  1. I certainly think it will be a period of learning and adjustment, but I see the benefit to it. Rather than having several different resources open, all study can be done in one place. Admittedly it means I may have to buy a new tablet, as the app is often slow on our older iPad, but on my mobile it's perfect. I imagine the brothers have got a list of features that need improvement, and will no doubt deliver those improvements - sometimes we just have to grin and bear it through adjustments! If they can create a "tab" system or enhanced "selective history" to make it easier to flit between a few different resources that would be really useful. That way having the insight book along with meeting material and perhaps an additional reference open within the app at the same time would be possible. Just my thoughts but, as always, whatever direction is given is ours to follow!
  2. Cured meats and bread/olives can work - if you are careful enough to not drop it all over yourself! Wraps are always a good one, but very similiar to sandwiches in that sense. Hummus with celery, breads and other dipping foods is also a good one. Tortilla chips with dips too. Again, also messy if you're incapble of eating normally like me haha. Cold pasta dishes work well too.
  3. I'm fairly sure, and as I often say... Don't quote me on this... but I remember reading that they have had data leaks or bugs regarding data security a lot with Google +. A novel idea, but sometimes it's best to just focus more on what they're good at. Google has been in court a lot lately too, so it makes sense for them to be pooling resources towards that rather than a failing social networking venture.
  4. I had always wondered why this wasn't a thing already. It is, in the most basic and pure form... fencing with lights. Would be rather interesting to see this being played as a "sport" though.
  5. I'm always aiming for 7 or 8. Usually ends up being 6. Then once every few weeks on a day off I'll catch up with a few extra hours. Any less than 6 and I forget how to function properly
  6. To bring this back on topic slightly... I was just the other day wondering when they'd release the convention videos. I loved the Jonah one, been looking forward to putting that on my tv and watching it through a few more times. Thanks for the update Br. Richard , off to the broadcasting I go!
  7. A few days late to this topic, so please excuse that. I was just looking over the statistics myself and then came to this thread. I just wanted to throw in an anecdotal thought to consider when we look at statistics. In hot weather, ice cream sales increase. In hot weather, murder rates increase. BUT... Ice cream sales do not influence murder rates. I think reading too much into these statistics is unwise, they are what they are and good for us to keep track. But we can't draw conclusions like; "More bible studies = more time till the end." or anything else really. The most important statistic for each of us to really worry about is to make sure we are another number in the flock.
  8. Whilst I'm not overly sure on the direct answer to this question, Psalm 11:5 states; Jehovah examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one; He hates anyone who loves violence The reality is we shouldn't really be partaking in anything violent. And if we do, then we probably wouldn't really have a leg to stand on if someone brought it up. Again, to keep in mind; 1 Timothy 1:5 Really, the objective of this instruction is love out of a clean heart and out of a good conscience and out of faith without hypocrisy If I had decided to play violent games or watch movies depiciting violence - If someone then called me out on it, I'd be a hypocrit to say that partaking in violence goes against my faith. So, going back to your original question, I'd well imagine so... or at least not be surprised if it did include that.
  9. 2 Kings 2:23, 24 He went up from there to Bethʹel. As he was going along the way, some young boys came out from the city and began to jeer at him, and they kept saying to him: “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” Finally he turned around and looked at them and cursed them in the name of Jehovah. Then two she-bears came out of the forest and tore 42 of the children to pieces. - Bears, aka divine excutioners. Not sure why, but always made me smile reading that part.
  10. I like the unseen side of JWtalk. For those introverts amongst us, those shy, those who fear answering up... Here is a good place to get involved in a spiritual discussion, say your piece, or opinion, or researched point and have a share in it. When you think about it, each thread in many ways is like an item or WT study. It's a topic we are discussing as a brotherhood. Why do I say this? In my short while here, contributing to topics and realizing that my input isn't always completely rubbish and utter jibberish, but is actually useful to the conversation has made me question why I'm not contributing more in my congregation, and is pushing me to do so. So, thats what I like. The real-world application that this place can give. I'm sure I'm not the only one too! Thank you to all here for that little self-confidence boost thats needed to overcome introverted shyness!
  11. One of the first scriptures I ever memorized was James 1:14, 15; But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn sin, when it has been carried out, brings forth death. - Whenever a situation presents itself, it's a process I've tried to drum into my head. Desire - Sin - Death. I find it helps me to make wise decisions when I repeat that three word phrase in my head... Desire - Sin - Death. Thats a shorthand prompt to recall this particular scripture.
  12. The need for an article like this really adds gravity to just how critical these times are. I'm eagerly anticipating it, as I feel it's going to have great merit and use providing comfort to those we meet in these last days, for those we meet on the ministry or conduct studies with. It may shock you to know, that in the UK, 1 in 20 children are sexually abused (Figures courtesy of the NSPCC). Our liklihood of running into someone who has suffered from this is growing, and equipping ourselves to deal with it is important. It's the same reason why we've had more information made on mental health too. Powerful article, powerful information, and as sickening as these crimes against children are, it really does show you how far into satans influence the world has fallen.
  13. Thanks for that! Quite a useful infographic to see what they allow or don't. The list of foods to avoid looks a lot like my current diet.... 🤣
  14. I overheard on the news or radio the other day that some celebrity had be partaking in the "Daniel Fast Diet". What is it? From what I understand is, its a bible-based diet - from the account of Daniel (Chapter 1, and also 10:3 for examples). I won't cite any external references, and please I do urge you caution if you do so - if it's Bible based then there is of course change that false-religion is involved in external websites. This begs the question, for me anyway, what would a true "diet" based on Daniel's account actually look like or include/not include?
  15. For what it's worth, in our hall we have a number attend the Sunday meetings, less on the Thursdays but still some. For myself, my study conductor invited me to a Sunday meeting after my first study... coincided with a CO visit. Certainly catapulted my progression as well as being an early indicator for me as to whether it was something to tickle my ears with or something I seriously wanted to pursue. Personally, I think it's so important to just get people to Jehovah's house, it's a real eye opener!
