  1. As I watch my mom, now 71, slowly be crippled with arthritis and her legs bo and toes twist I feel the same way "Yes, I am coming quickly.'" "Amen! Come, Lord Jesus." Then, a few nights ago, I was at mom's and we we're talking about this and she says, " I saw the video - the one they played at this week's CL&M meeting - and watched that lady dance as she learned about the resurrection and that she'd she her husband again. And I think, I can wait a little longer. When I hurt, I am just going to remember her dancing. ". I just love that little mom of mine. I too am working on remembering the dancing. And trusting that Jah knows the best time that helps the most people and He can fix anything. So, I can wait patiently and stay busy.

  2. My grandpa and grandma began as colporteurs in the 1930's and now both in their late 80's are wishing that this will be the last memorial they get to go. Grandpa always says he wants to see the start of the GT before he dies. I pray for his wish to be fulfilled every single day... Hope this system winds up soon.

  3. Of course this is the case. But... Many of us are tired; some feel like they are drowning in problems. Why not focus on the only thing that will bring everyone relief? While I'd love to sit here and tell you how I would happily be doing this or that if this system dragged on for 10 more years, I can't. Of course I serve Jehovah out of love and will stay faithful regardless, but find it impossible at this point to even think 5 years into the future here without sinking into a paralyzing depression. I have to focus on this day, this week, this memorial. When this has passed, I will perhaps focus on the convention. Bits and pieces is all I can do to keep going and to stay awake.. I may be in the minority here, but don't think I am the only one. I am happy for people who, without much difficulty, can think many years into the future on this side. Wish I was one of them.

  4. I was just telling my friend I can see everything going opposite soon. Ex : A group of youths at school asks the youth what gender do you identify as and the JW witness explains their straight. Everyone gasps and says you're straight are you serious?! Instead of it being gay/bi people, straight people will soon be the ones treated as outcasts lol

  6. No sis, I don't think you're in the minority. Keeping our integrity is easier if we break it down into smaller do-able chunks. One day at a time, like Jesus said. And I think we are all tired. While at the same time, we view our life in the truth as an everlasting lifestyle - we always will be serving him regardless of when Armageddon comes. It's just easier for us to cope while we wait if we look at the future like Abraham at Heb 11:10, 13 "awaiting the city having real foundations... they saw them from a distance and welcomed them and publicly declared that they were strangers and temporary residents in the land.".

  8. I try to remind myself and others that we will not be disheartened is there are 3 more or.....? We do not serve God because this might be the last Memorial Celebration, we celebrate the occasion because God sent his Son and we love him and we are his servants. If there is one more, ten more or not in my lifetime, I will still be a cheerful dispenser of the good news. I have attended 64 memorial celebrations (I think). I am not unhappy because there is one more in a couple of weeks. When I started a third to half of the audience were partakers. Now our congregation has none. It will be a great time of joy on the 31st.

  9. Not that it is official in any way, but in our local needs part - which was about encouraging each other in this special month of activity - it was mentioned that this might be the last memorial invite work we ever do. The elders didn't obviously say it was the last one, but there is a good chance we are close to it being the last one. I think we all feel it, hey? Keep busy, keep focused, encourage each other "all the more so as you see the day drawing near" - Heb 10:25.

Lol I used this dough, topped with Alfredo sauce, fresh mozzarella, then veggies- frozen spinach which was marinated in olive oil, salt, garlic, and chili flakes, feta cheese, black olives, bit of onion. Granted, this is nothing I would eat all of the time, but for special occasions, absolutely. Better than picking all the toppings off of my kid's real pizza. Keep me posted on what you come up with!

  19. Yes, we'll have to wait and see (like all other "announcements" coming out from that quarter). So long as we are alert, as Rev 16:15 says, then we won't miss the point and be misled. We live in exciting (weirdly so) times! Eager expectation while we keep busy is the way to go.

Australian airline Qantas has instructed staff to no longer use phrases like “guys,” “mum and dad,” “husband” and “wife.” The pack advised staff to refrain from using potentially offensive terms like “husband” and “wife” because they “can reinforce the idea that people are always in heterosexual relationships,” according to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. “[A]lways referring to ‘mum and dad’ can make many families feel excluded — both same-sex couples and single-parent families... Words like ‘love,’ ‘honey’ or ‘darling,’ even when used as terms of endearment, often offend. 21. When I was studying as a mid/late teenager, the first scripture I memorized was John 3:16. However, in thinking about it this week the real answer is Hebrews 11:1a. "Faith is the assured expectation of the things hoped for." My mom shared that with me. I thought it was just the definition of faith. I didn't know it was a scripture.

As I look out my bedroom doors to the North I see cloud gathering on the horizon - white fluffy cloud - that belies what is behind it. Another Cat 1 Extra-Tropical Cyclone Hola is bearing down onto NZ tonight. There are two models - the American one is forecasting that it will clip North Auckland/Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne - before heading out east and blowing out of steam. The other Model - the Eurpoean model has it pushing more south west =meaning full hit for North Island. They are undecided on its track - so it's a wait and see. Tonight it hits far North, tomorrow/Tuesday it will hit the rest of the Island. If there is any concern I will pop back here and address it Hope all my brothers and sisters up North stay safe. Forgot to say - New Caledonia has just been whipped by this Cyclone - ssven meter waves. Not heard any other reports as yet. Hiya Ross! xxx

    Any good Keto recipes?

I made hamburger steaks and found a keto brown gravy to make and serve over them. I was desperate for a brown gravy and did not think it would be very good, but like I said, I was desperate for a brown gravy! It was super good! My friend at work said ‘I thought you were on a diet?’ How are you eating all that and loosing weight?’ After frying the burgers in a cast cast iron skillet you take about 1/3 of the fat and add beef bullion (I used Better Than Broth brand) then I add3d 1/2 cup chopped onion and a box of sliced mushrooms and sautéed. Then I added 2 T coconut flour and made a roux then used Makers Mark bourbon 1/3 cup and scraped up the brown bits. Then cooked a couple minutes and added heavy whipping cream. Oh dear was it gooood! I’ve done it too without the flour and it came out just as good.

@Saffronoh that sounds scrumptious! Several of my girlfriends and I plan on having a keto party. Everyone will fix a dish no one has tried and we will sample all recipes! Have you seen the you tube clips on keto cocktails? HELLO! I made a Salty Dog with a rimmed salted glass and added gin and the ICE brand pink grapefruit (Walmart) zero carbs. I had pork rinds that I never liked but when you go with out chips long enough I discovered I liked them! Anyway I had them with the Little Salad Bar brand 7 layer dip from Aldis (4 carbs for 2 Tablespoons ) and had half the container () which was like 16-20 carbs and did not fall out of ketosis. I had it while I laid in bed and prepared my WT and did pleasure reading from the old first person life stories. It was such a decandent treat I felt so pampered and enjoyed the Association (me and all the people I le@rned about)! What good friends we have now and in the future,

  28. This seems to be the flash in pan option where the US government creates a situation that causes a brief sudden surge in the economy. Tarffs can trigger a surge in some domestic businesses as foreign competitors are tarffed out of the domestic market. Local companies surge and hire many people tightening local labor market, wages skyrocket and consumer spending goes off the charts. But not everybody wins as major exporting economies like China implode and cheap labor countries are cut off from participating in the global economy. First world economies are on fire as they pull in the wealth of the world in a huge fire storm as the rest of the world collapses. Inflation takes off like a rocket in the first world economies driving living costs higher and sending interest rates soaring. Governments with huge debts like the US can not afford a large increase in the interest charged on the national debt. The financial fuse will be lit for the debt bomb. Everyone living beyound their means, including governments, businesses and individuals will be crushed as their interest payments go up and up. Those who listened to the warnings about living within your means and not pursuing a materialistic lifestyle will find themselves with some breathing room others will not have. A series of events may have now started that can not be easily stopped and may lead to a chain reaction financial disaster that in the early stages may appear as financial security, but will quickly get out of control. Pay off your debts, learn how to live on less and get ready for a rainy day. I think a storm is coming, even if it may look sunny at first.

  32. Your mom definitely sounds like a great example for all of us. I, too, was very touched by the video of the woman dancing. Absolutely love hearing stories like this along with the stories of people returning to the truth after many years. This gives me energy and makes me feel like I can endure.. then here comes something that knocks me to my knees once again, making feel the need to focus on how the end can't be far off. With me, it is truly a back and forth thing.. takes A LOT of prayer, personal study, and staying busy helping others in order to endure. I really would like to thank you all for being so kind and understanding about this, despite the fact that everyone sees this from a different perspective. Add this to the gigantic list of things that I love about Jehovah's people.

I saw many tears from these sisters interviewed, saying they didn’t know if they could get the hang of operating heavy machinery or have the skills needed! Sometimes even getting stuck in the mud! But with much training & encouragement they became excellent operators. I feel privileged to have been able to work alongside many of our lovely sisters. :-) I also wanted to learn to operate heavy machinery until they nabbed me for my hairdressing skills!! Hehe!! :-)

  39. Yes - DC-50 has been in for over a year and a half... was part of RBC since 2008 - never been called to do anything. I didn't put those skills on because I do not have those skills. I can paint. I can sing. I can manage projects. I took drafting in middle school (in 1979). I can run a spectacular office (administrative skillz thru the roof!). I didn't see a spot to list things a person would like to *learn* how to do... I'm unclear as to exactly what sort of skills are needed/would be recruited for. In my area, all the sisters who do the cool (or even uncool things) with any regularity are the wives of the brothers who are in heavy demand. Not many single sisters... especially not of my age bracket I suppose that if Jehovah sees fit for me to expand my service in this way, He'll see to it. Or not  Here I am -- I'm sendable, regardless.

  43. Yeah it's interesting. My question in another way of putting it is... if light is absent, does colour still exist? Now, this is similar to the philosophical riddle "if a tree falls, but nobody was around to hear , did it make a sound?" Of course, I'd say yes, if nobody heard it, it still made a sound because sound waves still were present at the place of impact wherever it was. To say otherwise would be to say "when God was alone before all other things, did he exist with nobody to observe him?" Obviously, yes he did, and in the same way the tree "did" make a sound. However, for my question, it's less philosophical and more based upon actual science. Without light, no colour can be seen. The definition of colour is when light reflects off an object in a certain wave length. So, if there is no light, there is no colour to be observed, as that's the only way we get colour. Each object has a defined colour and is objective in accordance to the light it is shown in. In day light, a shirt may always be "x" colour. But in a neon room, it may change, and if the world was neon and normal daylight was considered the "oddity" then our objective definition of colour would change. We all see the same colours (unless colourblind), and we can gauge that we all do by the effects on mood, lighting and so on that each colour has on the majority of people. So we can say that colours are not subjective in a sense, but we can say colour is subjective to the "source of light" it reflects from. In daylight, my shirt will always be white, in a neon room, it will always be blue. So, is my shirt blue or white? Well, we say white because we judge "real colour" by "natural light", but what natural light is, is subjective to where you are, maybe there is a planet somewhere where light is different? If you go to space, the sun will appear white, even though it is yellow, orange and red on Earth because of the way the light waves travel through the atmosphere. So, is it white, or yellow/orange/red? We know it's both, just depending on where you are, but we all will see the same thing, making it objective (locationally). http://solar-center.stanford.edu/SID/activities/GreenSun.html This article says the sun is "all" colours. So light is objective 'and' subjective. So, if colour is defined by the waves it travels through, that the sun is always yellow here, always white in space. My shirt white in daylight but always blue in neon. Where there is no light at all, is it really colourless? Hence why I make the statement that blood inside the body must be black, until an external light source changes it as colour is defined by the light that reflects off of the object.

  44. A brother and I were chatting about how many brothers and sisters today have learned basic programming skills, and ten times as many witnesses use software daily (for example, this very moment you are using Invision Community software which is powering JWTalk.net, which is serving up this content to you to read!) Given these two trends, which appear to be only accelerating rather than going away any time soon, we've been wondering if any other witnesses either on this forum or whom any forum members might know from other online communities, social networks (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) or in real life, who may want to collaborate in large numbers to develop software that can assist or even solve common challenges that witnesses might be confronted with, especially in their use of technology today. For example, when I was regular pioneering I tested multiple service apps, and even collaborated with the developers (brothers) who had published these apps, in order to adapt them to the specific needs of pioneers (who juggle large numbers of RV's, studies, and things such as hour counting both in the ministry and in other special forms of service). As is often the case, the needs of the users sometimes fall out of line a bit with what the coders think users need (or design interfaces with a specific purpose in mind, when the users tend to use their software tool in a way not originally foreseen, but immensely desirably). I have searched around a bit and have found a few 'JW apps' which appear to already have adopted the open source model, according to this search on OpenHub.net. I may also reach out to the developers of apps I have used in the past to gauge any interest (programmers tend to be less... shall we say social, and are not necessarily the type of person to be browsing a large social media / forum site such as this one. So please consider sharing this thread with witnesses who may be interested in this idea who are outside of the forum, especially!) If any of our forum members here know of any witnesses who are interested in this idea of open-source collaboration but are not inclined to join our forum, please PM me! I will be happy to provide my email or other contact information for you to forward to these ones in order to get the ball rolling. -- Brandon P.S. feel free to copy the text of this post and email or send it out to any brothers or sisters you want to. Even with half the human population now online, the internet is still a pretty fractured place with regards communication, but we're trying to get the word out to as many witnesses as we can with these ideas!

  45. If your DC-50 was accepted, they should have given you a number to fill in your skills profile on Builder Assistant (BA). Click on your picture and your profile should be one of the options. Click on your profile and one of the tabs at the top is "Skills". Click on "Skills" and all sorts of choices should appear. If you are interested in one of these (I would do a little research on the variations beforehand) click on that skill and fill in the answers to the questions (to the best of your ability). The second (or maybe third) box is "assessment. This is your personal assessment of your skill level. there are five levels to click on. The very first level is "No training or experience". Choose that one. If you know a little bit, choose level two "I can assist" bracket. I was told by one of the interviewers that the need is for able volunteers, not necessarily ones with licenses or formal training. Reach out intensely and pray for guidance. I wish you well.

Yet, there are many of Jehovah's people who are living under ban in the majority of Muslim-dominated countries, as well as in China, Singapore, Russia, Eritrea, etc. No doubt that our loving Creator and His glorious Son will take care of his faithful servants during those momentous times. For now, they are compelled to be "cautious as serpents yet innocent as doves." We pray for them also and they, too, pray for us!
