For decades, criticism of Beijing’s heavy-handed rule in its western region was met with silence. But now Chinese leaders have decided to defend it. Oct. 27, 2018 / 5:50 AM ET By Melinda Liu BEIJING — In China’s western Xinjiang region, populated by mostly Turkic-speaking Muslims, up to one in 12 Muslim residents languish in political re-education camps, according to the United Nations. Many have been confined for seemingly inoffensive activities, including: ... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/million-muslims-are-held-detention-camps-china-now-portrays-humane-n922041 Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk5 points

Hello brothers and sisters, this my first post on here. After reading these nice ‘Stories about how ones have come into the truth', it reminded me of an experience that a brother told me about many years ago. While at a convention, a sister was approached by a brother who asked, remember me? She replied, can’t say that I do. It turns out that he purchased her house many years previously. The reason for him not forgetting her; he found a number of books and magazines in the loft (under the insulation) and found them interesting reading. I cannot recall the full details of how things developed at this point, but as a result of this find, he ended up having a bible study and got baptised. A nice story in itself but when coupled to the sister's account of things, its quite remarkable. It turns out that she lived in a divided home, living in fear of her husband who wouldn’t allow her to have any of our literature in the house. This resulted in her having to hide her books and magazines with the hope that he would never find them. One of her hiding places was under the insulation in the loft.5 points

Today I worked out in service with a newly baptized brother from a neighboring city and he told us a very nice story. He said after he got baptized and was in the bathroom changing, there was an older brother in his late 60s or early 70s who had just been baptized as well and they both were ecstatic. He asked the older brother how he came into the truth. The brother said that he used to be a baptist preacher. The brother said “really?! You’re going to have to give me the shortened version of this story.” He said that the brother then told him that he started to see things in the Bible that were contrary to what he was teaching his church. He realized he wasn’t teaching them the truth, so he decided to stop preaching. He said he had ideas of what the Bible really taught but couldn’t find a religion that shared his beliefs. One day he got on the internet looking for the truth and he stumbled on our website. The truth was so clear to him. Finally he had found a religion that taught what he knew to be the truth from the Bible. He’s now one of our brothers. What a great story. This brother was willing to give up his profession to do what he knew was right. If any of you guys came into the truth because of JW.org or know a story of someone who has, please share 🙂4 points

Well, now...trouble is, the world is ripe with unrest. A shooting at a synagogue, bombs in the mail... it permeates the world of mankind. Stay secure, and have peace. As we do now. I was told the violence, etc is at the worst peak in all of mankind’s history. From a circuit assembly. What is coming is coming. Stay close to Jehovah, his organization, and the congregation. One way or another, we will be okay. (Brother, it’s hard for me to think about all the different countries in such a small geographical area)4 points

Does Germany have storms, fires, earthquakes or any other natural disaster? Has anyone ever been evacuated due to a hazardous waste release or spill? Has there ever been any terrorist activity that has affected residential areas? It sounds like the brothers in your area need to stop thinking that Disaster Preparedness only applies to Military activities.3 points

A BIG tree frog moved into our house. He was about 3 inches long. What happened is he hopped and landed on my face while I was sleeping! I just thought my wife rolled over and hit me with her hand. I remember half waking and thinking how cold her hand was... before rolling over to sleep some more. It all came to a screaming end when he then hopped onto her face... Altho I started this on Wednesday, a bad source of research on Keto type foods said fruit is acceptable. So I got some grapes and have one bag of oranges open and one unopened. Course than I find out it’s taboo. Grrrr. So now I’ve been bad from the start but only a few days. I know I won’t burn any fat if I don’t quit right now. But....I’ve been off soda since Tuesday. I’m keeping track of that on my calendar.2 points

One of the best things about eating Ketogenic is that it never fails to send the biological signal that you are full or satiated. I still tend to overeat, a bad leftover habit from always feeling hungry and eating until it hurt with what I used to eat. Sometimes I'll eat too quickly, or while focused on something else, or I snack because I'm bored or stressed or self soothing... but at least I don't overeat due to insulin, leptin and ghrelin issues anymore. When I do feel sick from eating too much, I can understand why it's my fault for not being mindful about what and why I'm eating, rather than my body telling me that for some reason I need more.2 points

A sister I recently met told me her story. My memory is not great, but I'll give the CliffNotes. She was raised in a Muslim family. Her father and mother were highly controlling and emotionally abusive. (These are the details I can't remember). At some point, while at school a sister started witnessing to her and she liked what she had heard. Then she was visited by another sister at her house and a study was started. But due to extreme opposition from her parents - such as not allowing her out of the house except for school - the study was briefly done in secret, then eventually stopped. Later, this young woman spent some time (a year or two) learning mainly from the website. This was the bulk of her study. Once she was old enough to move out she told her parents what she wanted to do, only to be told that if she leaves and studies with the Witnesses she will no longer be her daughter. With that she left for another state, studied and was baptized a short time later. More recently, she and her parents have started communicating again under her requisite that he doesn't talk bad about her religion.2 points

My mum has been feeding her magpie for years now, and she returns with her young family and "husband" (she's had 2 so far). She hand feeds them mince from a spoon, and oats. A willy-wag tail also likes to join in. And as nice as it is to interact with the wildlife, unfortunately, mum's feeding is not actually a good thing. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-18/these-foods-could-be-hurting-your-backyard-magpies/10365712 Mum is 80, and I don't have the heart to tell her she's probably hurting more than helping her wild "pets". It is amazing to watch their relationship, though, and it's a nice foregleam of how wild animals will interact with us in the new world.1 point -

Stupid teenagers! I'm serious! They're sooo disrespectful, and now it seems like they're the ones in charge of a Starbucks area at a Targets store. So today (not the first time) I made a complaint to the policemen standing around. And what did they do? Absolutely nothing, except to say there's nothing they can do. I mean, these kids are totally out of control! I asked the policemen "so who's the adult here"? Then gave a real example of how to take control. Earlier today I'm on the escalate going up, my book bag on my left. Then a young man wanted to pass me by expecting me to move my bag for him so he can pass. What happened to patience? So I told him, exact words "look baby, you either wait, or step over, I'm too tired to pick it up." He seemed to have an attitude and I cared right? Yeah ok. So he stepped over it with that "I'm a man" attitude. Whatever! I'm really thinking that so-called adults are afraid of these people called kids. Makes me SICK!1 point

Yeah, the US.. I'm thinking that having 6 bombs mailed to politicians and one very rich man(Soros), all in a couple of days, may be considered newsworthy, especially when you factor in all the tension and fear that is so prevalent here lately. I saw this earlier today, the talking heads say that some of the packages may have been hand delivered to the target because none of the postage stamps had been stamped, meaning that they hadn't been processed through the postal system....1 point -

Arch of Titus is much admired by the hundreds of thousands of people each year who visit the Roman Forum. Some view the arch as a majestic work of art, others as a tribute to imperial Roman power, and yet others as an epitaph to fallen Jerusalem and its temple. Careful readers of the Bible, however, view the Arch of Titus as having even greater significance. It is a silent witness that confirms the reliability and accuracy of Bible prophecies and establishes that they are inspired by God.—2 Peter 1:19-21.1 point -
Sr, Whitley, the reference is cited here" Ecclesiastes 10:20..."Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king, and do not curse the rich in your bedroom; for a bird may convey the sound, or a creature with wings may repeat what was said." This scripture refers to God's command that we not speak poorly or call down evil on the leadership of the nation. When the Apostle Paul called the person who ordered him slapped "a white-washed wall" it was pointed out to him that the person was the high priest. Paul alluded to this scripture by saying we should not speak against a Prince of the people. So in the case of political rulers today, we should not speak against nor harbor ill will against any of these authorities, "even in your thoughts" or even at night privately in "your bedroom" because we were told to pray for them and seek a quiet life waiting on Jesus to taka care of their meddling and opposition.1 point

Yes indeed, a mature christian would accept the choice that individuals make and keep their conscience in check if they disagree. Brother Clifford, There's another aspect too, that many who may eat meat, whether minimally or more, also love Vegan dishes - I know I do - I enjoy finding alternative ways to cook. So being inclusive of those who eat meat you can still learn much from others. The line is crossed when others are judged because of their choices.1 point -
