  1. Finally got the new playlist option and wondering what types of playlists you are setting up. Also noticed that we can add images but not sure where the images would come from or what use that would be. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  2. Thx Brandon. I'll get her to check those things and update if it works. In the meantime, if anyone has any other suggestions, please post. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  3. The first picture below is what should happen when a verse number or one of the symbols (+,*,etc) is tapped on. The second picture is what she gets - no reference materials. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  4. A sister frequently uses wol.jw.org to look up scriptures and the accompanying research information on her phone. She prefers this over JWL. Suddenly, last week, the ability to see the research references disappeared. She clicks on the scripture # and/or the symbol but the window with the info doesn't appear. She doesn't know if she changed a setting or what. Does anyone have any suggestions? Below are some details that might help. Samsung phone/Android ( software up to date) Browser - Google Chrome Tried: clearing history & cache, restarted phone, with different browser, typing in address vs opening thru jw.org link. nothing worked. She has an android tablet that it didn't work on but it did work on her laptop. Side note, my son and I both have Samsungs and it works on ours She would be so grateful if someone could help us figure this out and has promised a poundcake as a reward [emoji8] Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  5. I realize that this thread is several years old and there may be other similar threads but I'm hoping that posting on here will bring it to the top. I am ashamed to admit that I have not been good about getting my go bag ready. When it was first mentioned, many thought of it as their GT bag and way over did it - packing as if they were going to have to rough it in the woods alone for an extended period of time - camping stoves, tents, etc. That overwhelmed me and considering where I live, I find that prospect highly unlikely. I'm hoping that I now have a better understanding of the purpose. I'm actually looking at packing 3 different "bags" - 1. a stay home and hunker down box in the event of an extensive power outage/grid down situation, 2. a go bag with clothes, personal hygiene supplies etc in case we have to evacuate to someone elses home or a shelter 3. a get home bag to keep in my car. I am trying the make a list of what is needed in each one and would love everyone's input. Tell me what type things you would put in 1., 2., 3. That being said, I realize that we all live in different areas and situations so our go-bags are all going to look a bit different but every little bit helps. Hopefully sharing our ideas will help us think of things we may have forgotten or never thought about and inspire us all to get prepared and help us.
  6. Just curious if anyone has heard how our friends fared in Puerto Rico during the hurricane. Keeping them in our prayers. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  7. No for a fee. I guess the cost depends on the state. Here is $25 - $50/year. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  8. That was my thought too. I feel like she put a big ole target on her car. Any traffic transgressions will automatically reflect negatively on Jehovah's name. I've ridden with her so this is well within the realm of possibility. Thirdly, a CO that we had 5 or 6 years ago discouraged the use of vanity plates because they were easier for householders to remember and identify. Possibly for reporting to authorities, malicious mischief or even just making it easier to know that we were in the neighborhood turning them into "hbh". I just can't help but feel that it was just not a good idea[emoji3064] Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  9. Here in the US, most states will allow us to pick our license plate numbers/letters for a fee. Recently a sister in our congregation needed new plates and got "jw org". Am I wrong in thinking this might not be a very good idea? She is very proud that she was able to get them and feels like she is giving a huge witness but I'm afraid it may actually backfire on her (no pun intended). Thoughts - pro/con? 10. Having been in the truth for 40+ years, I have managed to collect lots of literature. In addition I have inherited my in laws. All of these books are taking up a lot of space and I feel the need to simplify. Has anyone done this? What did you keep? What did you get rid of? Did you just trash them or donate? I would love to hear how you all have simplified your literature and what criteria you used to determine if something was a keeper or a tosser. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
  11. Yes, I imagine those on the outside would look at those numbers - fewer bible studies and fewer congregations - as a negative but we know the truth. Obedience to the guidance to focus on progressive studies and not let our time be wasted on those that have no intention of ever serving Jehovah. Satan looks for different ways to distract us and spending time on unproductive studies is a great way to do that. We feel like we are spending time in spiritual pursuits but instead we're stagnant when we should be out looking for those rightly disposed. The reduction in the numbers shows that we are following direction - so encouraging. The merges also show that our brothers are being good stewards of our funds which we can all appreciate. I know locally of 4 congregations that were dissolved and imagine many more will be as the merges/consolidations continue. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  12. I actually have the physical book but was just wondering about its digital availability. Side note. It is actually my husband's book that he received when it was released. His name is written by his mother and my new address and phone # are written in the inside cover as well as as notation about dates he would need off for the 1980 convention. Such a long time ago. 13. I was so excited to see all of these this morning. Love the idea of having the reasoning book so handy. One question though. I have looked on the website & the library on my computer but cant find the Commentary on the Letter of James anywhere. It was released in 1979 along with the Choosing the Best Way of Life which is available. Anyone know why it's (James book) not available anywhere electronically? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
