    Don't Worry ...

About things that won't matter in a hundred years. Many of you may have heard this before, and some may have even employed this as one of their go-to statements to put things into perspective. I wanted to focus on this quote/quip on its own because it has more merit than one would initially think. I remember growing up in a small town - it is called Featherston and it was really windy!! But the other thing small towns have other than weird weather - is the small town mentality - of being in each others pockets. I think there are pros and cons to this - pros being if you are in trouble there is always someone to help out. The cons are though - is everyone gets to know your business and because we are forced to 'associate' or deal with a smaller pool of personalities we find those we clash with much easier. This can happen in congregations too, more readily in smaller congregations, but also in larger congregations because after all even in larger communities there are organized smaller groups within and quite simply, in the truth, those smallers groups aren't compiled with just those we get on the most easily with naturally but some require much work. It can also happen in a forum such as this - well honestly this is the only forum I'm interested in ... but how can we apply the opening quote to everday relationships ... the questions I ask myself - are should I avoid assocation with brothers or sisters if I simply don't agree with or even on ocassion strongly disagree with? Or should I look for the qualities that Jehovah sees and the whole reason HE drew that person to the truth. Now, what I'm saying is not new ... we all know that. But what if we employ this quote: Don't worry about things that won't matter in a a year, or a hundred years or even a thousand years? What doesn't matter? - Differences of opinions don't matter. Little niggles don't matter. (Bigger ones will be dealt with through the right channels). What matters? Two things really. One: Jehovah's sanctification and vindication of his name and of his sovereingty - But that is a given really - because nothing can stop that from happening. Two: Is that every brother and sister, whether it be in our family, extended family, congregation or outside communities like this forum - makes it through to the New System. I just love this quote because it helps me focus on what is important. I love every one of you on this forum, those too I've not yet met and those I don't always agree with. Just wanted to put this quote out there as it will be as helpful to you as it is to me. I know in the days/months/years ahead we need each other so much ... we need to be united in whatever aspect of our service. If you have other little quotes you've found helpful - we would all love to hear them.

  3. Going through my own trial (my 14 year daughter went to sleep one day and did not wake up the following day). I'm ok- Thanks to Jehovah! I have literally seen his hands in my life. Anyhoo, my other Favorite text is also from the Apostle Paul. I visualize myself saying to Jehovah, after the 1000 years, " I have fought the fine fight, I have run the race to the finish, I have observed the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

    Don't Worry ...

“If you wish for peace of mind and happiness, then just believe. If you wish to be a disciple of Truth....then investigate” ——Freidrich Neitzsche This reminded me of experiences I’ve had with some very sincere church people even pastors who seem to be very nice people just trying to do what they think is right. Romans 10: 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge. 3 For because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

"Sin will take you farther than you want to go, Keep you longer than you want to stay, And cost you more than you want to pay." Last summer I saw this quote on Pinterest and it's been my phone's wallpaper every since, reminding me how true it is, as I'm living with the effects of a wrong choice made in 1993.

  12. Br. Carlos, I don't know about "scientist" particularly, but I taught computer hardware assembly and repair at a technical college (and software installation). I owned my own computer company (making PCs for home and office) from 1984-1996). I use computers and notebooks and tablets almost every day. I work with the LDC in CAD design and drawing. I am retired now, so my involvement with computers today is one of a user.

  13. Wow, just wow on the marriage portions of the program. That was some serious business there. One thing it told me is that Witnesses are people at the end of the day, and that marriage does require work to maintain. Our marriages are not immune from the stuff that plagues non-witness marriages. The difference is that we have an advantage that they don't -- that third cord, and we are blessed to have an organization that views marriage as Jehovah does. And I am happy we got the frank experiences. I would love to tell those brothers and sisters how happy I am that they were willingly to expose some very serious issues, especially the second couple, for the benefit of us all. Those were DEEPLY personal. It took courage, because instead of having the relative anonymity that comes with being published in a WT article, they put their identities on display, not just for us to see, but for those in the outside world. And also, some of those details could have been embarrassing, but Jehovah clearly helped them through it. THANK YOU! The song is something we are going to cruise to this summer, on a warm night, while eating icecream...my wife and I. It was really soothing and encouraging. Great program!

  14. I enjoyed the marriage interviews and how frank and honest the couples were. I also liked the song very much. I also enjoyed Br Sanderson's morning worship. I will try and remember his comment on 1 Per 5:8 "Stand firm! You cannot out run a lion - you will only die tired"

  16. You're all very right! Our song for the month sounds like George Benson, or maybe Luther Ingram? I'm not sure who the female singer sounds like. Either way, Truly in Love is for those who are in love with someone special, or for those who wish they had someone special to love. If you would like to put the song on your phone to listen to, I have converted it to mp3 format and uploaded it to my music collection. Help yourself, and happy listening! Truly in Love There is a gift that comes from above, A lovely gift called being in love. When two hearts begin to beat as one, Then a wonderful time has begun. It’s simple, so easy. And it’s something we know. With a threefold cord, Love will grow. With Jehovah to guide us in all that we do, How I love to be truly in love With someone like you, Someone like you. Trials will come our way, But our love will grow stronger each day. We will build a bond that no one can break. We will build a love that no one will take. No, no, no one, no. It’s simple, so easy. And it’s something we know. With a threefold cord, Love will grow. With Jehovah to guide us in all that we do, How I love to be truly in love With someone like you, Someone like you. Nothing can destroy our love. This precious gift is from our God up above. Exclusive devotion —‘love’s as strong as death.’ You are “bone of my bones”; you are “flesh of my flesh,” Such an excellent woman in all that you do. I will spend all my life loving you. I want you to know how I feel ’Cause my love for you is so very real. I bless the day you came into my life. I bless the day I made you my wife. Yes I do. It’s simple, so easy. And it’s something we know. With a threefold cord, Love will grow. With Jehovah to guide us in all that we do, How I love to be truly in love With someone like you, Someone like you. How I love to be truly in love With someone like you.

  21. If you were to take the song, and mix it together with some other love songs on a CD or MP3 playlist and then play that CD at work, I wonder if work colleagues would notice the difference, or even sing/hum along to it as if it was just another love song off the radio.

  23. If you guys remember James Dyson -- he was featured on a Broadcast a couple of years ago... black brother, in the army before... he attended the congregation I did when we were coming into the Truth in the mid 70s. He was just a young brother - not sure if he was even a ministerial servant, yet. I was probably 10 years old and I'll never forget - he had a talk on the TMS (the number 4) and the bell went off for timing. Brother Dyson stopped in mid-sentence and stepped off the stage. I remember the School Overseer laughing and saying one can always finish their thought before leaving the platform. I don't know why that stuck with me... but that's my Brother Dyson memory.. I also attended the congregations of two different people who've been featured on the cover of our magazines, so... yeah!

  24. Fun Fact: Brother Turner is from my old neighborhood back in Harvey, IL! We didn't attend the same congregation but our Kingdom Halls were about 3 miles from each other and we were always in the same circuit. He was a classic, nerdy, spiritual teen.. We basically grew up together - it was great to see him on the Broadcast.

  30. Thank you Brandon for the correction. I must have been "lost in the clouds"... It was a good catch. Here is the quote from Akamai's own web page: What really is a CDN? A content delivery network is a highly-distributed platform of servers that responds directly to end user requests for web content. It acts as an intermediary between a content server, also known as the origin, and its end users or clients.

  46. The size and expense of building a world-wide server Network to distribute the content would be very expensive and labor intensive. Akamai has server farms in 70 countries (I think) and a Cloud Delivery network (CDN) to make the content available around the world almost instantaneously. They are alble to map your location, adjust the delivery from the nearest or most open server without your input. Look at the images below and imagine the work and expense to build something like this in multiple cities. It is easier to lease space.
