  1. That reminds me of a little boy who was born in Australia to parents of mixed nationality. Little David told me, "I'm half Italian, half Austrian, and half Australian." Sorry, this is totally
  2. My Mum was Jewish. A well-prepared sister considered Daniel's prophecy on the 70 weeks of years with her. (Dan 9) She was amazed and could see that Jesus fulfilled prophecy. She was baptized 4 years later, in 1970, and is still faithfully serving Jehovah.
  3. I haven't got time to write a proper comment now but I love the way the TEAM approach overcomes resistance. I haven't yet read the book "Feeling Great" but I've listened to dozens and dozens of Dr. Burns' podcasts. Brilliant work!
  4. Thank you so much, Uani and Sofia. That's perfect! One thing I observed in the article and the video that were sent to me was that they don't include any date or any place. That immediately made me sceptical. When I read the article on our website about misinformation, I wondered, what exactly is a meme? Now I know!!
  5. Here in Italy, as well as in Australia, first a news article and now also a YouTube video have started circulating stating that, "Indians throw thousands of idols on the street for not protecting them against the virus." The source is shiawaves.com, of 5 days ago. I haven't been able to find anything else about this and there is some debate amongst the brothers as to whether the news is authentic or not. Can any of our Indian brothers shed some light on the matter? And what about Shiawaves.com? Is it a trustworthy website? Thank you! PS What a timely article on jw.org: "Protect Yourself From Misinformation"! https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/peace-happiness/conspiracy-theories-misinformation/
  6. I think the point's clear now, but just the same, you might find the Italian translation interesting: State attenti però a non glorificare gli uomini ma Dio. Retranslated: Be careful not to glorify men but God. We members of the Governing Body are given credit that we don’t deserve. Everything depends on Jehovah and Jesus, and we’d like the more than 8 million brothers around the world to understand this point. It’s not easy but we’ll continue to work on it.
  7. Just for the records, in Rome they say, "I fratelli" - "The brothers". (At least in Italian).
  8. I remember hearing an almost identical experience - and having re-told it over and over again because I liked it so much. The main differences were that the neighbour brought over a cake (not a pie) and that she found magazines (not a Bible Teach book) in the oven. I heard it related by our district overseer, Bro. Ray Cowling (Melbourne, Australia) during his concluding talk at one of our circuit assemblies when I was a teenager. In other words, about 45 years ago.
  9. I sent this link to my sister who serves in a Chinese congregation. This is what she replied: Hi Linda, Thanks so much for sending that article! I studied with the mum of a young sister who got the truth in our congregation and who is from that area. Her mum went through weeks of daily interrogations during that period. We used Skype to talk to one of the sisters in the area. She didn't say a lot, mainly cried. We understood that all the elders in the entire area, could be the whole of Xinjiang, had been arrested. She was totally isolated with no literature and no access to our website or app. [Name]'s mum will be coming out to [country] and attending the International Convention. She's requested to have a study every day for the few weeks she's here.
  10. This reminds me of a poem I once heard: Broken Dreams As children bring their broken toys With tears for us to mend, I brought my broken dreams to God Because He was my friend. But then instead of leaving Him In peace to work alone, I hung around and tried to help With ways that were my own. At last I snatched them back and cried, "How could you be so slow" "My child," He said, "What could I do? You never let it go." -Author unknown
  11. One feature that I particularly like about WhatsApp, and that, personally, makes me prefer it to SMS's is I can see when the other person has received my message and also when they've read it. One grey tick when the message has left my device; two grey ticks when the other person's device has received it; two blue ticks when the message has been opened. This can be altered in the privacy settings, but most people leave it this way.
  12. Here in Italy, practically everyone uses WhatsApp! There's no limit to the length of messages you can send. You can also use bold, italic, strikethrough and extrawide text and endless smileys. You can send photos, videos (even those that are too large to send via normal email), documents, links... You can make voice calls and video calls. And if you have unlimited wi-fi (as we do), then all this is totally free! Personally, I use WhatsApp to stay in touch with relatives in Australia and friends in Italy, Venezuela, USA, Canada, Ghana, Spain and Slovenia. It's amazing! On a congregation level we have two WhatsApp groups: The congregation group and each service group. The elders remind us of congregation or service group arrangements for field service, or of any changes due to weather or other circumstances. They also inform us of other congregation activies. When we have assemblies or conventions they use WhatsApp to make sure everyone has transport or accomodation. Recently, before the CO's visit, our service overseer used it to complete the appointments for field service. Each member of the group is free to post anything of interest - experiences, photos, videos. Sometimes someone will use it to find a companion for field service. One brother visited the new World Headquarters and then shared his photos with us all. Often brothers will post photos from field service. In winter, we often share photos of how each family is snowed in!! We have a lot of fun! I must add that our congregation is in the mountains in a sparsely populated area and we're all spread out in many little villages. The families tend to be rather isolated from each other. For example, my husband and I are the only witnesses in our village. So our use of WhatsApp actually contributes in a way to our unity.
  13. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=it?sl=en&sl=ru&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fjw-russia.org%2Fnews%2F18021922-288.html "The preliminary hearing will continue on February 21, 2018. Lawyers apply for the exclusion of a number of unacceptable evidence from the case."
  14. I recently had a similar problem on two different devices. Installed the JW Library app - and found hardly any publications on it! In the first case, after a few days everything was there. In the second case we only had to wait until the end of the meeting.
  15. Wow!! Thank you Vonny! And the extra features are there, too. https://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/LatestVideos/pub-ivwc_3_VIDEO https://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/LatestVideos/pub-ivwc_4_VIDEO https://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/LatestVideos/pub-ivwc_5_VIDEO https://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/LatestVideos/pub-ivwc_6_VIDEO
  16. Yesterday, half of Italy was connected with Rome via video for a special meeting. The other half today. Our guest speaker? Bro. Samuel Herd! We watched a video on the New World Translation then Bro. Herd began talking about the revised edition. At a certain point he said, "You're probably all wondering, 'when are we going to get this edition in our language?' [Pause] Well, what do you think is in this envelope?" You guessed it! There was a scream of excitement and non-ending applause as we finally received La Traduzione del Nuovo Mondo delle Sacre Scritture - in Italian!!!!
  17. Carlos, here is the link for the videos in Spanish. The first one in each group is the one referred to in the Workbook: https://www.jw.org/download/?pub=mwbv&issue=201712&langwritten=S
  18. Dear Bro. Antonio, how are these two dear sisters now?
  19. Yesterday was the first day of autumn here - after an incredibly hot and dry summer. Perceived temperatures in the 50's (centigrade)!!! Global warming. Hope you enjoy your summer.
  20. "Despite the colossal pressure" our fine young 16-yr-old brother remained loyal. What an example of faith! May Jehovah continue to support and richly bless him and all our dear brothers and sisters in Russia!
  21. My heart aches for our precious Venezuelan brothers and sisters. At the same time, how encouraging to read of their wonderful spirit! “Spiritually, we have never been so prosperous. Our congregation meeting attendance has increased. More publishers are regular pioneering while at the same time exercising greater caution in the ministry. Since our neighbors know that we are strictly neutral and that we do not share in any of the criminal activity plaguing the country, they welcome the Bible-based message of hope and comfort we share.” Does anyone know what has happened to the 680 brothers and sisters who've been kidnapped?
  22. Hello Sally! I'm from Melbourne - Heidelberg congregation. But I live in Italy now - in the centre of the island of Sardinia.
