Whatever ...... I was the one who heard with my own ears and saw with my own eyes the tape I told them to quit playing because it was so filthy - and they were playing it quite loud. However, I will bow to all those who say it couldn't have been him since they never heard him do such a recording. I am done posting in this thread6 points

Our summers aren’t always the warmest, but it’s is a beautiful area. Numerous falls, cruise boats to Pictured Rocks, kayaking, boating, you name it, it can be done here. Plenty of snow for the snowmobilers to drink their beer 🍺 and act stupid and land in the hospital or worse. Can’t seem to enjoy activities without alcohol and speed. By the time they figure that out, it’s too late. This is Scott falls about 10 miles or so from me. The pic was taken on April 25...it finally broke thru the ice and flowing.4 points

I grew up rather spoiled, despite the fact that we're poor, since I had very little discipline or restrictions set on my time, especially in video games. Saffron's advice is spot on, consistent and well understood boundaries for each individual depending on their abilities and circumstances. Rules, punishment and reward should be written down and the principles taught in such a way that the child can explain them. There are a huge amount of articles and resources in the research guide. It would be good to read many of them privately, listen to them repeatedly via audio if you're short on focus and time. Then choose specific ones such as young people ask or watchtower articles to study with your children during family worship. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1204075#h=192 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1204075#h=256 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1204075#h=274 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1204075#h=369 Some key articles: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2013087 When Your Child Is Disabled https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102008329 Asperger's https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/101995089 Autism (A bit older, 1995) Discipline: https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102015122 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102015123 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2014487 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102013002 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102013080 https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1020131633 points -
Saturday, April 28 She, out of her want, put in all the means of living she had.—Luke 21:4. Like the needy widow, many of our modern-day fellow believers trust that if they seek first the Kingdom, Jehovah will make sure that they have what they need. (Matt. 6:33) Consider a brother named Malcolm. Over the decades that he and his wife served Jehovah, they experienced ups and downs. “Life is unpredictable at times, uncertain, and even hard to deal with,” he said. “But Jehovah blesses those who lean on him.” Malcolm’s advice? “Pray to be as productive and as active in Jehovah’s service as you can be. Focus on what you can do, not on what you cannot do.” As this system of things goes “from bad to worse,” we can expect to face increasingly greater difficulties. (2 Tim. 3:1, 13) So it is more important than ever that we do not allow ourselves to be paralyzed by such challenges. Rather, we need to cultivate strong trust in Jehovah while taking whatever appropriate action we can. w17.01 1:17-193 points

How do you unwind?

About 1976 my brother and I went on holiday/vacation down to the coast with about 8 other family members in a large extended bungalow. For about 12 days I would go into the toilet, see the toilet paper sitting on the floor randomly on the right and carefully put it in the holder hanging on the left wall. Eventually our elderly aunt yelled out “Who keeps putting the toilet paper under that dripping ceiling?!” Well how was I to know? #scarredForLife3 points -

I own 3 versions of Superstar and I have two playlist on my phone which take each song form the original concept album and follows it with corresponding chapters in The Greatest Man and the Jesus WTL books. I partial agree about John Legend. I think his and Sara Bareilles versions of Jesus and Mary were very refreshing. And Brandon Victor Dixon was amazing. The Temple scene is pointless without religous context and I don't know what they doing. Buckets of glitter??? Overall it was an A-/B+. I know this is kinda old but you can tell I've really wanted to talk about this.3 points

Wearing balaclavas and carrying machine guns, police in four Russian cities have raided the homes of Jehovah’s Witnesses over the past two weeks and brought members of the religious group in for questioning, sources connected to the group told Newsweek. In Russia, where the Orthodox Christian Church has deep ties to the highest levels of the Kremlin, the government has labeled Jehovah’s witnesses an “extremist” sect. The ruling was made exactly one year ago, in April 2017, and came into force just a few months later when Russia’s Supreme Court dismissed an appeal. The group’s administrative center in St. Petersburg, Russia was consequently dissolved, and Jehovah’s witnesses were forced to begin worshiping in secret in their homes after almost 400 local chapters shuttered. Meanwhile, many say they have faced systematic harassment by security forces. Since January, members of the group say they have had their homes raided on at least seven separate occasions, four of which took place in April. “It’s a new wave of persecution. We don’t know what’s happening,” Yaroslav Sivulsky, a Jehovah’s Witness from Russia who is now living in exile in Latvia, told Newsweek Thursday. “If they wanted to they could put any number of Jehovah’s Witnesses in prison because they know the Jehovah’s Witnesses are worshipping at home and they can find them easily.” Read more here: http://www.newsweek.com/jehovahs-witnesses-russia-ban-police-9030212 points

Our son's wedding photos were in the Gardens. Autumn is nice. But now we relocated and just have wet season or dry season here in the tropics. Melb has 4 seasons, all in 1 day! PS I took the photo above myself. I walked over to talk to a tourist. Took the snap. The cart is just to the right of the blue roofed BBQ shelter. Bill Cosby Convicted
bogartd and one other reacted to rbrown1205 for a topic
It may well be that he did dirty recordings, but I have never heard them. My first exposure to Bill Cosby was when he was in I Spy in the mid 1960's, for which he won an Emmy award. My siblings and I just about memorized his album (yes, in vinyl) called "I Started Out as a Child", where he introduced Fat Albert, and also his version of Noah's conversation with "the Lord" where Noah asked "Am I on Candid Camera?" And the Cosby Show continued the importance of family values long after Father Knows Best and similar programs moved on. But how people act in the general media is often different from how they act in real life. "Sex and drugs and rock and roll" became a mantra among the young in the sixties. But celebrities, actors and musicians especially, are often excused from behaving morally, and although apparently, this wasn't the case with what Cosby was accused of doing, many fans ("groupies") have encouraged it. Still, it hurts for me to discover that this man whose work I have seen for most of my life has messed up his life and reputation so badly.2 points -
I was talking to a sister. There are a lot of people out there who think they’ve gotten by with heinous crimes. That is, until they meet Jehovah!2 points
-
I appreciate your point Sister Annie, but think about the setting of the novel -- it's the Great Tribulation -- a time of increased violence, wickedness and great distress! With this backdrop, Jehovah's people may hear or witness things of great horror and of a frightening nature. And during that time, our very lives will profoundly depend on our obedience to Jehovah and direction from the FDS. Meanwhile, people of the nations will become, "faint out of fear" -- the very thing that Jesus described at Luke 21:26. So, these "scenarios of concern" described in this novel are pertinent for that time period, IMO. Now, I'm starting to wonder if EK Jonathan's 3rd installment will be completed before then..lol!2 points

Jesus Christ Superstar
Hope and one other reacted to Brother_Bliss for a topic
I have the 1973 movie and have watched the recent NBC performance on HULU a few times. As a fan of theatre, broadway, and the arts, I get my kids into these things as well John Legend was good. I really like much of what he put into it. However, his rendition of Gethsemane wasn't my favorite, and I think he fell flat on his high falsetto note but it has been auto-tuned on the subsequent soundtrack release. Sarah Bareilles as Mary was great, probably my favorite to date. Brandon Victor Dixon was outstanding, and I'm struggling to decide if he might have even done better than Carl Anderson did back in the day. The tables arranged like a cross was stupid, but it's only natural that *we* would feel this way. The glitter was supposed to be the money/coins, I believe. Overall, it was fantastic. I would have loved to have been there. I've seen JC Superstar twice live, and will again when it comes around again.2 points -

When Rich sent me this photo this morning and I found out the subject of the movie, I don't think I could watch it-- I have few fears or phobias, one of them is a small ship, in a large body of water, sinking. .. To watch these people at sea, being attacked by a lethal but obscure foe, with the possibility of a short swim in the Atlantic, I don't know if I could watch that.2 points

So sorry for such a difficult situation. Miss Bea said it quite nicely. I too will remember you in my prayers. Parenting was not a strong suit for me. Being divorced while all three were under 6 years of age there was a lot of making up for what I thought they lost out on. I did not know Jehovah at that time, nor was I introduced to him till my youngest was a few months from graduation. Needless to say, we all suffered. Ilove your idea. Reverse the damage. I will be following this closely. prayers and much patience are in order.2 points -

That’s one thing that baffles me....how some of these guys think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Common sense has to tell you that someone going to fight back sooner or later. They must be so full of themselves (like Satan) they can’t think straight. Mans of course they have no regard for others they use and abuse. He’ll never do any time in prison. They appeal and appeal. He’s 80 years old...they’ll find a way to keep him out of jail. But I think he’ll have to dish out some big bucks.1 point

Having heard part of a recording of one of his early routines, this does not surprise me. Back in 1980, when we were having some work done on our property, the guys doing the work (they were hired by a third party company) were playing a tape of Cosby. When I heard the tape, and they had it very loud, I told them they had to turn it off or leave. It was one of the filthiest, disgusting "comedy routines" I have ever heard. Every bit as bad, if not worse than any of the routines I heard from Robin Williams or Richard Pryor - in their early days, when people complained about how bad their stuff was.1 point
