. Satan can perform signs to make people think that there is real peace. It was even mentioned that perhaps this could be made to look like God is backing it. Whatever will happen is going to look real convincing, so those not fully awake could begin to believe what they see is real.4 points

This video falls into the Essential Teachings category. All those videos are linked in with the Good News from God brochure. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/good-news-from-god/ Its a question we know the answer to, but to explain the answer to someone in a few minutes is a challenge. This video really gives the answer in a short time. Then hopefully you can return and start a study in the Good News brochure.4 points -

Saffron, thank you for mentioning Br. Schafer's talk. I went back and listened to it again. Am excited, but also must watch out. Remember he said the demons with Satan, might make it seem that God is backing their plans with some sort of trickery, like the example he gave of Moses and the rod, where the magic practicing priests used as well turning their rods into snakes too. There is more to this then story, I watched the president's talking to the press, he couldn't say that this might lead up to peace & security, but he just used the word peace. We are as Br. Schafer put it, on the cusp of the G.T. and into Armagadden. Again, we do our work but also remain awake. Wow, am impressed with prophecy being fulfilled before our very eyes. Again, lets see where this goes and how Satan, will fool the world (who he controls) into thinking humans can achieve P&S by themselves.4 points -

Yes - DC-50 has been in for over a year and a half... was part of RBC since 2008 - never been called to do anything. I didn't put those skills on because I do not have those skills. I can paint. I can sing. I can manage projects. I took drafting in middle school (in 1979). I can run a spectacular office (administrative skillz thru the roof!). I didn't see a spot to list things a person would like to *learn* how to do... I'm unclear as to exactly what sort of skills are needed/would be recruited for. In my area, all the sisters who do the cool (or even uncool things) with any regularity are the wives of the brothers who are in heavy demand. Not many single sisters... especially not of my age bracket I suppose that if Jehovah sees fit for me to expand my service in this way, He'll see to it. Or not  Here I am -- I'm sendable, regardless.3 points -

Interesting. I finished reading the Quran about a month ago and it was a real eye opener to what they believe. They believe the end won’t come until at least 10 things happen. One of them being that the sun will be rising in the west and setting in the east. Unlike us, they don’t believe all the signs (the ones they teach) of the last days have been fulfilled yet. They are waiting on things that will never happen and the end will catch them off guard. I’ve always imagined that they will have the most extreme reaction to the destruction of their religion. I especially feel this way after reading a certain verse in the Quran.3 points -

Yeah, that’s why in Revelation after his casting from heaven, he waged war with the remaining ones (anointed). Is there any wonder why his attacks, in 1918 especially, where directed at the then Sociey Directors? That special hatred was almost immediately displayed.3 points

Can you buy Huawei tablets in the US? My current tablet is a Huawei MediaPad M2 10 inch, and the loadspeakers are really loud and sound quality is quite good too. With this tablet I can show videos at a door and even in the street and they can be heard without problem. Besides, its performance is more than enough for JW Library and every app I use. There is more recent model, the MediaPad M3, that is quite similar but with better specifications. And regarding price it's in the mid range.3 points

A brother and I were chatting about how many brothers and sisters today have learned basic programming skills, and ten times as many witnesses use software daily (for example, this very moment you are using Invision Community software which is powering JWTalk.net, which is serving up this content to you to read!) Given these two trends, which appear to be only accelerating rather than going away any time soon, we've been wondering if any other witnesses either on this forum or whom any forum members might know from other online communities, social networks (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) or in real life, who may want to collaborate in large numbers to develop software that can assist or even solve common challenges that witnesses might be confronted with, especially in their use of technology today. For example, when I was regular pioneering I tested multiple service apps, and even collaborated with the developers (brothers) who had published these apps, in order to adapt them to the specific needs of pioneers (who juggle large numbers of RV's, studies, and things such as hour counting both in the ministry and in other special forms of service). As is often the case, the needs of the users sometimes fall out of line a bit with what the coders think users need (or design interfaces with a specific purpose in mind, when the users tend to use their software tool in a way not originally foreseen, but immensely desirably). I have searched around a bit and have found a few 'JW apps' which appear to already have adopted the open source model, according to this search on OpenHub.net. I may also reach out to the developers of apps I have used in the past to gauge any interest (programmers tend to be less... shall we say social, and are not necessarily the type of person to be browsing a large social media / forum site such as this one. So please consider sharing this thread with witnesses who may be interested in this idea who are outside of the forum, especially!) If any of our forum members here know of any witnesses who are interested in this idea of open-source collaboration but are not inclined to join our forum, please PM me! I will be happy to provide my email or other contact information for you to forward to these ones in order to get the ball rolling. -- Brandon P.S. feel free to copy the text of this post and email or send it out to any brothers or sisters you want to. Even with half the human population now online, the internet is still a pretty fractured place with regards communication, but we're trying to get the word out to as many witnesses as we can with these ideas!2 points

Well it's signed now. Fortunately, he exempted Mexico and Canada as they are the largest import source of these, but we can be sure that inflation will take off. It won't be like Venezuela, but it will start going up faster than it has over the last decade. Then the Fed will raise rates faster to keep up. That's good for savers and saving accounts (and bad for those with 401ks), and bad for any who have to buy stuff - especially homes. Just another thought - it's also good news that the economy won't take off too fast - even with the trillion dollars added to it thru the tax cuts. But bad news that the government programs will be short by a trillion and with nothing really to show for it. Well, let's watch and see what happens and keep praying for the only solution - the Kingdom.2 points

Our oldest fur baby has a new trick. We will turn on one of the bath faucets to a slow drip so she will drink, that's something my wife started years ago. Recently the cat has decided to let the water drip on the back of her head and then jump in my lap so I can wipe the water off her head! If she decides that she isn't getting a good head rub, she'll go soak her head and make me do it again!2 points

Sr. Alexa, as Sr. Ross said it is the Greek word used in the original writings of the apostles. Greek "Logos" is translated into English as the title "Word" meaning that he spoke for or transmitted the message of God. Jesus is God's 'spokesman'. Incidentally, we use the word "logo" today to mean a 'word' or 'symbol' that represents a company or product. That symbol or Logo speaks for the company and tells us who they are (like the letters "IBM" tells us that it is the International Business Machine company).2 points -
