We love that about her. Medicine or not we have a great chance to help her become anything she wants to be in the organization.

  13. Tuesday, March 20 The eyes of Jehovah are everywhere, watching both the bad and the good.—Prov. 15:3. What a privilege it is to be part of Jehovah’s organization! With our knowledge of God’s requirements and standards comes the responsibility to do what is right and uphold his sovereignty. As this world sinks deeper and deeper into debauchery, we must “hate what is bad,” as Jehovah does. (Ps. 97:10) We refuse to join the ungodly and say: “Good is bad and bad is good.” (Isa. 5:20) Because we want to please God, we strive to remain clean physically, morally, and spiritually. (1 Cor. 6:9-11) We love Jehovah and put our trust in him; we choose to show our loyalty to him by living up to the standards clearly outlined in his own precious Book. And we make every effort to comply with those standards at home, in the congregation, on the job, at school—everywhere. w16.11 3:13

  17. The mystery of the sun’s super-hot atmosphere may lie in giant loops of plasma that are mostly invisible to today’s solar probes. Normally, the further you go from a heat source, the cooler it gets. Not so with the sun. Its surface is a sizzling 6000°C, but the corona, despite being further from the sun’s nuclear core, reaches more than a million degrees. Physicists aim to solve this mystery by mapping the coronal loops: streams of hot, glowing plasma that follow magnetic field lines that rise from the sun’s surface and fall back in. Since 2010, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory has been providing pictures of these loops. The images show ultraviolet radiation that is emitted by ionised elements, such as iron, in the plasma. Missing pieces Now, Gregory Fleishman at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark and his colleagues have shown that these ions aren’t distributed uniformly throughout a loop. The researchers analysed the properties of the electric current that flows through the plasma along the loops, as well as its effect on the ions. They found that regions where the electric current is positive – meaning it is flowing out of the sun’s surface – act as ion traps, creating a high density of ions of heavy elements there, while depleting them elsewhere in the loop. The implication is that the loops may not be emitting UV light from their entire length, but rather only from regions where the ions are found in high concentration. This could mean we are missing part of the picture, says team member Sophie Musset at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. “Maybe there are some loops which do not emit in ultraviolet,” she says. If so, these wouldn’t show up in UV images. This will have to be accounted for in models that try to explain the extreme temperatures of the corona, says Musset. 19. An Ohio high school student said he tried to stay apolitical during the National Walkout Day over gun violence but was suspended for his choice to remain in a classroom instead of joining protests or the alternative, going to study hall. Jacob Shoemaker, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School, said he didn’t want to take sides in the gun-control debate consuming the country. If he went outside for the walkout, he said, he would be supporting gun control. If he stayed in the common area of the school, he said, he would be seen as supporting gun violence and disrespecting the 17 lives lost in the Parkland, Fla. High school shooting the month before. This left Jacob wondering if it was a memorial for the lives lost or a show of support for gun control. He decided, instead, to stay in class for about 20 minutes doing homework after his teacher and fellow classmates left and locked the door. The district says it's responsible for students' safety and they can't be unsupervised. The school, as well as the Shoemakers, have received death threats and hate messages. Ohio student suspended Makes me wonder if he was one of JWs. The article doesn’t say, how many people would go through all that to stay neutral?

  27. I'm not quite sure how I should react to this. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad that he is now an ex-human with no income, no home and no job and no prospect of getting one. On the other hand, he brought it on himself by not bothering to contact his family for all those years and overstaying his visa. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first practice to deceive" (Walter Scott - Marmion). I wonder if his wife wanted to remarry and that is why she registered him as dead after all those years.

  29. It is so nice to be noticed abd appreciated. We can tend to feel we blend into the crowd and nothing we do amounts to anything. Our self esteem suffers. I’m going to try and make it a habit to give praise, encouragement, or a kind word everyday to at least three people I come in contact with. Since the majority of people I see are at the hospital, who needs more encouragement than these? I will also include ones that are extremely difficult to get along with. I think I will pull out a neglected journal and start tracking my progress and how my feelings change. Good reminder. Ill start now. Thank you Vernalee for your tireless effort in your contribution to this site. And to Astrid for always posting the WT weekly. And really to all my brothers and sisters who contribute and support us all her with their prayers, research, support and watchful eye over keeping this site a safe place to land. Thank you and much love to you all.

  30. Fortunately, the topic here at JWTalk was already clear and accurate and didn't have a spin on it. The Snopes article repeats with more explanation what the FOX article and interview already clearly stated. The schools response/excuse was that they were not supposed to leave any student unattended - which is true. But Jacob's point was that it clearly divided the students into 2 camps, and would give the appearance that he sided with the gun supporters and/or would be disrespecting the lives of the 17 students who died in the recent school shooting. He didn't like that he had no other options given, and didn't want to be associated with either side. Convening with the pro gun group would give the anti gun group the false appearance that he was pro gun. He wanted it to be clear to everyone that he was not taking sides. Personally, I think the kids deserves extra credit for taking a stand for his beliefs.

  34. For a week I was getting this pop-up of which blocked access to jw.org and tv.jw.org on our Samsung Smart TV's internet browser. (Even when I clicked on "Access Anyway") No problem with YouTube or Smithsonian Channel. Samsung has a very good telephone help line provided you get someone who knows how to fix the problem. On the third try I got a nice gal who said to unplug the TV for 30 seconds to get rid of any electrical glitches. That seemed to work as I no longer got the pop-up and the websites loaded and the videos played. The pop-up first appeared after a firmware update to the TV.

  36. ( I am sure you can ignore the point on evolution) From New Scientist magazine GOLDFISH and their wild crucian carp relatives can survive for five months without breathing oxygen – and now we know how. The fish carry a set of enzymes that, when oxygen levels drop, helps convert carbohydrates into alcohol that can be released through the gills. For most animals, including humans, a lack of oxygen can be fatal in minutes. We can metabolise carbohydrates without oxygen, but the process generates toxic lactic acid that quickly builds up in our bodies. The carp – and goldfish – have developed a workaround. When they metabolise carbohydrates anaerobically, the end product is alcohol, which is easier to remove. "The adaptation is very rare among animals," says Michael Berenbrink at the University of Liverpool in the UK. Berenbrink and Cathrine Fagernes at the University of Oslo, Norway, and their colleagues discovered that the fish carry an extra set of the enzymes that specifically helps generate alcohol when metabolism occurs in the absence of oxygen (Scientific Reports, doi.org/cbq7). The enzymes act in essentially the same way as brewer's yeast. The adaptation evolved 8 million years ago in the common ancestor of carp and goldfish, via a process known as whole-genome duplication. This is when an organism by chance ends up with an extra set of its genes, which can then be repurposed. By making alcohol, crucian carp and goldfish can survive all winter in icy ponds when other fish would suffocate, says Fagernes. This article appeared in print under the headline "Goldfish survive months without oxygen by brewing booze"

  44. Monday, March 19 Keep on encouraging one another.—Heb. 3:13. Jehovah and Jesus greatly value what all of us do to support Kingdom interests, even if our efforts and contributions are limited because of our circumstances. (Luke 21:1-4; 2 Cor. 8:12) For instance, some of our dear elderly ones make great effort to attend and share in meetings and the ministry regularly. Should we not commend and encourage them? Yes, seize opportunities to encourage others. If we see something that merits commendation, why hold back? Consider what happened when Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch in Pisidia. The presiding officers of the synagogue there told them: “Men, brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, tell it.” Paul responded by giving a fine talk. (Acts 13:13-16, 42-44) If we can offer a word of encouragement, why not speak up? We will very likely find that if we make it a habit to be encouraging, people will encourage us in return.—Luke 6:38. w16.11 1:3, 15, 16

  48. Good morning. We just recently had a brother in our congregation with the same issue with JW Broadcasting. To solve the issue he went into "Settings" on his iPad. Then scroll down to "Safari,"then scroll to "Block Cookies." Tap on "Block Cookies," then tap on "Allow from Websites I Visit." After these steps he was able to open JW Broadcasting without an issue. Hope this helps. [emoji4] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

About JWTalk.net - Jehovah's Witnesses Online Community

Since 2006, JWTalk has proved to be a well-moderated online community for real Jehovah's Witnesses on the web. However, our community is not an official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is not endorsed, sponsored, or maintained by any legal entity used by Jehovah's Witnesses. We are a pro-JW community maintained by brothers and sisters around the world. We expect all community members to be active publishers in their congregations, therefore, please do not apply for membership if you are not currently one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
