  1. Jehovah has blessed me with a new job, one that allows to work more independently and away from close interaction with worldly people. Plus I have more of a chance to meditate on spiritual things.

  2. Violence is prevalent in every society now. The world has become immune to it to the extent that it's all our children see. Al l of their video games promote war. My adult grandson was playing Final Fantasy last night and, because I have heard it for many years, I knew that he was in a battle and the background music was so intensely exciting. It added to the thrill of battle. The lesson in the Bible Reading this week surely helps us to understand that this world is doomed and we must keep awake and alert as to the times in which we live. The answer for many people is increased support of their government. I see an increase of patriotism in this country. It seems that this is true of most lands. The end is in sight. We have to increase out spirituality in order to survive. Our faith will save us, as Jehovah has promised.

Here is a very touching article about our sister Deliana Rademakers in the Auschwitz concentration camp. What a joy it will be to meet this sister in the new world! https://facesofauschwitz.com/gallery/2018-4-16-faces-of-auschwitz-deliana-rademakers/

  6. There have been fifteen 6. and greater earthquakes in just this past week. That is averaging more than two per day. Add to all that, thirteen 5.5 + quakes. Then top all those quakes off with the 7.2 in Venezuela and the 8.1 in Fiji. California is currently in the cross-hairs. Don't be scared. Be prepared.

  11. It gets hot where we are in Florida, On the job, if you work outside protection is a good idea. I use a wide brimmed hat and keep my shirt on. Now, when it comes to Service - we don't have much a worry about getting sunburned - we are not out in the sun that much. The majority of our territory is rural ... or, as we call it, car territory. We drive from house-to-house and are not out in the sun that long from car to door to get burned. In the small amount of walking territories we have, most are heavily shaded. Now, when it comes to keeping dry that is another question

  14. Yes, it's not surprising at all. If I weren't a witness, I'd probably make a lot more money. (Not definitely - but assuming there are various other witnesses like me, 'probably' is all it has to be to explain the statistical difference.) Without the guidance from God, I'd take instead the guidance from the world, that a career is the way to improve my life. And there have certainly been opportunities to strive for a career - after college, I had the grades to apply to a top university, but pioneered instead. Even more lately, I've noted the possibility of getting a higher degree, but thought it would just take up too much time from other things. Servants of God have other priorities than making money. The surprising thing is how high that '>$100,000' part is among witnesses, even though it's considerably lower than any other religion! I've known a few witnesses who make a lot, often from businesses or careers they'd built up before coming into the truth, but I can't think of more than one in the same congregation anywhere, so I wouldn't expect it to be as high as 4%.

  16. Without protection, you will fry in our hot summer sun. Most brothers and sisters wear sunscreen - not just in service, but in any outdoor activity from sport to work. Some sisters use an umbrella, some use a hat. Umbrella works better for me because I HATE hat-hair. We also get ferocious Easterly winds that come swooping down from over the hills from the desert every morning until about 10.30 - hot and around 35k/h. So, umbrellas are marginally better than hats.

  19. This is happening with the videos in English for the last three or four months. The brothers changed something in the way those subtitles are displayed and now the only way to see them is by playing the video online. It doesn't happen with other languages. It seems they no longer provide any subtitled videos in English for download. I find it frustrating too because English is not my first language and the subtitles helped a lot. Maybe they will fix them later. Regarding resolution, yes, 720 is the highest. It has enough quality for the videos to be view on a big screen tv.

  21. Why can I not download the original videos with the subtitles? I did it before, now I can’t. I checked the settings and I have subtitles, checked. Also is 720 the largest size file for those videos? Any help will be appreciated

  22. Lol 70 degree weather is nothing. I’m from Texas. It gets much hotter here. I used to own my own landscaping business and I’ve worked for two different car detailing companies, so I’ve spent many years in the sun for over 8 hours a day without wearing a hat or long sleeves. Never been sun burned. I’ve never heard of anyone with my compexion being sun burned. I’m not saying it can’t happen. Just never heard of it.

  25. Ok, I think this is a bit of a misleading story, if I'm understanding it correctly. Basically, the Fire dept had reached it's data cap, and thereafter it is throttled to a lower speed, unless it upgrades to a different plan offering more data. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with "net neutrality" as such. "Verizon spokesperson Heidi Flato said in a statement to USA TODAY that the issue is not related to net neutrality court proceedings. Verizon has a practice for removing data restrictions during emergency situations, but this case was a customer service error, Flato said. "In this situation, we should have lifted the speed restriction when our customer reached out to us. This was a customer support mistake," the statement said." It is stupid customer service, and Verizon should have over-ridden it's cap for such an essential service. What a world! Use your humanity, people! Or should we just let our buildings and forests burn because of a data cap? 😖

  31. Wednesday, August 22 Setting the mind on the spirit means . . . peace.—Rom. 8:6. One aspect of having inner peace is that we strive to be at peace with those in our family and those in the congregation. We have the good sense to realize that both we and our brothers and sisters are imperfect. Because of this, problems may occasionally arise, and if that happens, we have been taught to follow Jesus’ advice: “Make your peace with your brother.” (Matt. 5:24) This is made easier when we recall that the other brother or sister is also serving “the God who gives peace.” (Rom. 15:33;16:20) And there is another peace that is of incalculable value. By our “setting the mind on the spirit,” we enjoy peace with our Maker. Isaiah recorded words that applied in his day but have an even greater fulfillment now: “You [Jehovah] will safeguard those who fully lean on you; you will give them continuous peace, because it is in you that they trust.”—Isa. 26:3; Rom. 5:1. w16.12 2:5, 18, 19

    Resurrection Reunions

Yeah, I didn't want bring this up earlier. In our era flat bottom barges are buit upside down and then roled over to build the superstructure. I been informed by a number of forum members that I should not put this off to miracles. There is a logical expanation for how they coated the bottom of the Ark ovehead. Curious, I have been in a trade where I had to under coat the bottom of vessel with modern bitumem. (sub zero refigeration vessels) Do you know where most of the bitumen ended up? I was totally water-proofed as were my coveralls. Maybe that is where Noah's family got their rain gear.

Please, if you could coordinate it and assemble it for us? Thank you. We just have to decide on a reading, and bring more members on board. @Hope, still interested?

  36. Dark skin is no protection. I burn in the Australian sun - too fierce. In Europe, I don't burn as much, even if the temps are hot. The hole in the Ozone layer is hovering over Australia and NZ, and we are very diligent on slip, slop, slap as Mandi mentioned above.
    2 points
  37. Joking aside, yes they do. Getting burned has very little to do with heat, but more with sun exposure. How quickly you are affected depends on the composition of your skin. And, yes, people with darker skin might need sunscreen too.

I'll try to push it back into the bed before fall. The trees are losing their needles now, giving me good mulch A sister gave me 2 female fig a couple weeks ago. She just told me she has a male for me so now I'm going to get them planted on the back of the fence line.
