On an earlier thread, I mentioned that I was doing some research on my (unbelieving) husb's (and my sons' ) African lines through maternal grandmother (who was one of our spiritual sisters.) On the front page of an info pack, I made a spread sheet to do a straight line search through to their African lines (9 generations). My husb's nephew came to visit, and the first thing I told him was that I had researched these lines b/c his great grandmother was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, like myself. This nephew said he learned more about his family in a few hours, than in his entire life. Then, husb asked me to make a genealogy pack for his cousin's grandchildren. This cousin was once a P.O. but had become inactive over the years. I wrote in a memo on the spread sheet that said, "To whomever is reading this, I became interested in Grandma ____________'s family line, because like myself, she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I hope to see her in the future. John 5:28,29." I did not know if husb's cousins' grandchildren were in the truth or not. Husb's cousin called me today and said he loved the stuff and is just getting to read through it. He has shared it with other non-witness cousins, who would like to speak with me b/c I have some info that no one else ever found. He is making copies. Some he is sending out. His two grandchildren ARE pioneers and attending foreign language conventions this summer. When he came here before, he did not attend meetings; when we were in his home cong, a few months ago, he also did not attend meetings. He told me today that when his relatives are in a foreign language convention (France, I think), he will come and visit and WILL definitely attend meetings. I'm glad I put that memo on the front page and that he is sharing it with others. P.S. My husb went to last Thursday's meeting as well as Sunday's meeting. He has quit smoking after 62 years and has restarted his study. He hadn't told me that, but an elder mentioned it to me (not realizing I am the last to know anything.) He also answered at the Watchtower meeting and told me he is already preparing his answer for next Watchtower meeting.

I laughed out loud when someone quoted part of scripture in Timothy 1 Tim 4:8 is funny if you move the comma back one word so that it is after 'but' and read it that way... LOL For physical training is beneficial for a little butt .......godly devotion is beneficial for all things, as it holds promise of the life now and the life that is to come.

Br. Richard, I wasn't able to get any of my tablets or phones or computers to show "pending update" for this publication. I tried two work-arounds. First one: I went to the JW.ORG website, went to "Publications", and selected the brochure to download in "jwpub" file format. When I opened it in JW Library everything was OK. Second one: I just deleted the brochure from mys JW Library and re-installed it. It came up with the updated version. Neither system showed the exact display as noted in the published instructions (this was IOS, Android and Win10). If you open the newly updated brochure, you have to select a lesson with a video (no videos in lesson #1, #9, #11, #13 and #14 or the concluding #15). Choose Lesson 2 for example. If you see the picture with the video "play" arrow in the middle and click on it the video will play. BUT it is in wifi "straming" mode. You need a constant internet connection to make this work. Go back the beginning of the lesson, look at the top menu bar on the right. Choose the 3 dots and click on them. Another menu opens and the choice of "show Media" or something like that is usually 2nd or 3r on the list. Click on that and a page appears with all of the media choices on you device. The ones marked "picture" are already loaded in the brochure. Chatpter two has a video. If you have already downloaded it at another time it will show as ready to play. If you have not it will show the little "cloud" symbol for you to download. When you have gone through each cahpeter and made sure the vidoes are installed they are ready for your use. The default method is still streaming over the internet. To play your downloaded and installed video, you have to go to the top, choose the 3 dots and select "show media". then just choose the video you want to see (without an internet or streaming data connection. If you show the video more than once it is cheaper for the organization if you play from the download.

If you download a jwpub file from jw.org using the default browser on your Android device the file won't open in your jwlib app. You need to download the jwpub file from jw.org using Chrome. Once the file has been downloaded with Chrome it opens directly in your jwlib app. Hope this helps!

The BBC Russian website has published a report on three possible reasons why JWs cannot be removed from the list of extremist organisations. Highlights of the report: Interestingly, the Russian leader's press secretary has confirmed that Putin has already met the chief justice of the Supreme Court, Lebedev, to discuss the JW ban. Lebedev says that JWs are not being prosecuted for their beliefs, but for breaking the extremism law. He added that the Supreme Court cannot change laws, but can only enforce them. He also said that if the ECHR ruled in favour of JWs, the Russian Supreme Court would be ready to review the process. Br. Jerry, you should not play the video inside the chapter with the picture and the "play" arrow. To play the downloaded version, go to the chapter (like Lesson 2), then click on the '3-dots' in the upper right corner of the page. It brings down the menu with "show media". When you choose that it shows the videos and pictures in the chapter. If you have downloaded the video before, just click on it and it will play. If you have not downloaded it before, it will show the little "cloud" icon to download (must have internet then). After it is loaded it will always play. Note, if you forget and press the "arrow" in the chapter it will stream over the internet even if you have a copy downloaded for that chapter.

If you stream an audio or video file (like in the Good News brochure, more than once, it cost the organization more than if you simply download and play your copy as man times as you like. Just a reminder to all to count the costs (and the donations...😉)

I can’t get JW Library to update on any of my devices since 11th February. Oh well. I’ll just wait.

Sr. Linda, if you do not have the updated Good News brochure and there is no "pending update" waiting for you, just delete the brochure from your list in the JW Library app then wait a minute and reload it in the same place. The reloaded version will have the videos in the "show media" list along with the pictures in the book. It worked on all of my devices in all three operating systems. Whem you first click on the "show media" and the page opens the videos will be at the top. If you have not already downloaded them for use on that device, you will have to do so. There are only 10 videos for the 14 Lessons plus the conclusion. So to test it out use Lesson 2 (Lesson 1 does not have a viseo).

If the brochure hasn't been updated or replaced then it will just show pictures. I haven't seen any updates for the brochure on JWL so I did as the other brothers did, I deleted the brochure and then downloaded it again. The videos were included in the Media on the new brochure.

I'm still trying to figure out and remember how I missed these vital broadcasts. Maybe I confused the Gilead graduation with the annual meeting and looked for that instead. Ah well, better late then never....but better never late.

The videos are coming exactly now I need them. We are looking for ways to expand more our ministry and I caught myself to be afraid about some issues. I praying a lot to Jehovah, continuously, to open the door. The reminders from the videos it could be a part of the answer.

I personally think Samson hid in the cave because he was so grief-stricken by the murder of his wife, even his acting out of revenge on the many Philistines wasn't able to console him. Samson's greatest weakness was his seemingly intense love for women. The Bible never clearly words it in such a way, but you can read it between the lines. For example, in Judges 16 he seeks consolation from a prostitute. Then, he seeks to fill the void with the woman Delila in whom he falls in love with And I disagree with this, in that sense, too. I am certain that Samson had a strong hunch that Delila was likely to betray him (as concerns her, we also need to keep in mind that maybe Samson had a reputation for getting women into trouble with the Philistines). I think he was so desperately wanting to be loved and to trust her that he gave up, Judges 16:16 says he was no longer able to bear it. I think he was so blinded by his emotions that he completely forgot about what Jehovah's will is. There may be a lesson there for young people looking for love, but in any case, this account is so tragic for me I want to cry when I read about Samson's love-life. Too much off-topic, anyway. The man is clearly deserving of an own thread in the "Deep Bible Research" section, wouldn't you all agree?

Just delete the publicación and re-download it. That’s what I did and the revised version of the brochure showed up.

Last off topic comment: There is a language in which the word for "seashell" is very similar to the work for "women breast". A native English speaking brother who knows this language good enough to be assined to do a talk at a 😋Convention, made this very cruial mistake and used the wrong word for it. And he was preety enthusiastic in his speech because it was used in an example. Image in a sunny beach you find a very good looking shiny woman breast.

I've been waiting for this for MONTHS. I wish, though, that when they decide to release them, they just release them all at one time.

The Watchtower Library updated today. It is interesting that the Update numbering system has changed. In previous editions the number was incremented upwards from the Published DVD based on the year of the material covered. So our latest DVD (which we haven't received yet) is the 2018 version. So January was Update 1801, even though we are now in the year 2019. But the update today shows the Update number of 1901 identifying it as the first update of 2019.

We were snowed in for a bit. The meeting was canceled. Then we noticed one of our dogs was sick. We managed to get off this hill, and take Ivy to the vet. She’d have died if we hadn’t done that. She was dehydrated, of al the things. Vomiting blood. She’s fine now. We are treating our 104 pound German Shepherd!

I hope someone consoled them.

at last......so happy for our German speaking brothers

Today we’ve had the revised NWT in Swedish for a year. It has been interesting to start to use it in the ministry. You no longer have to explain basic concepts, such as Sheol. We now talk about “eternity” instead of “time indefinite”, and people know what we are talking about. The Study Bible, which was released at the same time, has been invaluable, and although the brothers understand the hard work behind each release, they wait eagerly for each new Bible book release.
