Interesting afternoon, found a child at the end of my driveway. He was having a panic attack. His 13 year old brother was attacking him, again, and he ran away to sit on the side of the road, again, and wait for his dad. I moved the truck out there and we sat on the tailgate and talked. He said he just wants everybody to get along, wants to have peace at home. I said he's welcome here anytime, I have lots to do and he's welcome to help, he looked excited. Met his father, eventually, nice man. Needs to get a handle on the 13 yr. old. But I said child was welcome anytime and it's safe here. Father looked relieved. We'll see. Made the ol' mommy feelings come out, haven't felt that in a long time. I think it's kinda nice.

I think that's wonderful...you never know what may come of your kindness...and even if nothing comes of it...you have set a super fine example for all...true Christians should be like this..

Thanks girls. I felt better when I saw his dad and the way he reacted. BUT if he needs a safe place to run to when his parents are still at work he's welcome here. I'll give him stuff to do, make him feel good about himself.

You are the very definition of a "good neighbor"! If every child had someone like you to go to, what a better world this would be. I hope the father takes you seriously and sends the boy your way when things flare up at home, what a relief for the boy to know he has a place to go!!! I can't imagine the weight that took off his little shoulders!
